  1. Uh yeah... non-Olympic only https://uww.org/event/seniors-world-championships-non-olympic-weight-categories/news
  2. You qualify non-Olympic weights by participating in continentals. 10 weight worlds are in October? Really? Are you sure? The only precedent would be 2021, but that was because of Olympic postponement. At some point we had a four weight "non-Oly worlds." prob only in 2016. I think that is the subject here?
  3. We would have to see him in cornhole to know for sure.
  4. He was amazing. If I recall, he was bigger, or around the same size, as linemen back in his day. And he could run. I believe in lax, he was able to "withhold" the ball by compressing his stick to his chest, put his head down and run people over. You can't do that anymore!
  5. I know of individuals from my area who are doing very well financially, but still have no problem starting up a gofundme when travelling to a big tournament. They also have no problem posting pictures of them living it up in a nice air bnb and grilling up some steaks after the wrestling is over.
  6. Keep in mind that the way that many feel about this isn't unique to the US. The Russian wrestling leaders have discussed how to prevent their athletes from representing other nations. A suggestion was made to disallow any Russians who represent another nation from training on Russian soil. This proposal was made by a higher-up last year, but I do not think it was enacted.
  7. "You sir, are the world's greatest athlete."
  8. Wow! How is Poland doing? My Greco coach used to speak glowingly about how good their technique was.
  9. Unathletic Tom Brady was drafted by the Expos as a high school catcher. His movement skills do not seem very good, but his hand eye coordination, mechanics, agility within a phone booth sized area, arm strength, and ability to generate power, etc. are other-worldly. This doesn't even take his mental skills into account. Yeah, he ain't beating anyone in running or jumping, he's just maxed out in other harder to define physical characteristics.
  10. Jax was cornered by Zo and Coeman Scott at Last Chance!
  11. There's always the RTC. I think DT has gotten some promises of big funding for the RTC from boosters. I thought Gwiz might be a possibility, because he is very tight with Taylr. He would often stay with the Taylor family and train at State College. However, it now sounds as if he is moving back to NC, where his wife has a job and Gwiz will be pursuing opportunities outside of wrestling. Apparently, he is done with coaching.
  12. I think MMA could work for him, but he needs to be willing to put a full effort in. I would suggest AKA where Cormier and Cain Velasquez trained. They have a history of turning big guys with wrestling skills into world champs.
  13. This is true. Head coach McDermott is a 2x National Prep champ. May have trained at the junior Foxcatcher club? So yeah, he likes wrestling. I think Cael may have actually let him attend practice and observe the inner workings at PSU at some point, coach to coach. The Burroughs thing is a bit more interesting than it appears on the surface. Despite being from NJ, JB is a Bills fan. Why? His wife is the niece of Bills HOF RB Thurman Thomas. So it was a given that he would be invited to speak when he attended training camp as a guest.
  14. Didn't get a lot of playing time. I think he was in goal line D.
  15. Mocco won for both schools (2003 Iowa, 2005 Oklahoma State.) I think this was referring to him being a backup DT on the OSU football team. He had never played football in his life.
  16. Not really a joke. I am pretty aware of ADHD, the diagnosis of ADHD, and medications to treat it. Part of my job is to evaluate individuals who are in the process of being diagnosed. If his issue was only presenting issues as part of his academic life, he should probably go off of it, especially considering side effects of the drug and risk of dependency. If attention problems are presenting themselves in social or work (professional athlete) settings then he would have reasons to remain on it.
  17. Brooks and his opinions on which prophets are true or false! Has he made his opinion on Joseph Smith known?
  18. So, we expect him to remain on the medication after his academic career is over?
