  1. But there is always the possibility that he doesn't want them to get a tougher workout. Taylor talked about how he never had a rest day until he went to PSU. (also, I just realized the fact that Nolf and Starocci probably don't wrestle each other very often these days...)
  2. I think this also included trophies from NCAA regionals in various sports. That still doesn't add up to $4 million, but it is a bit more.
  3. I'm sure he's all about helping them be MMA fighters... after they've used up their eligibility.
  4. Interesting... can't see that one going over very well in a Cy-Hawk!
  5. My point is that I don't think the wrestlers are practicing striking and kimuras during PSU practices. They can certainly roll with MMA fighters in practice, and work striking on their own time (maybe), but probably not something Cael encourages on his time or dollar.
  6. When was the last rule change that directly affected tournament scoring from bonus points? 1994?
  7. I'm not aware of PSU actively helping guys become MMA fighters?
  8. Again, a good idea, but I don't see it happening. We already run out of mat space in college matches (athletes end up on the floor) and no administrator is going to approve incentivizing a blast double onto the gym floor. Yes, it exists in freestyle, but no AD is going to be a fan. (some lawyers might be)
  9. The real question is; did the "Jesus Trained" Bull think it was a Christian school when he moved in to town to wrestle for them?
  10. - I think a 3 point reversal would further disincentive top wrestling. We don't need less top wrestling. - I really like the idea of the stepout in freestyle. In theory, I like it in folk. However it doesn't work. Imagine a guy getting an escape next to the edge and then immediately stepping out in the process as he gets to his stance. He gained a point and then immediately gave up a point. There are plenty of similar issues that would occur and ways to game the system.
  11. Are you thinking it is a religious institution, or because of the number of "move ins?"
  12. Very interesting! But I thought he said "8 years old." It was a good listen, Taylor has some interesting experiences. It did remind me of a spat I got into on this board when I insinuated that Taylor had a "crazy wrestling dad." I was told that Mr. Taylor was as normal as they come and he only moved to Graham because there is an airport nearby and he is a pilot... and his daughter rode horses.
  13. Redshirts occur for various reason. I'm pretty sure PSU redshirts kids with both short term and and long term team goals in mind. (Especially now with the upcoming logjam at multiple weights). Look at Zain: Started out redshirting as a freshman; they pulled it... only for him to redshirt the next year. It was based on team needs. Iowa has said they pull redshirts 'if the kid is ready' and can help them. O'Toole would have redshirted as a freshman if it weren't a "free year." I'm honestly not sure how much academics play into it these days. The kid was accepted to the school, the athletes get tons of support if they need it academically. (More than the average student has access to)
  14. Said lady looks like a Frankenstein monster of plastic surgery now. Some may like it, but I think it is actually pretty sad.
  15. With Echemendia, you have the shady age related allegations, where some contend that he may have been in his 20s wrestling in high school and Fargo. Then you have the felony where he allegedly attempted to strangle his female significant other. (Not sure if they are still married or ever were married.) Then if you search her name, you can find at least one other public altercation between the two. It pops right up. Those are just his google trophies. Who knows what else is out there? It was enough to get Ohio State to cut ties.
  16. No, I don't like it in either case. TBH I wasn't sure if Arnold had done something else. Neither is ready for the people they have antagonized online. While Starocci may well bonus Arnold, I think Starocci would be in a lot more pain if he faced any of those UFC fighters anytime soon!
  17. What antics? Calling out Starocci? Starocci who has flirted with retirement on social media, called out Sidakov (whom he will never wrestle), and called out numerous UFC fighters that he will never face?
  18. I'm not a fan of his whatsoever, but he's got some competition for biggest POS. I would prefer that he just goes away.
  19. Or maybe he wants us to think that he is using reverse psychology?
  20. Word from (semi-reliable) sources have AJ weighing around 210, down from 230ish.
  21. BTW are the still called "tweets" or are they something else?
  22. CT Wrestling online. Great Source! (Notice PRTC didn't write the article.)
  23. Rich Perry would be great! (and I complimented him) Using the wrong term... not so much. There's a big difference between the terms. You wouldn't say that the Bufflo Bills were 4x Super Bowl champs in the 90s. Would you. No "rabbit hole," just "correct" vs. "incorrect."
  24. OK. So how did Jason Nolf do at Worlds last year? You would say he was on a World Team, right? I mean he was second in WTT, right? Definitions of terms matter.
