  1. What do both have in common at the B1G level? 1) Great to bring out the absolute very best of select individuals (asst. level) 2) very good short-term head coach results: competitive duals, multiple AAs, 1-5 champs during tenure depending on how the brackets fall 3) given walking papers by year six at the latest because each is their own worst enemy and top-level D1 showcases their respective Peter Principle.
  2. Rumors swirling that Lee is bumping up to 133 for nationals to continue haunting Patrick "Big Duck Energy" Glory
  3. When the going gets tough, Nelson Brands grits his teeth and clamps down. Really likes to leave a mark by the time the match is over.
  4. Smoothcomp is such an awful UX. It looks like it was built in Figma by an engineer who has never seen a bracket. The only strong experience is mat scheduling so you can forecast as a coach/athlete/viewer. Everything else makes my head hurt.
  5. ummm I'm sorry but Hayden Hidley down at 70??? WHAT Cox and Snyder about to hit in the quarterfinals. It was fun while it lasted J'Den and I applaud you for seeking out the best competition. And for goodness sakes, please be sure to avoid the popara until after you weigh-in. Maybe after this he realizes that getting one more medal at 92 for an OTT bye to the semis might not be the worst idea (Kollin Moore disagrees). Geno and Zare resuming their rivalry. I hope Geno has done literally any cardio whatsoever because he always looks like an average D1 wrestler at rankings events before he remembers he is a multi-time world champ when it matters and he finally hits the bike in the fall.
  6. tsk tsk all that hard work and a lil ol' =concat did you in
  7. If you can't handle New Jersey at it's Sammy Alvarez then you don't deserve it at it's Anthony Ashnault
  8. Does Phillippi count as a dark horse if it has been 7 years in the making? 174: Edmond Ruth 184: throw a dart at the bottom side of the bracket opposite Brooks. Wherever it lands, that person has a good shot at making a run for second place. 197: anyone seeded 1-16 has a shot. Dean and Warner aren't dark horses as returning finalists but they aren't far off. So I'll say Braunagel even though I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't qualify either.
  9. I hope Spencer Lee joins NLWC after he finishes his NCAA journey for all the reasons listed in this thread: superior coaching, iron sharpens iron in the practice room, and cardio improvement. A vastly underrated aspect of the minions of Carl's cult is that they don't gas out, they are all gas no brakes from wire to wire.
  10. @Wrestleknownothing we both know the alumni list is two hundred names longer. Heck of a program from Cougars through matriculation. Is VL still the feeder? It’s been about 26 years give or take, but the pipeline seems to be stronger than ever.
  11. Never made sense but it left an impression and the results spoke for themselves. I mean, uh, my friend said that. Begrudgingly haha
  12. Perhaps there is a local wrestling club he would like to see recognized. Just hopefully nothing to do with that damned gold dot? Maybe a local cowboy boots store or something
  13. I predict by the end of the 197 match, the bow and arrow thread will be 12 pages long
  14. Please give some examples of Lee trying to break an opponent's arm or throwing racial slurs before worlds. Because that is what you directly compared Spencer Lee against, and the majority of the country has seen him act as a consummate professional in an amateur sport since he was a college freshman. Everyone loves a good heel turn but c'mon. His biggest character flaw is he... pinned a teammate and didn't high five his coach?
  15. Illinois knocked off Shane Griffith this evening
  16. Not sure what town you are speaking of so I cannot say specifics. First three I found in Rochester on Zillow where my cousin lives and all recently sold. They have a good school system and apparently very good football and girls soccer programs that he is excited about. He said Chatham is 10 miles away and has the same good schools/sports/affordable living perks. That area is not for us but it works for his family. And on that note, I'm going to bed. This has been a welcome distraction for a proper shite day at the *office 6br/4ba 7203sqft $489 sold 2020 6br/4ba 5882 sqft $490 sold 2021 7br/4ba 5825 sqft $425 sold 2021 And yes I am aware of some ugliness going on in those houses. I'm just padding the stat sheet lol
  17. Look up Rochester and Chatham those are the nice parts of Springfield (200k metro). You can also look up Bloomington-Normal, Champaign-Urbana, and Peoria for similar. All have at least 100k populations in central IL at least 2 hours from Chicagoland. Or head south. It’s a big state. Zillow is your friend if you don’t believe me.
  18. if only there were an alternative to gasoline that promotes employee retention rather than redundancy (see: coal sector), new job opportunities, and reduces emissions... https://www.illinois.gov/news/press-release.25825.html Musk is a poser but at least he got EVs out of the Bay Area and into homes nationwide. Now IL is incentivizing that growth opportunity. Also, if you don't live in the North Shore suburbs or the nicest parts of the city, cost of living in IL is very low. Like, 5,500 square feet and an acre of land for less than $500,000 in the state's capital metro area while also having a much better infrastructure than many areas. Or if rural living is your thing there are plenty of corn and bean fields as far as the eye can see. There are actually plenty in Lockport aka the very edge of the outlier suburbs.
  19. Don't forget the 5th highest GDP in the country. And again, if other states actually charged those guilty of government corruption that we all know occurs then this country would be a better place. IL is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but it's not the boogey man warzone wasteland that it is often portrayed as.
  20. I know and you're right. It's just not often that IL isn't dragged in nat'l convos so wanted to seize the opportunity to change the narrative when it came up. Anyways, this whole thing happened a few years ago with another blue chip IL recruit and it took an extra step to end up at OkSt. Just the biggest knucklehead move possible. Go literally *anywhere* else besides the bathroom being used by everyone at a major tournament smdh. Hope he gets it together but I have a feeling there will be at least one transfer in the future.
  21. Word on the street is that Tom Brands has been coaching with an injury the last few weeks. Apparently one of the starters hurt his feelings. May not recover until NCAAs but not expected to be career threatening. I think we will find out this weekend in Iowa City how the rehab is coming along.
