  1. Well, 7th place at the NCAA tells me he may be a few years out yet from being a contender..... but if that's his plan he has time to make that ascent.
  2. Yep I agree... some of those guys will make way more with a wrestling academy, training MMA guys and other related business ventures without the headaches that come with college wrestling.
  3. Caliendo was a big 165... I can see him going 174 very easily, but 184 might be a stretch. Depending on how the gambling stuff shakes out, there may be one of many scenarios.
  4. Kennedy is not a grad so he can't grad transfer this yea. The deadline to enter the portal long passed....so he may be stuck. Some are saying that it's not a foregone conclusion that Caliendo will start. If Kennedy beats Caliendo in the room, does Iowa give the spot to Kennedy and face the backlash of investing NIL money into a non-starter... or is Calendo just going to start no matter what?
  5. So Ok State has never beaten Texas is what you are saying? That's embarrassing.
  6. I think a few people questioned it on MySpace.... time will tell. Will be interesting to see what happens to the group of guys now in terms of coaching... Taylor, Burroughs, Gilman, Dake, Snyder, Cox, Yanni, Lee...etc. As a throwback in terms of coaching.... the 1995 group that won the world championships were Rob Eiter, Zeke Jones, Terry Brands, Tom Brands, Townsend Saunders, Dave Schultz, Kevin Jackson, Melvin Douglas, Kurt Angle, Bruce Baumgartner. Some of these guys have gone on to pretty good coaching careers.
  7. So kids who really want to focus on wrestling should go here rather than Arizona State.
  8. Based on my experience with both attending school myself and now putting my own kids through school, this is what I have found: * Many states have scholarships that are only for their in state residents going to an in state school. *Some states have grants that are only for in state residents going to in state schools (ie. California Grant) * All schools have what I would describe as generic academic scholarships for all students. Some of these are need based. Some are based on GPA and/or SAT scores. * All schools have department scholarships that are for kids that have a certain major in that department. Some of this scholarship money usually comes from donors or trusts set up for the department from someone who has left money for the school/ department. * Some schools participate in what is called an "out of state tuition exchange." This is where a student can apply for their out of state tuition to be waved. This scholarship is only available for schools that participate in that program. A lot of schools do not allow "stacking" of scholarships, which means if you get your out of state tuition waved, you do not qualify for other scholarships to stack on top of your out of state tuition being waved. * There are always local scholarships that can be earned as wall as national scholarships. I haven't covered everything, but that's a basic rundown. I am sure others can also chime in with what they have experienced.
  9. I'm disappointed that they did not have one for each weight class and have them dual the 2nd team.
  10. And a legit question that was probably asked backed then and that I ask now. You answered the question. Move on.
  11. It was actually a serious question of what he brings to the table as a head D1 coach since many are hailing him as heir apparent to Brands. Ypu will also notice that I said “one of the most polarizing” which means there are others. No need to get your panties in a wad.
  12. It would be great to have another conference, however I think it would be difficult for a team from the Big12 to step down into a lower level conference like this. You almost need a few more lower level teams to ban together to join, along with some new D1 programs of the future. It would be great to have a new conference with some new teams that get some automatic qualifiers.
  13. What do Iowa fans believe that Spencer Lee brings to the table to be a successful D1 coach at a place like Iowa, besides being a 3x champ and one of the most polarizing figures in the history of the program?
  14. Speaking of Spencer, what's the latest on his injury recovery? Double leg replacement?
  15. Yeah... most guys go NAIA .... there's even some that go JC.
  16. Don't turn this into a teen vampire romance novel.
  17. We value military, veterans, fireman, police and teachers a lot in our society.
  18. Agree.... a healthy Munoz will be in the hunt.... He lost to Truax his freshman year by major, then lost two close 2 and 3 point matches...then pinned him in the finals of the Pac-12 tournament that year. The semis with PK was close until the injury that put him on crutches the rest of the tourney. Munoz gets noticeably better each year. This has been your Trey Munoz PSA.
  19. Yeah, I saw that and thought it was kinda weird. Cal Poly is up and coming program and he is way past the date to enter the portal and still be eligible for next year. He already redshirted, so he can't use that next year. So I am a little perplexed as to why he would land in the portal.
  20. Never tell anyone that you have truck.
  21. Is your definition of "properly disagree" to agree with you?
  22. Hmmm... I don't see Nolan committed on Flo or Wrestlestat...but it could be back on page 48.5. I agree on Eichens....he was a little thin at 174.
