  1. No, he did not "compete" He may have participated, but he did not compete.
  2. So Manning was right about the B1G tourney and wrong about the NCAA tourney. Right about what happened in the coaches meeting at B1Gs. The "he is drilling downstairs right now" is common joke that no one from PSU has disputed until now. At the time, people were also critical he didn't pull out until the bracket were set as it was believed it was done to intentionally impact the team race. No one from PSU spoke up like they are now. So basically Manning was right on all accounts except the one widely believed statement regarding Suriano's ability to compete at NCAAs that, has now for the first time ever, got people from PSU to speak up. Manning should tweet more, maybe getting information out of PSU won't be like Fort Knox.
  3. ESPN did a pretty good story on Peyton Robb's injury and recovery: https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/39711387/peyton-robb-nebraska-flesh-eating-bacteria Still a crazy story. So glad Peyton is healthy.
  4. This was my post in the most anticipated match up thread, which was probably not the right location: But Starocci not wrestling did have multi impacts on the NCAA Qualifiers. Bauwmann from Purdue got majored by Maylor then received the MFF. Didn't win a contested match and is an NCAA qualifier not because of his wins but because of where he was placed in the bracket. Sparks only beat DJ Washington (DJ didn't win a match all weekend), received the free pass to the semis, slid to 6th = qualifier. And no question Brennan from Little Rock is an NCAA qualifier if Starocci competes as he says he was capable of. I don't know the answer tho. Starocci shouldn't be excluded, if he can compete in 2 weeks. I still think he wins it, it just too bad that it has impacts on guys like Brennan who go from last one in to first alternative. Would of been nice for Little Rock to get another qualifier.
  5. That was not wrestling. It was legal, but he did not wrestle anyone. I'm not saying he did anything wrong, just pointing out it had (unintended) consequences. You may be okay with the consequences or not care but that doesn't mean they were none.
  6. He was wrong about what was said in the B1G coaches meeting (none of those 3 where there either)? Why did Nick transfer again?
  7. True. But Starocci not wrestling did have multi impacts on the NCAA Qualifiers. Bauwmann from Purdue got majored by Maylor then received the MFF. Didn't win a match and is an NCAA qualifier not because of his wins but because of where he was placed in the bracket. 8. Why was this ill advised? You can't criticize PSU or upset them, oh no! Why did Suriano transfer out again, because Cael handled it perfectly?? Manning's point was the coaches he mentioned asked Cael at B1Gs if he was wrestling so they could seed appropriately and Cael was not truthful as he didn't have any intention of wrestling at B1Gs as he couldn't even go 2 weeks later at NCAAs.
  9. I've come around on Lewan. It's almost performance art at this point. Sure a 2-1 match isn't as exciting as a 14-13 match, but what about 5 consecutive? Do you know how hard it is to win five 1 TD or OT matches to win an NCAAs. That is not easy to do, even the great Cael Sanderson couldn't do it.
  10. Is there really a point to looking to next year with the transfer rule? PSU has 2 guys who AA'd at other schools last year and a #2 seed who was RS at another school last year. 3 new AAs that no one would of predicted at this time last year. Michigan brought in 5 AAs from other schools. Iowa got 2 AAs from NDSU. Next weekend is more of a recruiting trip for some schools.
  11. Zalesky's results after leaving Iowa City almost prove the opposite. If he was an elite coach, he would of had more success and not be at the D2 level now. After Gable's recruits left, Zalesky's results don't stack up. He inherited a great dynasty and it was behind Minnesota and Ok St. before he left. Brands has the 2nd best program right now and that wasn't the case when he took over.
  12. Is he not 100%? If not then I think we can write Starocci's name in Pen.
  13. I took the former teammates factor was in reference to Beard beating Brooks not Hidlay. I don't see that either. To me. Brooks v. Hidlay final is next topic.
  14. Good list. I would add Starocci if he doesn't look 100% v. Mekhi. If Carter looks like his himself then I don't think this is a match but I wouldn't rule out Mekhi vs. an 85% Starocci.
  15. Seeds are not predictions. Feldman is coming on strong at the end of the year and may finish 3rd but he won't be seeded 3rd. Comparing transitive properties of matches and ignoring Feldman's CKLV is not how the process works (yes, I know he got hurt but that is part of the seeding process).
  16. After I watching the match, I was surprised there has been this much uproar about this match. Yes, Williams was stalling but not a lot of refs are going to hit a guy for stalling 4 times in a minute. It stinks but I don't think you will see something like that called in KC either. *I don't think they were out of bounds before time expired or there would of been another stalling call.
  17. I know he was highly ranked out of HS but for a guy to not take a step on a mat for 3+ years and then come back and qualify for Nationals is crazy.
  18. I think we will see an KOT/Carr semifinal unless the committee intervenes to separate them. It would be inconsistent from how they seed other brackets, but could happen as consistency and NCAA wrestling brackets usually are not used in the same sentence.
  19. It was an exhibition and does not count for seeding. This is a topic on seeding, you must of missed it.
  20. The B12 was the better conference at 285. It probably doesn't matter to Younger where he is seeded, that is not the topic. There will be 330 wrestlers in KC in 2 weeks that don't care where they are seeded.
  21. 125 - Richie Figueroa - Honestly no idea and I predict chaos. Figs was the most realistic chaos outcome I could predict. 133- Fix - He looks better this year and I think he gets finally gets it done. 141 - Mendez. Very impressive B1G tourney. 149 - Ridge. - Most well rounded Folkstyle wrestler in the bracket. 157 - Levi - Has separated himself. 165- KOT - Not counting out Carr but he didn't seem close to finishing on KOT 174 - Carter - I don't buy into the drama. He seems like he wanted to go this weekend so knee isn't as bad as feared, was likely only held out for own protection. 184 - Keckeisen - picked apart Plott and has beaten #2, 3, 4 . Impressive season. 197 - Brooks. Finals are next topic Brooks v. Hidlay. I think Hidlay has a legit chance but I can't pick against Brooks 285 - Kerk. Exciting to see if Younger can make it a match but edge to Kerk as his is more well rounded.
  22. Davis should be the #1 seed. But I don't believe 125 seeds really matter after the first round anyway.
  23. Younger beat #3 Wyatt (his only loss), #4, Colton (his only loss), and #5 Elam (his only 2 losses). Kerk's hasn't wrestled any of them this year and is ranked above Younger because he stated the year there as the highest returning placer. If the regular season matters, then Younger should be the #1 seed.
  24. The religious stuff doesn't bother me and it's not exclusive to PSU. The "this doesn't matter" BS, we just want to compete is the BS that bothers me. If it didn't matter they wouldn't open up the checkbook to bring in Nagau, Messenbrink, Truex from other programs or pay Star and Brooks to come back. They would just let the backups who have been in the room compete if it didn't matter. Let those guys get better, etc. No, if you are not a high AA threat, you will be replaced... It matters to them a lot, and that is okay.
  25. Not an Iowa fan, but Iowa was the favorite in 2020, National Champs in 2021 and were runner up last year. I don't think anyone was beating PSU this year but the gambling issues didn't help Iowa. The race for 2nd is still very wide open. Just because Michigan finished 2nd doesn't mean they will be the 2nd highest team at NCAAs.
