  1. Back to the original question: Yes. They could, and likely would, win a Natty in another sport if given the opportunity.
  2. Here is one for you... https://www.flowrestling.org/events/5009962-/videos?playing=5598977
  3. Not really sure why he is dismissing Barr. Barr is likely looking at 3 or 4 years starting. Not sure why someone puts Ryder ahead of Barr at this point. Barr is a year ahead and is in the room now.
  4. Awesome for Davison, man. It was cool to see that he didn't even take a visit to Michigan when he committed this last spring. He just knew. Despite him and Parris getting quite heated in more than one of their matches, they seem to get on nice. That is awesome and hopefully we see some sort of level jump from Davison this season. It looks like he won't have Cassioppi to contend with and Steveson might very well be out too... That would be cool as hell to see Michigan get two in a row at HWT.
  5. Ottawa County? Nice. I frequent the shores on your end of the state as often as I can. One of my kiddos lives in the Grand Rapids area. It is difficult when you actually know things. My boy did tell me that Parris was keeping fresh in case the WWE did not allow him to go. I am happy that Parris was able to face Gwiazdowski and beat him at OTT so there was no doubt as to who should have been the rep to go. When I saw Davison listed I texted damn near everybody I knew in and around the program still to ask if Parris got the nod and got injured so the only one ready was Davison and basically all of them did say 'Parris is fine and good to go' more or less. Almost scripted, so it does make sense now. I feel for Steveson. You never leave wrestling after you are done. It isn't as port or a game, it's a way of life and a mentality that you don't escape - ever. You always have that itch. Hell... I am far above the 61 KG back in the day... depending on the day it's 70 KG or 74 KG... but whenever I see some of these older guys giving it a go... I want to as well.
  6. And the real zinger is that Soccer is actually Football. So by proxy everything else is, too.
  7. 65 KG - Lee - Bartlett 70 KG - Retherford - SVN 74 KG - Dake - Facundo 86 KG - Taylor - Brooks?
  8. That is what I said. I also said that.
  9. Mason 'Gableson' Parris was at all the Team USA camps and has been going non-stop. He will be fine.
  10. I am with you and I agree... I just don't want to dismiss Mason as a legit thread yet. I don't see anything that Zare does that Mason shouldn't be able to physically handle. He is bigger, faster, and stronger than last time - same as Zare.
  11. Definitely not crazy if you factor in that Steveson hasn't wrestled a competitive match internationally since the 2020(1) Oly games. Ergo he isn't an active international wrestler.
  12. He also decked Zare while winning last time they wrestled a few years back. To assume Zare is the only one who has been improving would be a farce.
  13. Imagine if(when?) he wins gold how silly that makes the rest of the wrestling world look. He got sonned by Steveson... again. Three times this year. And Steveson hasn't been actually wrestling competitively. The biggest baddest wrestling man on the planet (weight classes exist for a reason) isn't even the best wrestler.
  14. My favorite thing there was visiting the Kalemegdan(?) fortress. It also has some wicked cool (and rather suspenseful) underground... tunnels? By the time we got there I was a bit drunk. The unfortunate thing about there is I can drink 4 gallons of their finest wine like nothing... take down a half gallon of absinthe and I start forgetting what language I speak. Especially since finding a 82 oz NY Strip isn't really a thing you can do in Belgrade.
  15. @ILLINIWrestlingBlog The link is at the beginning of this for entries.
  16. This is me with my tinfoil hat on... which I don't typically wear... that said I don't even support this theory just acknowledging that it could be true: TheMat JC =/= Intermat JC The data is there to support this. He was an avid Hawkeye fan in his early days at TheMat and then went to a 'Penn State' fan... while actually just being a troll and not an actual fan. Here he has picked up on that but mellowed a significant amount on the trollinese. He was actually responding to the 'pay your debts' in some regards before and here he ignores it. This could legitimately be like the Avril Lavigne 'body double replacement' poppycock. I don't necessarily think it is. Evidence might say otherwise depending on the eyes that are scrutinizing it.
  17. The same reason I think Cole does is a big reason I don't think Sealey does. He is right in the middle of a bunch of hot weight classes. I put him on level with Kasak, but Kasak might be going 149 so we will see.
  18. When the article was first released it had Steveson and Parris both listed. Now it just has Davison. My hope is that Davison is in fact going, but as Parris's training partner and that Parris is actually the guy going. Even as an avid Parris fan I know that is a serious downgrade from Steveson, as it were.
  19. Playing devil's advocate here... didn't Seal beat Ryder pretty comfortably within the last two calendar years? Also I think Cole, while possibly the least highly rated of the bunch, likely has the best shot to start the most matches.
  20. Here is where I might put them as of now. I considered moving Cole UP to the 2nd Tier, mainly because he is looking to be the only HWT on the roster. While I don't see it, Ryder or Barr could conceivably grow in to 197. A big reason Seal is so low is because they have so much depth there already. I think Lilledahl is going to be a multi-time AA regardless of the weight. They will get him in. Some guys, such as Davis and Gibson need to be a certain weight or the bell curve catches up to them a bit quicker. I think Barr and Ryder are both 184 type guys. 1 - Luke Lilledahl - 125 T-2 - Luke Lilledahl - 133, Luke Lilledahl - 141, Josh Barr - 184, Zach Ryder - 184 T-6 - Braeden Davis - 125, Mason Gibson - 125, Tyler Kasak - 149, Tyler Kasak - 157, Joseph Sealey - 157, Josh Barr - 174, Zach Ryder - 174, Connor Mirasola - 197, Cole Mirasola - HWT T-15 -Joseph Sealey - 165, Braeden Davis - 133 T-17 - Joseph Sealey - 174, Mason Gibson - 133 18 - Mason Gibson - 141
  21. I would argue 61 KG as well. Arujau could lose to a few guys that aren't Russian (Dake and Snyder have failed to meet Russo's in the finals as well rather recently), but the only one I just don't see him being able to beat is the Russo. That puts peak for him at Silver or Bronze as well.
  22. Right. At the end of the day whoever has to face the guys who lose to to the eventual champion the very next round have the bad draws and the bad draw is the eventual WC, regardless of seeding.
  23. I am curious on who was ruled ineligible. IIRC women who were married to involved men (as well as men to women) could also be deemed ineligible. So it could be completely random. How did they get 235 athletes? 10 x 3 = 30. 30 x 2 = 60. Did they attempt to vet as many people within the federation as possible or does this also include U17, U20, and U23? If it includes all four then that makes it 240 total.
