  1. I believe Northern Colorado is in the Big Sky conference … yes it still exists. I doubt they are being courted for a new conference as a school.
  2. I would hold out for a guy who won the Nobel prize in high school but was also a five-star recruit.
  3. Yep... before last week they had been talking full merger - Philips wanted to "close the gap on the SEC and B10." Since a lot of teams have left it obviously isn't the same conversation. They are still interested in adding the 4 teams due to the TV deal they can get out of and replaced. This however might be the chance Florida State is looking for to jump to the SEC depending on if they would want them. This is not a part of the story line reported, however if you can also grab San Diego State and Boise State, two teams with good TV ratings, you might be able to realign the conference in such a way that scheduling would be a little easier. The ACC is looking to try close the gap - that is for sure. With options dwindling, adding Pac 4 teams might be a good option. My understanding is that Pac 12 is continuing the discussion of a MW merger today. Given the last two weeks....who knows what "new" thing could happen.
  4. Big 12 has decided not to pursue Oregon State and San Diego State at this time. https://www.si.com/fannation/college/cfb-hq/ncaa-football/college-football-expansion-big-12-decision-2-more-schools-report
  5. There is chatter on several possibilities going on at the same time: 1. A Pac-MW merger 2. ACC taking all 4 in order to be able to renegotiate their grant of rights media deal. 3. The B12 is still having talks On a separate but related note... the B12 was interested in merging with the PAC 12 to form a super conference a couple years ago. The PAC did not want to do that....so they just took their teams.
  6. Nate Engel at Oregon State has cornered the market on that.... his twin boys wear their wrestling singles everywhere.... and I mean everywhere. It's hilarious.
  7. It saves the 4 remaining teams from being conference-less. A merger of some sort with the MW and maybe teams from the WAC isn’t ideal but might be necessary. Depending on the teams they may have enough for their own wrestling conference. Any team not part of the merger Is not going to just leave the Big 12 to be part of this but teams making an official merger would. On another note the ACC merging with the Pac 12 is starting to pick up a little steam. It would give the ACC the opportunity to renegotiate their terrible media deal.
  8. ACC and Pac 12 talking merger. Would help ACC renegotiate their 20 year grant of rights agreement signed in 2016 in order for a better media deal. Another possibility in the soap opera
  9. MW, WAC and N. Col won't leave the Big 12 for another conference. The only way that happens is if the Pac-12 and said conferences merge into their own conference. The schools would then be members of that new conference and would have to compete in the new conference as members. The Pac 12 is in discussion with the MW right now in the formation of a new conference. One question, is will the Pac 12 name swallow up the MW teams or vice versa. There are several scenarios at play. In the ultimate wrestling world, your scenario above plays out, but it won't unless those school are formed into a new conference.
  10. Yes, they had a lot of seats left.... The capacity of Pac12 stadiums is very low in comparison to B10 or B12. The average attendance of B10 football games is approximately 4k-5k more than USC which had the highest avg attendance in the Pac 12. The average B10 attendance is 15k fans larger than every stadium in the Pac 12 except for USC and Washington. Just some perspective. https://www.si.com/college/stanford/football/ranking-pac-12-teams-by-average-attendance-in-2022#gid=ci02b8bac4200125d6&pid=6-arizona-state
  11. HDu will certainly have his answers for this, I am sure you thought of this, but the old site was connected to the official site of USA Wrestling and run in accordance.... and this site is not.
  12. Oregon State has a significant endowment and is 100% supported by the university...it's not going anywhere.
  13. Which is why I wouldn't be opposed to the BCS creating their own thing outside of the NCAA for football only.... which has been a discussion.
  14. With a significant endowment, huge support for the program from the university, upward trajectory and local and regional support, I don't see this happening.
  15. I follow the Pac12 pretty closely. What I am hearing. and seeing are several possibilities: 1. There is talk of a new Mountain West conference that includes the 4 Pac schools. The conference would have 5 member schools with wrestling. Tack on Cal Poly and Bakersfield and you have a 7 team conference (8 if you include Little Rock and 9 if Tarleton is factored in as well). 2. ACC - Either an expanded ACC or a new conference featuring ACC and PAC schools. Obviously wrestling would create a decent member conference with this. 3. An altogether new conference featuring the Pac 4 plus the top market WAC and MW teams .... like option 1 but including a couple top WAC schools. This too would create a bigger wrestling conference than option 1 because it could include Cal Baptist and Utah Valley. Whatever the case I think Bakersfield and Cal Poly tag along with wherever the remaining Pac schools go. I have to think Little Rock is already talking to conferences more regional to them. Of course, there could be yet another blindside or "what's behind door #1"moment in what I like to call, "As the PAC 12 Turns."
  16. He's at the old board. This is Fauxbon or Cinnabon 2 if you prefer.
  17. If I remember correctly from that thread, the document was contained in an email that was posted, however the document in the e-mail was not released publicly.... If I remember correctly.
  18. I remember when there was a difference between criminal charges of tampering and NCAA violations.
  19. The Pac will either have to merge with the WAC and MWC or take their best teams creating a Jr. Varsity Pac-12 of what it used to be. I was advocating with the PAC merging with the B12 a couple years ago when shifting started to happen, but unfortunately the Pac-12 president did not read my post on this message board.
  20. Pac-12 has been falling apart for awhile now. The final nail in the coffin will be happening soon. Poor leadership with no vision. The Pac-12 will most likely become the Pacific Mountain West 12 Conference.
  21. Is this the part where the gamblers claim they were never informed of the gambling rules?
