  1. This is 100% the case. I like Iowa, but they are more my #2 team than anything. I have never purchased any Iowa gear, but have purchased PSU stuff lol. I don't particularly like the Ferraris. I wasn't a fan of AJs stalling, some of his twitter comments, or the sexual assault performed on Batista. I like some PSU wrestlers, particularly when they represent the USA. I'm just pretty sick of the PSU fans who worship Cael and think he is of utmost moral fiber and infallible.
  2. I can see your point, but the PSU athletic department, as we know it today, is largely a creation of the success and enigma of 'beloved, paternal, great guy' Joe Paterno and his 'brilliant' linebacker coach and defensive coordinator. Isn't PSU called Linebacker U? I mean it is called "Linebacker U" not cross-country U or leg attack U. It is kinda a big designation in the world of college sports.
  3. What does this have to do with a scandal of any sort? What handling of Lee are you talking about? How is media/fan questioning of decision that were probably made by the athlete or his family a scandal of any sort?
  4. Settle down, bro... It is pretty easy to see that I was not replying to you.
  5. Talk about disingenuous! Do some research! PSU athletics have had their share of racial incidents in recent years and also has the most pathetic numbers for Title IX compliance in the Big 10. They are ranked 14th in discrepancy between male and female athletes! That is a lawsuit waiting to be lost.
  6. GA high school state champ Hoke Hogan, (Sometimes called Hoke Poe-Hogan)
  7. Are you referring to Harold Mauller IV, who was just competing for Mizzou last year?
  8. I thought about this and edited my original post. You probably posted before my edited reply. I have since done additional research. AJ visited PSU in September 2019. He committed to OSU in October. The incidents at Blair occurred a couple of months later. By this point, the only major move was the TX to NJ move. However, there was still some strong evidence of an over-involved family and I think some issues in age group wrestling.
  9. He recruited AJ, even after the Blair problems, the multiple moves, and the demanding family...
  10. https://www.weareiowa.com/article/news/wrestling-with-life-the-andrew-long-story/524-50db074a-8db9-43cc-9ad9-97d9ccaf3ff8 https://intermatwrestle.com/articles/16057 https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/crime-and-courts/2016/08/19/former-iowa-state-grand-view-wrestler-back-jail/89005030/ https://www.psucollegian.com/sports/wrestling/where-members-of-the-2010-penn-state-wrestling-national-championship-team-are-a-decade-later/article_9bde60f4-fbc9-11eb-85f2-cfeef0b93a1e.html
  11. I looked at that quick and thought Frank Caliendo was in the portal!
  12. More than likely? Are you a legal expert well-versed in the case? And I'm sure you are more than aware that Cael recruited Long after he was kicked off the Iowa State team for multiple run-ins with the law. Long is now a convicted sex offender.
  13. but historically Minnow LOVES the Ferraris! (though he hasn't seemed as vocal about it lately)
  14. Wasn't someone asleep at the wheel when Bartlett wrestled Nick Lee? Then there was that Taylor/Nickal weirdness in OTT finals.
  15. Some good points, and some truths. However the bigger/better clubs are coached by a PSU guy, an Indiana U guy, a Bucknell guy, and another by an Edinboro guy/and an ASU guy. The good Danbury kids (Camacho, Kovacs, and the Jacks all from NC State) all go across the border and train with an Iowa guy.
  16. Yes. I thought about Schultz and Monday after I posted!
  17. This reminds me of when I was coaching college. We had a returning NQ senior that wasn't having a great season. Great kid, but had overachieved as a junior, and was having some weight and training issues as a senior. At the end of the year, he was forced to wrestle off against a sophomore, who was really having a better season. Sophomore won. Senior left the room for a couple minutes and collected himself. He came back in and started drilling with the guy who had just beaten him. He did everything in his power to help that kid achieve his goals. I see him every once in a while and always tell him what an impressive gesture that was and how much I respect him.
  18. I remembered Hancock, somehow forgot those two. Very very rare situation. They certainly didn't need to go down to #3! (or did they?)
