  1. Davidson probably got the idea from ISU, Marcus Coleman and owner of 4 injury default wins at the 2020 Last Chance Open is one of their coaches
  2. Kudos for Lindenwood guys going considering they’re not eligible for NCAA’s and their team got dropped, although I know they’re just there to pad other guys’ records
  3. You realize those 2 matches occurred over a span of 7 days right? Could be various other things going on, or not
  4. Maybe we see Kueter vs Hutmacher after all
  5. And if he didn’t do that he probably wins the match…
  6. I’m most interested to see Truax’s adjustments vs Soldano, who’s kinda the same person as Rogotzke
  7. Hey @ILLINIWrestlingBlog, what’s up with Luffman? Injured? He hasn’t wrestled since Midlands
  8. Can you elaborate? Are you talking about how Carter Starocci was scrolling his phone in the middle of a dual?
  9. You’re joking right? If he wins NCAA’s he did not regress… Funny you bring up Hardy, last year he beat him 11-1, 6-4, and 2-1. This year he beat him 8-2 (maybe 6-2 or 7-2 in last year’s scoring accounting for 3 pt TD’s), so right in the middle of last year’s results
  10. I don’t get how their dual comparison predicts upsets in general, if it’s all based on an algorithm shouldn’t the higher rated wrestler always win?
  11. Seems the rumor is he was sick
  12. They even put the Penn State magic into the algorithm
  13. Terps win 28-15 Good SV match at 157 between Saldate and North. Situation slightly reminiscent (but not nearly as egregious) of Davis/Kilkeary IMO where Saldate has to bridge off his back but gets off and ends up getting the Takedown himself. Situation starts around 23:00 in the video below. MSU forfeited 125 (where they would have been favored), and Hamdan got a minor upset over Kal Miller at 141, but everything else went about as expected. Full Results: 125: Tommy Capul wins by forfeit (Maryland 6-0) 133: No. 17 Braxton Brown TF (16-0, 2:41) Andy Hampton (Maryland 11-0) 141: No. 29 Jordan Hamdan dec. (6-1) No. 21 Kal Miller (Maryland 11-3) 149: No. 13 Ethan Miller TF (17-0, 4:39) Braden Stauffenberg (Maryland 16-3) 157: No. 21 Chase Saldate SV dec. (13-10) Michael North (Maryland 16-6) 165: No. 9 Caleb Fish major dec. (14-0) AJ Rodrigues (Maryland 16-10) 174: Dominic Solis SV dec. (4-1) DJ Shannon (Maryland 19-10) 184: No. 15 Lane Malczewski TF (15-0, 7:00) Chase Mielnik (Maryland 19-15) 197: No. 5 Jaxon Smith TF (18-2, 3:59) No. 30 Kael Wisler (Maryland 24-15) 285: No. 26 Seth Nevills major dec. (12-0) Josh Terrill (Maryland 28-15)
  14. Could go different ways with this. I’ll take it to mean Ramos and Gilman don’t have hard feelings towards Iowa
  15. I was impressed by Purdue’s crowd, good size and loud
  16. I doubt anyone besides Gilman considered Metcalf a traitor. It’s not like he ditched Iowa for ISU, he was coaching USA freestyle and at a high school before going to ISU. I think it’s just Gilman that’s a douche. Present tense, as evidenced by his recent tweet about Yianni. Gilman kinda had to say that to Metcalf after he left himself to try to not look like as much of a hypocrite. How does Bubba Jenkins feel about Penn State? All teams are going to have some people that didn’t like it there. And it’s interesting that the two best examples for Iowa didn’t even “leave” while they were in college but rather several years after.
  17. How many is “a number”? Feel what way? I don’t think Metcalf has any hard feelings towards Iowa, that interview was harmless. The main guys that have hard feelings towards Iowa (Gilman and Ramos, but feel free to provide some more examples if you have any), felt that way because they felt they were being replaced at HWC, after having already competed post-collegiately for several years with HWC.
  18. Kasak doesn’t look undersized to me at 149, I could see him going back down to 141 for a year or two but not sure if he stays there for his career. Can also see Davis at 133 after Nagao is gone. Looks like Gibson is wrestling 133 now so I’m guessing he’d be more likely to be 141 in a few years.
  19. Who else do they have coming in around 133/141 after Nagao and Bartlett are gone?
  20. Was Washington a duck against Welsh?
  21. Yeah I went back and found that thread where this was discussed earlier. Pretty sure Minnow deleted that post
  22. Do we know if OSU is even doing anything differently? To me, their “success” this year just seems to be due to a combination of the portal + a nice crop of freshmen/redshirt freshmen. I put success in quotes because they’re still just competing with Iowa and several other teams for second place. Seems odd that OSU and Iowa having comparable outlooks this season means that OSU has “turned things for the better very quickly,” but Iowa needs a change….
  23. Well he lost now, but I doubt anyone would have. Before the season he probably would have finished 3rd in a poll of who do you expect to be the starter
  24. This reminds me, who used to run that “last man standing” pool where you had to pick a non-AA that would go the longest without a loss or something? I’m sure Mesenbrink would have been a popular pick. But Shapiro would’ve been too…
