  1. i've heard he is on a football scholarship also.
  2. For the record, also getting Super 32 champ Parker Ferrel, who didn't compete his senior year and trained at Tech.
  3. That guys X is so annoying, its just laying waste to strawmen and lame posturing.
  4. I'm team southpark.....at least we're all team simpsons, unless you're some type of heathen.
  5. I believe smith controlled his weight year round, if the aforementioned were doing that I think he wouldn't treat them the same as someone like hendricks, who reportedly got up to 200 pounds in the off season in college as well.
  6. that word always gets a reaction just for its use...usually shawshank redemption though.
  7. theres something true to that but its not that simple. Cormier was openly braggin about how much mcdonalds he was eating and how he was 30 pounds over weeks before he made weight and defauted at the olympics. I get that you can claim this behavior was the result of brain damage from cutting weight, but its also cormiers fault. Dieringer competed at 74 kilos for awhile, and the suspicious part of his accent after that isn't related to an eating disorder. And you'd be hard pressed to make a case that he or hendricks were at the wrong weight in college. Like I said there is something to it but its become a trope that just people just drop as if it was set in stone, when every instance has its own complexity.
  8. Especially a jacked up guy like him, skinny guys seem to compensate better, and squatty guys are generally sturdier but its hard for them to heal.
  9. well that is the luxury of being an assistant vs a head, plus it was based on who was in his corner while he was crying and embarassing himself. I didn't say "no twins" but i'm compelled to point it out if a program feels homogeneous in a bad way. What if I admitted I'm not sure and you admit that its not a completely unfair thing to point out?
  10. two, not identical twins, one was an 118 and the other 197, somewhere around a five year age difference. Other coaches wrestled for Illinois, and central michigan. Compare that to Iowa, you have two people with identical DNA at the Top, then two guys who wrestled for Iowa under the same two guys. See the difference? Which group is more likely to have brought in cronies and which seems like that were looking for the right people?
  11. I know this was a joke but it would be good for wrestling. The Brands' are great coaches, would add a lot to any program, but they feel dated, and I always thought it was goofy to have two on one staff, a diversity of voices (which is an advantage I think PSU has that people don't talk about) would help Iowa a lot.
  12. he does get the consulation prize that his hips are flexible enough to make it look that ridiculous. Thats a lot of injuries avoided.
  13. yeah but they have to bride the local sheriffs in Sierra Leone to get them on world teams, thats not cheap.
  14. unless you're dieringer.......which was really suspicious.
  15. Worth pointing out that it took taylor 2 years to be a legit 189...meaning you can do it, just not on a whim.
  16. don't know if you've heard about this portal thing, but he can just take him with him. If Asher can't earn a spot at PSU its even motivation.
  17. yeah thats all good. I generally try to push back on people who say "just bump up" in reference to senior level athletes.
  18. I'm really sick of this refrain about how everyone will stay put because they need money and moving is annoying....
  19. i'm sure he will but as you implied he should be gunning for a top 10 team with existing everything already in place. The only reason he shouldn't get the Iowa job is that for a casual fan/donor/recruit it seems like a lateral move.
  20. Not to bash borelli, but look at CMU pre and post Cunninghams departure.
  21. ok so based on your response I'm curious how you think he does at the trials, and if you think he belongs at 65K
