  1. Nick Lee has owned Yanni. Frankly, I'm not sure Nick Lee doesn't have a World Silver if he has Rivera's draw...but I digress.
  2. Does anyone have any actual proof of this idea that Micic skipped the weigh-ins or are we into the full internet conspiracy stage? Have his competitors spoken out? Have coaches from other countries protested? Are we just going by "looks like..." innuendo? I find it hard to believe that a guy can skip weigh-ins for the World Championship and not have someone say something publicly.
  3. If Spencer does not challenge, what is the point of signing with the HWC? Serious question. I think many people would love to see him compete, me included.
  4. My guess i$ Michigan had more to offer. I've heard from pretty reliable folks that Escobedo has been outbid for the top kids out of Indiana (*cough* Mendez *cough*). He's in the mix, but he's fighting an uphill battle for the elite recruits. I don't blame the kids for choosing what they feel is the best offer, most of us would. I'm also not suggesting there aren't other factors to choose a place like Ohio State or Michigan, for instance, over IU - the administrations and boosters at those schools choose to support the programs at vastly different levels (RTCs, etc.) - but damn, it would be nice for IU (or Purdue) to land those kids and become competitive in the conference.
  5. Is this really a possibility? Lemley wrestled 132 in HS last season, correct? Edit: same question as Wildcat had a couple minutes sooner.
  6. Also for context, Jesse Owens ran on tracks made of cinder, with no starting blocks, and still recorded a pr of 10.2 in the 100 and 20.7 in the 200. I don't know how closely you follow track, but there are people out there who have analyzed Owens vs. Usain Bolt and have concluded that Owens is basically within a stride of the fastest track athlete in history in the 100m when you level out the surface/equipment disadvantages. There's next to zero chance Owens would DNQ for an NCAA sprint final. I understand the point you're trying to make, but Owens isn't the guy you want to hold up to make that point.
  7. 2013 (17) - Jr World gold 2014 (18) - Jr World bronze 2015 (19) - World gold *2016 (20) - Olympic gold *2017 (21) - World gold *2018 (22) - World silver 2019 (23) - World bronze 2020 (24) - Olympic silver 2021 (25) - World silver 2022 (26) - World gold 2023 (27) - World bronze *also won NCAA titles Aside from Snyder earning world-level medals in every year since 2013, including five golds and three silvers, I agree with you. The US just isn't performing at 97kg. Time to put that old dog down. By the time the 2024 Olympics roll around, he'll be 28 and way past his prime. It's really hard to see why there aren't young guys knocking Snyder off. It's not as if you have to be a world-level gold medal contender to beat him. I'm not sure you really thought this one through.
  8. He does have a chance, but Taylor is the favorite. I don't expect a 7-1 win again, but I do expect Taylor to win in the 4-1 / 5-2 range
  9. Good riddance? What the hell is wrong with you. That kid busted his ass for MN. If he wasn't physically or mentally prepared to return, at least part of that has to be on the medical and coaching staff, yes? If he was too injured to wrestle (which is appeared from the outside) then he shouldn't have been out there.
  10. I like that Kenny Monday isn't messing around in year one. That's a challenging slate for a first-year program, especially one that's almost entirely freshman. I'll be rooting for Morgan State to have success.
  11. PSU is likely very competitive in a match against a lineup of the rest of DI. It's an impressive collection of talent.
  12. Then it's an illogical and absurd standard. Every current D1 heavyweight would lost to Masoumi in a similar fashion. There aren't guys like him in D1. I tend to agree that Carroll would benefit from a redshirt season like most freshman would, just completely disagree that his match with Masoumi is any sort of barometer for that decision. It's not like we just watched him get teched by Lucas Davison.
  13. Not sure this is the match to troll Carroll supporters for. Masoumi has won Cadets, U20 and U23 worlds already. He's a senior-level medal threat right now. Literally the only takeaway is that Carroll isn't the best age-group 125kg in the world, which we already knew.
  14. Because more people in the US are familiar with folkstyle and also have unhealthy obsessions with the universities they attended or support.
  15. So you're telling me I need to click a link to the see the rest of the results?
  16. I don't personally gamble on apps, but placing bets quickly and almost unconsciously is part of the design. They make it very, very easy to place wagers. I'm not saying 1,283 doesn't seem like a large number of wagers over the time period for most people, but placing that many bets via an app that you can access 24 hours a day isn't the most noteworthy thing in the complaint.
  17. Swiderski needs to be at 149 because he is too big to make 141 regularly...but this situation with Johnson makes it a bit simpler to sort out in the room, I'd guess.
  18. This is the best looking mat in college wrestling. Prove me wrong.
  19. Probably because he couldn't walk very well anymore. He put his body through the ringer.
  20. Your condescension aside, you keep throwing your vague opinion out there without any real substance. Worse than what? 94% of team titles are owned by six schools. Greater advantage than when? Transfers and recruits have always been attracted to the best teams. No one is buying titles anymore than they ever have by fully supporting their programs. Koll can (and will) do the same thing as anyone else as soon as Stanford catches up. He'll use the portal to recruit over the kids HS kids he's lying to right now. He'll use NIL enticements and the Cardinal Wrestling Club as draw. The NIL and portal aren't boogeymen.
  21. Since the NCAA began hosting DI championships, there have only been 11 different team champions. There have been five, one-time winners. Six schools have won 82 of the 87 titles that the NCAA has handed out. Nineteen schools have been runners-up and only nine of those 19 haven't won the title. NIL didn't do that. The transfer portal didn't do that. Wrestling has always been top-heavy and various methods have been used to get to the top of the heap. Koll is a smart guy, but he's spouting off with his sanctimonious nonsense to send a message (also lying) to recruits that he's not going to recruit over you via the portal (which he undoubtedly will, given the chance). Do you really think Koll is going to keep trotting out a team full of guys who can't win in the Pac 12?
