Well both Gilman and Burroughs are World Champions, and they both got beat by guys who have yet to medal or Win at the World Championships. But as one poster said Burroughs is battling Father Time as well as Chance, so I think the bigger upset would be Gilman. But Yianni wouldn’t be that far behind either.

Well, something is amiss with Fix. Question is, what? Is it an injury? Is it that people have figured him out? Is it something else, or a combination of things? And what does Fix do about it? Now I don’t know if Fix has any eligibility left, his Bio says that he’s a Redshirt Senior, but there’s the Covid year and an Olympic year, so idk. But if he’s done with college does he stay or does he make a move to another RTC?
-
Yeah maybe, but Gwizz has lost to Parris before. Anyway, I guess my question is, does Gwizz call it a career or does he hang in there for 2024.
-
Well I believe that the team will be Gilman, Vito, Yianni, Zain, Dake, JB, DT, MM, SnyderMan, and Gable.
-
I’m sure Colon feels bad like Gwizz. However even though Colon had a tremendous World tournament when he won his World Bronze, he did get in as an alternate. Does that make a difference in his mind, I doubt it. As for Cox vs Snyder, Snyder has been holding the advantage over Cox, and SnyderMan is a World and Olympic Champ, the guys Fix lost to weren’t. Anyway we’ll see how things work out here in a month.
-
I get that some of these other guys had performances that they didn’t want, but Fix is a World Silver medalist and this will be the 2nd year in a row that he doesn’t make the team.
-
Bad day for Fix, I wonder if whatever injury he had that prevented him from entering the Open was still hindering him. Also Kollin Moore with his arm and leg wrapped, I have to think that he wasn’t 100% either.

57 Gilman 61 Vito 65 Yianni 70 Zain 74 Dake 79 JB 86 Taylor 92 Mach 97 SnyderMan 125 Gable

Nate Jackson, Seth Gross, some head scratchers here. I understand that this is a stacked field but I am a little surprised about some of these matches.

Perhaps Gilman Should Forfeit Maybe
de4856 replied to ILLINIWrestlingBlog's topic in International Wrestling
Well there’s no doubt that Zane Richards has improved. However unless Gilman has an off day, I don’t see Zane winning. I think that Gilman just has more tools in his arsenal. I do think though that Gilman will probably move on to something else after the 2024 Olympics. But I thought for sure that Burroughs was going to hang’em up after 2020, and as we all know, he still at it. So who knows what Gilman will do. -
Well, my Mount Rushmore would be Big Bruce, John Smith, Jordan Burroughs, and SnyderMan

Steveson is NOT the GOAT & Pyles is dead wrong
de4856 replied to SocraTease's topic in International Wrestling
Well obviously one Olympic Gold doesn’t make you the GOAT, but Gable is an exception wrestler, and appears to be at the top of his game. I am looking forward to watching him compete in the World’s this year and possibly the Olympics next year. And if he wins these events we can certainly continue to discuss his greatness. -
Well I was at the U.S. Open and saw Spencer’s matches. He did not look like his knees were hurting him, or that there was something else that might be he limiting his mobility. He looked super slick until the second period of his third match. Now I’m not a doctor or anything like that, and of course what I am about to say is pure speculation, but I think that Spencer’s condition has something to do with his blood not getting O2 or something causing his muscles not to get the energy they need. It seems to me that he just falls into an energy deficit when his initial level runs out. Now I know that some people have floated the idea that because Spencer’s knees have been all tore up that he can’t train like he needs to, and yes that could very well be the case. But whatever this is, I feel that Spencer is an amazing talent and I hope that he can get past whatever this is and we get to see him wrestle again.

I know that it’s useless to say this but where’s Bo Nickal when you need him. He could be the guy at 92.

So reading the comments about David Taylor, I just had a thought, what if Taylor wasn’t at his peak at these lower weights early on. I know that he was extremely good, but maybe he was a late bloomer so to speak, and it took him several years to mature and fill out his frame, to become what he is now. Also add in the number of years that he has been training at NLWC, and David has become the best in the world at his weight.

So on the old forum by USA Wrestling there was a topic called USA All Time Ranking. In that post the author assigned a numerical value for medals and championships won. Olympic Gold 7 pts. World Champ 6 pts. Olympic medal 5 pts. World Medal. 4 pts. NCAA Champ 2 pts. NCAA finalist 1 pt. And All American.5 pts. So using this criteria Big Bruce has a comfortable lead with 70 pts. Jordan Burroughs is next with 52, then Snyder at 50, John Smith 43, Kyle Dake 37, Dave Schultz at 36, David Taylor 29. Leroy Kemp also at 29.

I thought Nick Lee was going to be the guy?
de4856 replied to Dark Energy's topic in International Wrestling
Well I watched the Lee vs Bartlett match and apparently I thought Bartlett won, but I guess I missed something, so my apologies. -
I thought Nick Lee was going to be the guy?
de4856 replied to Dark Energy's topic in International Wrestling
Well I a while back I thought that Nick Lee was going to be the future at 65, but so far, it’s just not the case. I am not sure what is going on. Tonight vs Bartlett I thought he was going to win handily but Bartlett rallied from behind and held on. So Nick is out and going to get it figured out. -
Gable is just too athletic for Mason, and has tremendous technical skill as well. I think Gable will get the better of Gwizz tomorrow. But I will say that Gwizz does look like he’s trimmed down a bit and looks like he’s been spending a fair amount of time in the weight room. On a side note Hayden Zillmer was here, but didn’t compete, anyone have any idea why?
-
Well let’s hope that Spencer can get healthy again and we can get to see him wrestle again. I guess that if there’s a silver lining to all this, is that his technique was very impressive.
-
This is just my opinion but Spencer doesn’t look right. He’s obviously super slick technically, but in his last match he was up 9-0 coming out of the break. And basically didn’t do anything in the 2nd period. It makes me think that there’s something going on with him. And I’m not talking about his knees. Tonight he will face Suriano and I think Spencer is going to have to tech him or pile up the points and hang on to get past Nick. Watching Suriano today, he looks like his old self, a lot of moving around and just enough offense, so we’ll see what happens.

Predict who competes for us at 2023 Worlds
de4856 replied to peanut's topic in International Wrestling
Does Spencer win the US Open? I believe that he will. Then the question is, does he unseat Gilman? I think that with his college career in the rear view mirror, he is probably going full tilt after the spot. -
I saw on social media that she isn’t going to accept her spot at Final X. Anyone have any idea on what’s going on with her?
-
Anyone know anything about Akmed Tazhudinov from Bahrain, he won the gold at 97 MFS.
-
I know that this has nothing to do with the subject, but I would love to see some World championships come back to the US. I know that we get the World Cup, but it would be great if we could get a U17, U20, or Seniors back here.
