  1. Did he flop or was it a scramble? I'm confused now. I have so many questions: If only one guy is scrambling, is it a scramble? If one guy lets another guy roll to his back, is it a scramble? If you try to create a scramble but no scramble happens, is it a scramble? If no one claims that it was a turn, can they be pretending it was? If the top guy doesn't secure the bottom man, can he pin him? Did he pin himself?
  2. This is not a scramble. Labriola had been ridden for nearly a minute at that point. On the restart, he was trying to do something/anything against a guy who beat him in progressively more dominant fashion in every bout of their college careers, including a demoralizing defeat at the B1G championship less than two weeks before the NCAAs. Let's not frame this as if Labriola and Starocci were on level terms and one guy got caught. Back to the topic: Arnold isn't ready for Starocci, Twitter/X bravado aside. He might be able to keep the score closer than a tech fall by not engaging, holding and blocking - much like he did in the third period and most of the match against Feldkamp, but that doesn't mean the version we saw against Iowa State is in any way ready for Starocci.
  3. Yep. Arnold managed one successful offensive attempt against Feldkamp, refused to take bottom and spend the third period stalling to run the clock out. If Arnold takes that approach against Starocci, he'd be destroyed or DQ'ed for stalling. He might think he wants some of Starocci, but that would end up worse than it did for Mason Parris when he thought he wanted some of Gable Steveson.
  4. Worse. The Arnold I watched last night gets teched by Starocci.
  5. Nah. Escobedo has won more B1G duals in his first five years than Goldman won in his last eight. Escobedo is 8-34 over his 5 years in the B1G. Goldman went 6-62 in his last 8 years, five of those were winless conference seasons. Goldman would beat the likes Bellarmine, Eastern Michigan and Manchester in duals.
  6. It warms my heart to see how the rule change to a three-point takedown has people discussing the relative value of all things wrestling.
  7. Which school's resources am I working with?
  8. Doing nothing can be/likely is a sign that he doesn't have the confidence to use his injured shoulder, his fitness isn't there yet, or any number of things. If you want to describe how he's wrestling as regression, fine by me, though the description doesn't matter much. He's not performing like the top recruit he was. Whether that's physical, mental, a combination or he's somehow lost his ability to wrestle, the question he and PSU have to answer is whether they can change the direction this thing is going. Because I don't think it's likely he forgot how to wrestle, I'm still leaning toward the recovery from the injury, both physically and mentally, is why he looks like he does. It's not a simple thing for everyone to overcome when you suddenly can't perform the way you've always been able to.
  9. I'm not calling him a lock to be in Penn State's lineup.
  10. Howard hasn't been wrestling for something like two years because of injury, correct? I'm willing to cut anyone some slack in that situation. It takes a bit to get your fitness back to where it needs to be. Definitely a lot of factors in play, but it's not always easy to get your mentality right when the injuries pile up.
  11. This thread has probably run its course. Iowa's head coach thinks this is all unfair and doesn't want his guys to be accountable for their actions. His wife got thrown under the bus, his voice inflections were weird, this is a conspiracy against his team and the media is at fault for not asking the diversionary questions he wants asked.
  12. Agreed. That tournament was a meatgrinder.
  13. So Duane Goldman...err Mike Mena is the answer. Dubuque's two nattys, 3x AA and don't forget Angel Escobedo, a champ and 4x All-American at 125
  14. Ladies and gentleman, I present to you the president of the Willie Saylor fan club!
  15. In retrospect... I kid. I kid. Seriously, I applaud this approach to recruiting by Mr. Lee. Spencer needed to make his own decision - even if this version of the process is a bit romanticized for the target audience.
  16. Ohio State is doing live updates if you don't have ACCN+ https://ohiostatebuckeyes.com/news/2023/11/10/wrestling-no-7-ohio-state-at-no-3-virginia-tech-live-updates
  17. https://www.trackwrestling.com/tw/seasons/MainFrame.jsp?TIM=1699662152486&twSessionId=yfsghqmaoq&loadBalanced=true&pageName=%2Ftw%2Fseasons%2FDualMatches.jsp Looks like a mixed lineup for IU. To be fair, I'm not sure what the lineup will look like for this season.
  18. Guess what the school web address is? https://calbaptist.edu/
  19. While I can appreciate brand management, sometimes you are what the people say you are. Resistance is futile. Credit to the Cal Baptist SID for sending the email that his boss told him to send because someone saw a Tweet.
  20. Like I said, I'm probably in the minority, but Ferrari isn't getting manhandled by Kerk. He's not Tate Orndorff. I hope the match happens. Ferrari, if nothing else, is train-wreck entertaining.
  21. Nah. That match was one-sided. Woods was clearly superior in that match.
  22. I may be in the minority here, but I don't think Ferrari loses to Kerkvliet if those rumors of him not having a chance to reach 197 are true.
