This happens every year with every poll that uses different criteria/algorithms. It always sorts itself out. Even last year with AB being ranked #3 at nationals despite everyone knowing he was the best guy. It mattered not.

Nelson Brands went on Twitter and said that they did have a training on this but he skipped it. Frankly I think the punishments are way too harsh and they should be allowed to wrestle so long as they never bet on wrestling. But it appears as if they programs did have something in place to inform the athletes about gambling.

There is certainly enough talent in PA to support a good Edinboro team. It's a matter of getting those kids to want to wrestle at Edinboro, which is a hard sell. I've been to Edinboro plenty of times and my sister was even on an athletic scholarship there once upon a time and it's not a very enticing place to go to school if you ask me.

Neither Chad Gable nor Jacob Kasper have anywhere near the real wrestling credentials that Gable has either. So maybe you're right in that it's the charisma/mic aspect that is holding him back because I doubt the average fan even knows those guys were NCAA wrestlers but I'll bet everybody knows who Gable Steveson is, considering Gable didn't even have to change his name and take on a gimmick in WWE. He already had name recognition and his gimmick is just his real life accolades. He already had such an advantage to go to WWE that it is sort of mind boggling that he is relegated to house shows.

Interestingly enough Nelson. Brands admitted in a tweet that he skipped the training on not being allowed to gamble on anything while an athlete at Iowa. The impression that I got was that he was trying to imply that he was ignorant of the rules so he should be spared. It's a terribly poor argument but I don't know why else he would publicly admit this.

Again, I don't know what the issue is, if there even is an issue. I was purely speculating based on how I understand the business and what the things are that I understand will hold someone back. It could be charisma like you said, I don't know. Based on what I've seen from him in interviews he doesn't appear to be a naturally charismatic person so that could be it. There are two other examples of guys like him that I can remember entering the WWE (WWF at the time) and those are Kurt Angle and Mark Henry. When they first came in they were immediately given a push. Gable has not. Historically those kinds of guys are not put on a shelf once they are introduced. However, things are very different now than they were in the 90's.
