  1. Are those reasons because we value equity amongst our citizens, such as girls and womens wrestling programs. Or is it significantly paying down the laughingstock debt and credit rating to a tolerable state, improving roads, and bringing small and large businesses ranging from manufacturing to technology to the entire state. Or is it because we throw governors and lackeys from both sides in jail because unlike 49 other states at least we actually hold the crooks accountable occasionally? Oh and we allow vaping too. Just don't get on the road after. We love it when you support the local economy and stimulate the local tax flows. Just don't do it if you're under 21.
  2. I one could say the grass is greener in Stillwater. No pot shots needed just trying to weed out the haters before this thread goes up in smoke like a cheerleader sneaking a cigarette in the bathroom in between plays that gets caught by the principal.
  3. Now say the reason the knucklehead got dq’d out of Doc B and upon the looming consequences decided to transfer (supposedly)

    Doesn’t that say enough?
  5. It’s too little too late. As the title is “Upsets” I have to say that I’m upset you pwned the shit out of me

  7. All good but cmon it’s a down program dude
  8. Comparing either to Lee is crazy. Also, Byrd previously beat Ramos before getting launched at NCAAs. Oh and who finished higher while you’re taking potshots… Byrd or Ramos? Hint: Purdue hasn’t had an AA in how many years?
  9. Do you mean the biggest upset is Ramos going up big? Genuine question, no trolling.
  10. If I were a world team member that didn’t medal, why would I go to Pan Ams rather than attempt to win the Open and rest until Final X?
  11. UIUC did not have a med school until 2015-16ish. They created a new engineering and quant based med school that is the first of its’ kind in the US. I don’t think the first class has even become fellows yet. So maybe that could have a different type of rigor and intensity for a year 2 than a “typical” med school? Or maybe he’s getting a grad cert and skipped med school? @ILLINIWrestlingBlog what’s the scoop?
  12. So serious question - is he in the new Carle engineering medical school? Is he doing what Dr. Kemmerer attempted?
  13. I thought Carr was going to med school and that’s why he didn’t come back last year? I don’t think this is what they mean when they say “he has a medical redshirt left.”
  14. “If Carl can skip meets then so can I. But I’m scared of 133 more than I’m scared of permanently damaging my body.” Glory, 2023
  15. Spencer isn't going up to 61, I was only asking if he would bump up to 133 for a single dual against Fix because it was a fun hypothetical. I don't think he will, but it is a fun question to ask. I also don't think Fix drops to 125 for NCAAs or 57. Unless he wants to guarantee another silver medal...
  16. So don't you think the more plausible plan would be to stay at 133, go to the Open and try to win a spot to Final X, try to medal at worlds, then get a bye to the 57kg semis at 2024 OTT in a non-olympic weight? Seems much better than doing an Uncle John suckdown for 6-8 weeks only to have a less than 50% shot at Gilman, no?
  17. The 80s and 90s are coming back en vogue so does that mean speedballs are back on the menu?
  18. The turnaround from NCAAs to the US Open is very tight and Fix would have to be already in his descent at NCAAs if he plans to give 57 a shot. Remember, with the new rules any weight with a returning medalist sits in Final X and that weight class will not have a world team trials tourney; the US Open winner faces the incumbent medalist (Gilman) at Final X. The alternative would be that he certified at 125 and plans to hold that weight for multiple weeks which seems like a very tall task.
  19. Fix is probably staying at 61 this year given the tight turnaround from NCAAs to US Open since there is no WTT at 57. So what about the inverse - does Lee bump up in February? If he does and he wins, does he get the Hodge?
  20. I’m not a fan of the religious aspect, but Team Carl is able to put Phil Jackson to shame. He turns myeh into good, good into great, and great into elite. He also helps those individuals realize the secret sauce that there is no finish line and you will always be seeking more but harness that into a positive. It takes many of us well into our 40s and 50s if we are lucky to fully grasp that philosophy. He’s truly the evolution of Dan Gable. Hate it or love it, but we all have to respect it. I genuinely believe that Kyle Snyder and his mentality is the perfect molding where his protege Taylor falls short with his dick-swinging bravado. He is the true heir to the Sanderson school. A selfless champion that just wants to always give his best, work harder than anyone else, and appreciate the life lessons of wrestling. Servant-leader attitude. Should we all be so lucky…
  21. I’ll take Cass not coming off a U23 peak. Kerk could have done the same but he opted out.
  22. RBY, Brooks, and at least two other finalists this year take it to the bank. Penn State does this like clockwork in "transition years." I remember when there was concern about the next class taking over. That was Hall, Nolf, Nickal, Joseph. Then the next generation how are they going to do it... that was the RBY, Lee, Brooks group. The point is, it's the best room in the country. It's only not won a team title twice - once when Carl redshirted everyone and once when the stars aligned for Iowa (and I hate to say it but I think PSU would have won in 2020 as well). It's like betting against Iowa in the Gable days - you have to be stupid and brave to do it. As long as Carl and Casey are in Happy Valley I will never go against a Nittany Lion on Friday night.
