  1. Are you bashing us for having an opinion? How many times have you had a keyboard shoved in your face or made countless posts that were scrutinized by other keyboard warriors? Heaven forbid we discuss the sport or the personalities within... y'know like is done with other NCAA and pro-sports!
  2. Yes, hI certainly would. I believe that he said he was 145 ish after a session at NCAA his junior year. Flo interview? Anyone remember? He has really, really shrunk his body to 57 kg. Doesn't look to be at his healthiest.
  3. Not a lot of NBC mics at U23. Brooks has attacked Islamic beliefs and the prophet Muhammad on live TV before...
  4. I am generally not a person who would jump to Carter's defense, but I can see the jump to 197 not being suspicious. Unfortunately, I was a better weight cutter than wrestler in college. I was walking around at 170+ during the season and wrestling at 150. After the season, without a weight being touched, I ballooned to high 180s in about a month. The weight ended up not being fat, but almost like I re-inflated my muscles. I can see this happening with Carter. BTW it is becoming more and more apparent that part of PSU's "fun" is weight cutting. A number of their stars have been revealed to be big cutters. Brooks. RBY. Starocci. Taylor. Haines. Davis. I thought the narrative was that they didn't like to cut?
  5. That is not what is "head in the hole" in most of the country, but maybe in some areas. for most people "head in the hole" if a FHL finish. Tom Brands definitely used that lace in 96.
  6. Exactly on both points. DT was a master of using (predominantly) folkstyle turns on top vs the world.
  7. Especially with his dominance on top in folk.
  8. He has recently been revealed to be somewhat immature, quite egotistical, a conspiracy theorist, and likens himself to Jesus? Other than that not much...
  9. I didn't bring up the Zain quote, you will have to ask that poster. Please follow along. I don't hate the nits, but many of their fans are unbearably hypocritical. I rather like Taylor, Nolf, Ed Ruth, Nick Lee, Bartlett. Several of the more recent lads have come off as quite obnoxious though. The fun thing is that things in the wrestling world are about to change...
  10. Don't let your little Nit feelings get hurt! It was a joke, but based in reality...They literally asked Zain if the move should be named after him! I don't think Schultz invented it either, but he was using it before Smith made the scene. Terry Brands was famously dinged for it as PD in Olympic semis.
  11. Right. I agree with 1005 of what you said. Which is why Stiebler/Jaggers is not guaranteed at tOSU.
  12. But it does matter, as we just saw in Stillwater. We have had people tight with the program over the years claiming they knew who would be next... and they were all wrong.
  13. Yes, I would challenge anyone who thinks that is a folkstyle move to find a video of someone hitting it in a folkstyle match that pre-dates Dave Schultz. Good luck!
  14. Nice to see that folkstyle move making in an impression in Freestyle! Thank goodness for the PSU influence! I wonder who showed Dave how to do that? Do you think it was Zain? Or maybe Max Dean?
  15. Interesting... I wonder how Coleman Scott, Zach Esposito, and Chris Perry would respond to this?
  16. Maybe. I remember one with a ton of screaming throughout.
  17. I love this as a "bow and arrow." I mean he has an ankle and is applying forward pressure. That's about where the similarities end. Dave Schultz called it a "bent leg turk" btw (what is commonly called a bow and arrow)
  18. Yep. Someone who hasn't seen it in freestyle hasn't watched a lot of Dave. Wasn't there a match where he had someone screaming from it? Makybe Koll? I couldn't find it on YouTube. The late great Morris Johnson had a great story on TheMat.com about Dave putting the hold on him and seeing his own foot so close to his head. Claimed that in the moment he thought it was Schultz foot and said to himself "wow... Dave has the same shoes as me."
  19. Because his knees were hurt. He did an interview with Bader a few months back, He explained a lot of what was going on. A lot of the choices being made regarding NCAA/freestyle were his choices, meaning his father was also probably heavily involved. And he did kick the tires on the freestyle scene Won US Open in 2019, teching Vito along the way.
  20. It is a lot like when deep OTT runs were predicted fow winners of Last Chance Qualifier. These guys looked good against a field of wrestlers who had not yet qualified. Keep that in mind. Could they do in August? Yes, but both were fortunate to qualify the weight against a bunch of guys who won't be in Paris.
  21. Yeah, I learned it as a freestyle move. You can actually roll it through for multiple exposures the way you would a gut or lace. You don't see it that much internationally, though. Thank you. It appears more people need to watch more freestyle. Dave Schultz popularized the technique in the US.
