  1. His sister went on the flo insta to confirm this exact pronunciation.
  2. Same high school too, I think. But I thought Askren gave a lot of credit to Mike Eierman for funk development?
  3. Possibly too good at scrambling for Iowa. (with that being said, Spencer was one of the better scramblers in recent years)
  4. 30 years ago, I was on a D2 team generally ranked in the 9th to 16th range. We probably wrestled almost half of our matches against lower tier D1 schools, and had plenty of dual wins. Much different time, though.
  5. Well, I suppose Foxcatcher beat them to it with Val, but I can't remember it happening in large numbers until PSU and the RTC era. They were certainly a pioneer in this regard.
  6. Perhaps fewer than 100 people over the age of 18 named "Austin Gomez" in the US (according to an unreliable internet source.) Still, I think its likely we have a match.
  7. His ambush phone-in to FRL was very heel-like, so is his "off the mat vibe." Gives off Bond-villain type energy.
  8. I think PSU started this though. Multiple foreign wrestlers: Uzbekistan, PR, Mexico, anyone else?? (and Micic doesn't train at U of Michigan; he has his own facility in Chicago) I heard the PSU rumors today too... seems somewhat unnecessary for PSU, but there is the RBY connect.
  9. Seems to be a pretty popular book with some Ivy leaguers these days,
  10. That's what is known as a "heel turn" in sports-entertainment circles.
  11. I think Alger is pretty popular in retirement, but he was brutal as a competitor. Amazing for a Hawk, he is pretty tight with the Smiths of Oklahoma State. Not so sure about his relationship with Kevin Jackson, though...
  12. Back to this: I would consider 3rd place a contender. Furthermore, I can certainly see MM beating Carr if he sees Carr in the semis. 1. MM has similar international accolades 2. MM has better practice partners 3. MM has Cael 4. MM can learn from his bff KOT on what to expect from Carr Carr is the favorite, but I am not the least bit surprised if MM pulls it off.
  13. Yes, Cael looked extremely grateful when he threw a chair at an official.
  14. Might be tough to produce since it likely disappeared with the old forum. You knew where you stood. No one ever said anything about Cael playing favorites, but maybe PSU is stronger with Messenbrink at 165. Maybe they want him to grow? Who knows?
  15. Yes. You were talking "national team in high school" before the first Ferrari loss. Just like "Messenbrink only beat Haines... because freestyle." Now you have MM as a contender. Sealey may well end up better than Ferrari in college, but he's lost some of that shine.
  16. Certain people on this board ate this James Green quote up: " “I feel like Joe Sealey could make the national team at the senior level. The kid has lot of talent. He has heavy hands. He’s got an extreme, hard pace. It’s not the same in a two-minute span so that might get him a little bit trying to wear someone down within four minutes. If he gets his hands on you he’s going to make you feel him and he’s going to make you regret it. He’s got a great style and a great feel. I think he’ll be making a lot of people tired. They’ll need some help up off the mat.” Now the same people are saying "the top 10 at 165 would eat Ferrari's lunch." Make up your mind. Stand up!
