  1. Sooooooo should I consult Clue Heywood or do we want to get Vak's opinion first?
  2. I once worked out with Matt Hughes down at EIU (#rip) a few years after he graduated but before he was a UFC champ. He showed up to an offseason workout with some of the guys in the room and I was in high school and happened to be there at the same time. I had at least 50 pounds and 6 inches on him so even though I was outclassed I was at least holding my own against him which was a very big mistake. He got mad after a couple takedown scraps that took longer than he appreciated and decided he wanted to put me in my proper place so he punched me so hard when I went for a shitty double attempt that he knocked me out. I woke up with a bloody nose from hitting the mat and had a headache that lasted for a couple days. Like I said, I was in high school so losing to college guys was usually just a character builder but this was a literal ass kicking from an entirely different universe. I learned real quick that day that no matter how good you may think you are, there is someone out there who is 10x badder and will kick the living snot out of you.
  3. This counts as picking against McKee on the backside and that is such a hot take I can’t touch it with gloves on
  4. Six champs in Mizzou history and while he was a great talent don’t let recency bias get in the way of their accomplishments. Someone tell me if I’m forgetting someone? Ellis, Houdashelt, Ben & Max Askren, Cox, O’Toole.
  5. I don’t know why Jr. left HWC but I do know why basically the entire women’s national team went to Sunkist. But no way he goes to OkSt.
  6. Draft Kings has a future on Nickal at +1200 to be champ on Dec 31, 2023. The toughest part may not be ability but scheduling/climbing the ladder in short time since his next fight isn’t until March. But just like Gable at the Olympics, now is the time to take the action on the wrestler before Vegas catches up.
  7. Did anyone think to ask Micic‘s opinion of 32 year old 57kgs bumping up to 141 in the off-season?
  8. Ed Scott is a mf’n hammer to be reckoned with
  9. Pretty sure he has to do 4 years active coaching + 4 years of reserve coaching before he can move on to civilian endeavors
  10. Because he’s getting ready for April?
  11. Create a national Last Chance qualifier the week between conference tourneys and nattys for anyone who meets some basic criteria (undetermined, but the idea is “not everyone can enter this Last Chance tourney” in order to not have a 47 person bracket). Start with the mindset of 30 auto qualifiers for NCAAs from conferences and 3 from Last Chance by using current qualification criteria. Anyone who MFFs at conference must participate at Last Chance. If you MFF at Last Chance. then you watch from home. 3rd place match at Last Chance would be a sneak peek of bloodround - true gladiator’s mindset.
  12. Silly post. Espo is being groomed for the role. Someone call Waste Management to close this thread
  13. Carr is nasty and quite possibly the future. Griffith saved how many Stanford sports? If O’Toole doesn’t win then don’t discount him. 3 champs with legitimate world team aspirations in the same bracket means at least 2 people are going home disappointed. The only way Lee loses by the time NCAAs rolls around is if DeSanto goes on another vision quest, transfers to Michigan who miraculously finds him another year of eligibility by getting him onto the Ecuador national team, and upsets a still-recovering from ACL injury. Yianni not HEW, Yianni adjusting back to folk. Yianni not worried and he okay. AOC pick? Love it and all here for it. But it’s only going to be 12.5 months since his ACL tear when nattys happen. That’s a stacked deck unfortunately. He should have been a 2x’er but the covid cancellation ruined that chance (along with Carr’s legacy possibly)
  14. I don’t have faith in Purdue. That program has been hexed by a voodoo priest.
  15. They are right where they always are. I do hope they break their AA drought this year but it isn’t likely. Copass will be their best bet the next 4 years to break that streak.
  16. The best annual article from one of my favorite writers, Drew Magary. Ladies and gentlemen: The 2022 Hater’s Guide To The Williams-Sonoma Catalog “Leave your duck boots in the breezeway and help yourself to some wassail. It’s anything but “mid,” I assure you. Unfortunately, our new contractors weren’t able to finish our addition in time for Christmas, which absolutely broke Grayley’s heart. He was planning to move back in after he finished at Skidmore, and now he might have to stay in the pool house instead. Can you IMAGINE? Dreadful. Just dreadful. There’s barely enough room in the pool house for a full bar!”
  17. As an IL fan I appreciate the Wiscy drinking whiskey takes. But there's a dude named Amos and no way 1) they remove a senior world team member from the varsity squad, and 2) Amos or Ferrari bumps up to heavyweight. Other than that, yes I agree Bono is an assclown who wouldn't think twice about bringing some Focus to Madison.
  18. But even if you are using it as a career award, he still got hosed. How many dominant, and I do mean DOMINANT, 4x finalist/3x champs didn't get a Hodge? The dude was so bored he brought the Winn-Dixie back in vogue. Not saying Nickal didn't deserve it but if they are giving out co-Hodges like candy nowadays...
  19. too busy arguing with idiots like me on the internet to actually watch wrestling
  20. I have nothing more than a weird hunch and a bad feeling he is going to SDSU. Hahn would have to make a deal with the devil for the Ferrari bros in hopes of raising the Jack Rabbits' profile thinking "he's going to be my Seth Gross, not my Andrew Long"
  21. idk it worked pretty well for Imar to the tune of 4 NCAA finals appearances and 2 titles, not to mention pushing JB to the limit at Final X
