  1. You must not spend much time on land used for cattle. Rich land doesn't see much of a problem but marginal land does not benefit from cattle or sheep. Don't know about goats or alpacas or other odd animals.(USA) Cattle are very hard on marginal and dry lands. Especially so on water sources. They wade in and cause a lot of problems with bank collapse and erosion. Utah built Jordanelle dam and was putting in interpretive signs. Accurate signs detailed the reality of cattle grazing on water holes and streams. A State Legislator who raised cattle forced their removal. Seems accurate information was not wanted and he had the clout to get the signs removed and others put in. (wrestling related as this is near Heber City, home of Cael Sanderson)
  2. Iowa will never be the same until The Terrible Two get over their current case of PTFD. John Smith is over it and look at how Oklahoma State is performing. Now Tom & Terry are suffering and it has hit the whole team. Will it take two full seasons for them to be Ferrari Free like it has for John Smith?
  3. Makes more sense. Listening to it during a match I must have missed that with my ears so full of Resilite...
  4. Watching PSU at Iowa I heard one of the announcers say that the Penn State wrestlers(in this dual) had 191 takedowns so far this season while the Iowa wrestlers had a grand total of 16. Is this accurate? I know Iowa seems to rely on stall & pray while trying to be UberGrinders - but a difference of 175 takedowns so far in the season? That is a difference that is difficult to believe. Did not count the number of takedowns in each match during the dual. What is the total on this one? How can Iowa fall so far in a basic offensive move?
  5. Live close to the US/Canadian border. Border Patrol uses this strategy more than you think. No matter, it is effective most anywhere since weed is still a controlled substance and illegal on the federal level. Look at is like jaywalking - if a cop wants to screw with you the law is still there on the books. Nail someone with these small things to pressure them - or any other reason. A few years ago in Utah a Mayor had assistants nailed for jaywalking when a dispute with the Police Dept was going on. Kind of like getting stopped for "broken tail light" or "crossed the center line". Or, maybe in language you can understand..., "Athletes gambling"?
  6. The world is full of cowards and selfish people.
  7. Had a coach once drill us on straight ahead football tackles to take it to this type of staller. We did it in some matches and it worked. After bowling some over and flattening a couple directly to the back it stopped. Against very high level competition - don't know if it would work. But it sure put some fear in to these guys.
  8. What does Nebraska have to do with a cheezy looking Polar Bear? Or does this come from the Biological Sciences Dept who know that N on his chest stands for knowledge?
  9. Farm country has Anthrax. Louisiana has Ricin.
  10. Idaho is so lame. "Famous Potatoes"? Go ahead, name one - and the Idaho Spud candy bar doesn't count. Make it "Famous for Potatoes" and it is much better.
  11. How is it worse? Marijuana is illegal in the US no matter what your local State laws say. All it takes is one Federal Officer to nail you for it. Maybe the charge won't stick but you will have an arrest on record. Maybe spend a day or a few days in a jail cell waiting to be arraigned. Worse is getting stopped in locations where Federal Court is a long distance away. You get transported there, shackled and then held. Your vehicle is impounded and searched and by the time you are let out your vehicle has racked up storage charges and may be a few hundred miles away. You get the wrong cop and your paperwork gets lost. Maybe your wallet and money as well. Then you are let out, no vehicle nearby and you now have no money, no credit cards, no ID. It does happen - Border Patrol in our area does it way too often. Problem here is Federal Court is 500 miles away. All this for an ounce of pot - and an attitude that pissed off the wrong cop. Border Patrol can stop anyone for any reason within 100 miles of the border.
  12. Nothing good comes from hanging around with junkies and drug types.
  13. This from Tarphawk on the Hawkeye board. Topic is "Is the Brands' era entering Zalesky level?" Tale of the tape: Gable (21 seasons): Avg NCAA pts/yr: 120.8. Avg NCAA placement/yr: 1.57. Avg champs/yr: 2.1 Zalesky (9 seasons): Avg NCAA pts/yr: 91.3. Avg NCAA placement/yr: 3.33. Avg champs/yr: 1.1 Brands (16 seasons): Avg NCAA pts/yr: 92.0. Avg NCAA placement/yr: 3.19. Avg champs/yr: 0.8 Zalesky won 4 team titles in 9 seasons. Brands has won 4 team titles in 16. Zalesky coached 8 individuals to 10 NCAA titles in 9 seasons. Brands has coached 8 individuals to 13 titles in 16 seasons. Brands is very good at being in the top 4, but less good at winning team titles or developing individual champs. --------------------------- After Iowa Jim Zalesky wen to Oregon State and is now at University of Jamestown in North Dakota. Zalesky did not make the Olympics. Tom Brands did a well as win a World Title. That may have been part of the reason Brands replaced Zalesky. If Brands is pushed out - where does he end up? Really shows how hard it is to replace a legend. Dan Gable was a legend. Cael Sanderson is a legend now. When he retires - who takes over and will they have the same success? Cael does not seem to be tiring or getting old. Gable was visibly aging and replacement body parts factored into his retirement. Is Cael having those issues? Gable entire persona was wrapped up in mat time with his wrestlers. I don't see that with Cael. Seems to have a more balanced approach and it is working for him. No matter what we have greatness in coaching and are lucky to be able to watch.
  14. With all their money WHY can't the school fit the room with some sound modification panels so we can actually hear what is asked and said without the major reverberation and noise interference? This is similar to watching Penn State wrestle on their home mat with all the White overpowering the view and the camera operators not smart enough to change the settings for clean images. Set up the interview room a bit and these video clips would be much easier to view. Most take place in the same area.
  15. You summon Ferrari and have him use his Superior Christian Faith to intercede and give Penn State a 24 hour case of "The Runs".
  16. OSU has not been doing great at the NCAA tournament. Not as big a failure as Iowa, but overall not that good. Now that John Smith seems to be recovered/improving from PTFD and has added Coleman Scott to the staff - will they start performing when it is crunch time? They have been looking good and getting better. Smith is looking more upbeat with fewer 'angry grandpa' snits on the sidelines this year. Can they push for 2nd? Is it realistic?
  17. One problem with this. We have five different people who use this computer. Saves us 44 miles driving to get to the Public Library to use theirs.
  18. Cleveland Indian is Bob Feller. Indian Athlete is Jim Thorpe.
  19. That, coupled with John Smith finally recovering from PTFD. (Post Traumatic Ferrari Disorder)
  20. Penn State does not start backups in this one. Iowa does better and takes at least four weights. The squawkeyes will be up for this one but they don't have the horses to win it.
  21. Yes, it is about time to add a weight class and up the poundage for heavies. Add 225 and up the top guys to 300 or 320. We no longer have a 115 pound class. People are getting bigger and heavier. NFL and other pro sports have many big guys who are too heavy to wrestle because of the 285 limit. Many of them are not lardbutts, but athletes who carry the weight and have no problems with being fat. No to going back to Unlimited at the top. Making adjustments is only rational now as we are seeing more and more top grade athletes with the frame and flexibility formerly associated with smaller competitors. Yes, it would add one more weight class. That would help eliminate ties in match wins in duals. It would be more realistic in addressing the big wrestlers needs for a weight class that fits todays athletes. USA Wrestling could go along and start lobbying International bodies to follow suit. We see other countries who have to cut larger wrestlers as they have trouble getting down to the 276 pound limit. Bigger, faster, stronger - it is reality today. Why not make it reality on the mat?
  22. All that and not one wrestler on the team pinned his opponent?
  23. Cael and Satan. Mormon Temple clearly teaches Satan is the God of this world.
