  1. 125 Lee goes out with the season grand slam of Hodge, Most Dominant, Gorarrian, and OW 133 RBY. My heart says Fix breaks through, but my heart really wants to see him stay in college for 8 years just to be runner-up every year. 141 Matthews. It will probably be Woods or Barlett but where is the fun in that pick when you can go for the dude who just happened to run into both of last year's cinderella stories (Willits and Clarke) 149 Yianni. And I'm calling it now: he hits a lat drop at some point in the tournament. 157 Andonian. Fun! (sorry AOC/Illinois ) 165 Depends on seeds for the Saturday night matchup. Carr over Griffith over O'Toole over Carr 174 Starocci. This will be the bracket that blows up. 184 Brooks. Terminator. Next. 197 Dean over Beard in the finals. The entire arena is rooting for Beard and is deflated. Life sucks. Sunday's hangover will be twice as brutal knowing the bad guys won. 285 "Dark horse" Cassioppi. The bracket gods are going to shine over the weekend by giving us the two least top-tier heavyweights, Cassioppi and Schultz, go to SV2. No amount of cold spray can save the lungs in this match. Or if you want to be boring, Parris is back and will wreck the field without his big brother around to beat him up anymore.
  2. Humble mindset, superior technique, willingness to fully dedicate yourself. About as secret as Big Mac sauce lol.
  3. Why should someone cancel a credit card in order to cancel a subscription? How is that personal accountability?
  4. That’s not really how business operations works in the legal or customer experiences realms though. I’m going to get a bit personal when I say that I get your tough guy schtick and applaud the consistency no matter how many ellipses must be sacrificed, but maybe just once don’t mash the send button before thinking “does this help our niche sport’s bigger picture?”
  5. Quick sidebar... Morgan Turner is currently in the IL boys semis @ 106 and guaranteed to place. That may not mean much in about 40 other states, but that is a HUGE rare accomplishment in Illinois.
  6. So again, if you are ready to compete against seniors whether you win the spot, make the team, or be competitive then it is time to not compete at age level. If a competitor and their camp decides that the better experience will be going after the age group spot and world tourney exposure then that is also fine. But seniors is seniors and if you want to run with the best of the best then that is a definitive declaration that you feel you are above your peers. Put the above paragraph another way: would your 17 year old go to Fargo? Or is that, for all intents and purposes, beneath the talent level at this point? Is a U20 Pan Ams tourney more important, at this current time, than competing for a spot on the senior national team? Does that desire align with the talent level?
  7. @Husker_Du lurking and laughing maniacally knowing that he sent Waste Management to that big pinfall in the sky and has wrought international political strife throughout the board
  8. You're either ready or you're not, and most juniors know/have been informed if they are ready to take the step up.
  9. Oh you mean like how freestyle awards a point to the other person if you lose your challenge? Granted those challenges also take approximately seven years to complete but at least there is a risk/reward anytime you throw the brick.
  10. Totally agree. Should be absolutely no more than 90 seconds from whistle to whistle for stop/review/restart. Buzzer goes off at 80 seconds regardless if sufficient evidence is found/not found, get back to center because ref has 10 seconds to announce what they saw and start action. This isn't the NFL we aren't selling commercials throughout 3 hours of television and these long breaks are killing the flow of a match. It's an anaerobic sport - you don't see NCAA 10K races constantly stopping for review to check if someone spiked another runner thus giving everyone a break and ruining the natural flow of the race and race strategy.
  11. Unfortunately the bean counters did not approve procurement of additional armor when budgets accounted for the Larry Lee $lush Fund drying up at 11pm March 18th
  12. For the masses who are curious: to be a participant in Final X for MFS 1) Winner US Open (what I think you're referring to as "Senior Nationals") which is a one-match winner take all final. This will take place April 25-30 in Las Vegas 2.1) Any returning medalist goes directly to Final X if they stay at the same weight. or 2.2) Win the WTT tourney which is a one-match winner take all final. May 20-21 in Colorado Springs Weight classes that will not qualify for 2.1 and move onto 2.2 criteria are anticipated to be: 61kg, 92kg, 125kg. Gross (61) and Zillmer (125) did not medal last year, Cox has announced he is attempting to move up and miss weight at 97kg again. Final X for all 3 Senior styles/30 weights takes place on what's going to be a very, very, very long June 10 at a site to be determined. MFS selection criteria can be found here Full U15 through Seniors for MFS, WFS, and Greco team selection criteria can be found here
  13. NFL draft is in Kansas City this year so not sure why Vegas would be packed to the gills in April?
  14. Just missing the head wrap and shoulder brace before he's a true hawkeye!
  15. 125 [cannon fodder] - DNQ 133 RBY - 1st 141 Bartlett - 6th 149 Van Ness - 8th 157 Haines - 4th 165 Facundo - 5th 174 Starocci - 1st 184 Brooks - 1st 197 Dean - 3rd 285 Kerkvliet - 4th Let it be known that one of the new generation will win a title this year. I just have no clue which one it will be but I like Bartlett and Haines this year. Every new crop we all think this is the year that PSU comes back to earth and every time Carl creates a dynasty within the recruiting class.
  16. No. As a matter of fact, Kevin Dresser and his team will take on all comers. It doesn't matter if they are 4th string teammates because the Cyclones never back down! They will keep fighting down to The Last Chance!
  17. I’ll take that bet. I’ll even be so bold as to say it happens tomorrow night.
  18. Has Glory considered removing the arm to more effectively make 125? A bonus side effect is that Lee would not be able to run his patented arm bar tilt to half nelson series without both arms. Just thinking out loud here folks.
  19. I guess you could say Glory is a Lame duck
  20. When you go to double OT do they call it turn-outs or ride-outs? Folkstyle is inherently not about getting turns, it is about controlling your opponent for as long as possible. Come to the freestyle dark side if you want a superior product that actually punishes negative action.
  21. Yes AOC is the man but that’s a bridge too far even for this Illinois homer. AOC lost an early match and barely made AA on a torn ACL. Spencer Lee won a national title on a torn ACL. Twice.
  22. Unless your name is Nick Suriano and when you are about to get ridden like a show pony in the NCAA finals they blow it dead and let you have a mulligan on your standup. Terrible call with regards to consistency because as @Scouts Honor mentioned, Riding Time = controlling time not turning time. Been waiting a few years to get that one off my chest.
  23. This has been confirmed but the name hasn't leaked yet. I hope that changes.
