  1. California Baptist is nowhere near Switzerland.
  2. My guess is you are talking about the “segar” hold initiated by bouzakis off the scramble. The ruling is that the “takedown” and the turn were one action. You can only score once off of an action. He would have had to take him through multiple times to get more than 2 off that action.
  3. Just venting. Look at the date of the initial post, it was said during the tournament. No one responded for four days. I said my piece and thought it was done. Just saying: 'it is a thing and should be looked for in the future." Kid didn't place, should definitely be done at Fargo now based on age, but at least one someone got away with something.
  4. The bolded area was the particular issue. The kid went 3-2 and did not place, but did beat three kids. Not a big name kid, but capable of winning three matches in juniors. Basically graduated the same month as Levi Haines, and possibly older. One year after graduating high school, the kid was wrestling in Fargo.
  5. "were?" I highly doubt WADA has been making a lot of trips to Russia in the past year!
  6. The age may have been fine, but 4 years of high school, plus a PG isn't.
  7. As I was looking at Fargo Junior brackets, I noticed an entry in juniors from an East Coast state. The wrestler is the same age as my son, whom is going into his sophomore year at an NCAA D1 institution. This wrestler graduated in 2022, then chose to attend an East Coast prep school for a post-graduate year. Junior eligibility clearly says you have four years to compete in Fargo when you enter your freshman year. The clock does not pause if you decide to go for another year of high school after you graduate. The same wrestler placed in NHSCA, but I am not 100% sure of NHSCA eligibility rules. Clearly USA Wrestling, isn't checking this stuff; I believe that they leave most of it to the state associations. There probably needs to be better oversight here. Really crazy that our sport is coming to this. Shame on the states and on the parents. Wonder how many similar situations there are this week?
  8. Maybe it was on a Basch podcast? He said he was too worried about staying light year 'round until he came to NLWC. At NLWC, he started letting himself get heavier (145 +?) and felt his training was better. Then had a miserable cut for Final X.
  9. 20+ years ago in Fargo, a Russian national named Khetag Pliev represented OH. He was able to hit a number of reverse lifts in freestyle against good high schoolers. I would say that he hit one almost every match. Beat Kish in the finals, but no lift. I believe he later went on to represent Canada internationally. More recently he lost a finger in an MMA fight.
  10. Also the mental doesn't mean the ability to do calculus! It means mental toughness, decision making, etc.
  11. I actually was wrong. She was "reluctant to take the PK" because of a scoring drought. I think it is possible that she moved up from the 5th spot to the 4th, to alleviate pressure on herself. My apologies to Mrs. Garciaparra-Hamm and her fans, as well as to the members of this board.
  12. I like soccer, but Mia Hamm was so mentally tough that she begged out of taking a PK in the World Cup final, after customarily being one of the five players who took a PK after extra time.
  13. Stanford always does quite well without NIL money. Imagine adding a little? https://nacda.com/news/2023/6/13/directorscup-stanford-grand-valley-johns-hopkins-and-indiana-tech-secure-learfield-directors-cups.aspx
  14. You are quite dense. So Oregon State doesn't have big donors and no national titles and a new collective, You think Stanford can find some big donors going forward, and get some NIL money in the future? (especially since collective was formed after last years acceptance deadline)
  15. This is the 4th time you have questioned me about my name was on the old board. I find that a bit odd. It is pretty much common knowledge, and I don't try to hide it. I've actually had my old name in responses to you. Somehow you are strangely fixated on it. Pretty weird. I did not attend Iowa. They are probably my second favorite current team, mostly because I was a fan of the Lee/Kem/Marnirelli/ etc. teams. I was a Lee fan, and the other guys grew on me.
  16. So Dan, how much NIL money did the DAM use to win Oregon State athletes national titles?
  17. You clearly did not attend Stanford. Let me repeat: They have had less than a year with their collective. It is too early to see how much the NIL money will help Stanford sports. Give it a year or two. They were behind everyone else. I'm not even actively involved in this facet of the discussion, just bringing up a fact.
  18. Exactly my point, and the Cornell network is going to be extremely helpful in this situation. As far as "starting salary isn't everything," I would certainly agree, but it is about the only quantifiable data we have here. Thus, unless you are aware of some other data points, I think Cornell wins this one.
  19. Info from each school has the Cornell Civil Engineering graduate with a starting salary slightly higher than his UIUC counterpart.
