I mean guys like Gable and Smith didn’t/don’t lose much in general… Pat Pop can beat Smith in a couple weeks however… Are there even many active “trees”? Meaning the guy they wrestled/coached under is still active? I’d guess Gable has the most branches. Cael basically killed the tree he grew from :-). And it seems like a lot of other current coaches took over after their tree retired. We will have the Tom Borelli quad in a few weeks though with CMU against Campbell, American and Bakersfield.

Because I was bored and couldn’t fall back asleep when I originally made this post, I clicked on the profiles of the comments in question. I’m no forensic IT dude, but while there may have been a bit of trolling involved, they all made semi-regular posts about random topics unrelated to racism that interested them, so I did not get the impression that any were “bad actors,” but who knows. And like I said earlier, I totally get that X/Twitter is a cesspool. But that particular post seemed worse than usual at least in regards to wrestling conversation.

I don’t recall the specifics of all of Nickal’s interviews, but IIRC he doesn’t talk about Jesus nearly as much as guys like Brooks or Marinelli.

One other tangent on the whole “growing the sport” thing is that while adding another subscription service isn’t ideal for wrestling fans, it’s also potentially exposing wrestling to fans of the UFC that already subscribe to Fight Pass.

Does Mizzou have any other duals on there? Their schedule only indicates the duals on Flo, but there are several away duals against good teams that don’t list the streaming info (such as Stanford 1/10, WVU 1/26, Cornell 1/28, and Iowa State 2/25).

Yea it might depend how the rankers consider the All-Start match. I don't know if anyone "weighs it lower," I think they either count it as a regular match (Flo), or that it didn't happen at all (Intermat). If it didn't happen at all then it's Noto for sure. If it happened I could still see it as Noto, but I don't think it's "easy" and Surtin has an argument IMO.

Although getting off topic but speaking of x/twitter being a cesspool, I have also noticed a steady increase in porn accounts replying to wrestling posts which is annoying…

When everyone else is taking losses, it kinda is. 3 of his 4 losses at NCAA’s are to guys that graduated. Prior to this season, his only losses to guys in the current field were to Barnett and Surtin. In 2022 he had wins over Ayala and Caleb Smith, as well as Latona. Speaking of Surtin, IMO he should be #1 now, and he would fit your same definition of “a guy that’s been around awhile and has never AA’d.” It’s gotta be either him or Noto, but Noto lost to Ramos at the All-Star and Surtin did pin Noto in their only meeting at 2022 NCAA’s.

I don’t really follow the UFC but don’t they have some fights on ESPN+? That would seem like the most likely merger. Plus there is also some collaboration with ESPN+ and ACC/Big 12 so ESPN seems willing to partner. Flo used to have a deal with BTN but seems like BTN was the one that broke that off. Yeah I highly doubt Flo and Rokfin will be joining forces on anything. Sorry @Husker_Du Rokfin seems like the most likely to be the odd man out…it’s the most expensive subscription, including a recent 50% price increase despite less live college/international wrestling content than it had when it first started not to mention the live events it does have often requiring an additional cost (seems like they’ve been having more HS events but that’s probably a different audience). And the presence of all the weird non-wrestling content will likely also prevent collaboration with a sports-focused streaming company. Although if it’s true USAW is coming out with its own streaming service, Flo could be in trouble too as they seem to be getting less and less access to high profile events.

The wrestlers seem to care a little, like when they took that picture a few years back of all the black national champs, which I thought was a cool thing to do. Yes, people should all be treated the same but it’s still okay to be aware of your own/other people’s heritage.
