I think this is true of Hutmacker and Keuter. Unsure which you’re talking about but Keuter is a known quantity with a u20 world title and Hutmacker clearly has the pedigree he just needs to get in shape, knock the rust off, and get beat up and coached up by tervel dlagnev for a couple months

Feel bad for Glazier, he “lost” a one point match to Ferrari who is an NCAA champ, is undefeated on the year, and ranked 12th, yet brands wanted recruit over him.

It was driving me up a ***ducking** wall. How about Dollamur? How about other brands? How about not using language that confuses those that don’t know the manufacture of wrestling mats. Just call it a mat bro…… I go back and forth on Shane Sparks. His passion is unmatched but on podcasts he talks too much, talks over people, says dumb things, and his voice is so over the top, even for a broadcaster.

How do I get these and when should I begin to look for them? Any idea the cost they may be? With it being in LA it could be a great opportunity to watch the highest level of wrestling and see friends.

From a logistical standpoint, wrestling two schools 1 hour from each other, one at home and one away, must be the dumbest idea. Why not come to Indiana for a Friday and Sunday dual and get a bus.

Yep- a lot can happen in 4 years so any delay hurts the chances I assume.

No idea what that is, let me be disappointed on my own. I don’t, and coaches don’t, need your attitude to leave us disappointed and wanting more.

So off topic but I wonder what other coaches at Iowa think of the brands. They’re 100% the crazy coaches you avoid…. I love it.

If everyone here tunes in we can get an extra 100 viewers to pump the numbers. On a serious note, Keuter vs The Polar bear would make this dual worth it no matter the outcome of anything else. I say throw them both out there, even if they gas out quick it’ll be epic to have that matchup take place in a dual, possibly for the win.

Honestly, I don’t take issue with it. It’s action and creates situations for scoring. I can also understand not liking it though. Big men pushing hard, running legs, and clinching while standing upright gets me excited to see what may come next.

How in the world is it 2024 and an Iranian wrestler may have to forfeit or withdraw from the tournament due to having an Israelite (Finesilver) in the round of 16(?).

Fair enough, I can respect him maintaining his interview habits even in a down year. He keeps the Iowa program talked about that’s for sure.

Yeah I just learned you can buy a BTN+ subsciption for $70 annually and watch all btn duals on it. May pull the trigger before Friday!

What I don’t get is why does he do so many interviews when he insists on saying almost nothing of substance ever….

That’s what I’m saying, I’m 25 and don’t know how to access BTN and ESPNU except when I’m back home on my parents TV bc they still have cable. Everything has gone to streaming, I would easily pay a subscription for college duals and many others would as well, I watched Cal Baptist vs ISU bc it was on flo. It’s more about reaching the right people.

I don’t know anyone making 100k yet, 3 years out of college so that “a brain and a little ambition” comment is a little disingenuous. But my understanding is that athletes get passed through admissions for being athletes. Also, the average student qualifies for financial help from the university as they all have billion dollar endowments for students that can’t afford the insane cost.

The last thing those kids and society as a whole needs is brain damage….

I mean…. what do we expect? Wrestling is never going to be the biggest sport for spectators, getting wrestling on BTN and ESPNU is great and 34k/66k people got to watch the meets because of that. Are we suppose to cry that these meets didn’t pull Super Bowl numbers? Obviously it didn’t and never will. Everyone in wrestling bitches about the sport not being big enough or not being this or that. Just find a way to enjoy it, add value, and contribute. That’s all we can do for the sport we love, wrestling isn’t going anywhere.

My friend took a visit to ASU for wrestling and halfway through realized he hadn't seen an academic building during his time. The school is know for partying and I bet the wrestlers aren’t an exception…. Apparently there was a pic of Zahid and his championship trophy with an illicit substance on it. Although I have not seen it.
