I think your post underscores just how difficult it is to score 200 points. Literally everything would have to have gone right this year for PSU and it did not. Bartlett and Truax could have won titles and it woudn't have been enough without Starocci. Starocci could have been 100% healthy and without Bartlett and Truax winning titles it wouldn't have happened. You need a perfect storm to score 200 points these days.

Tom & Terry are still elite college coaches. I'm not an Iowa fan but I think they'd be nuts to get rid of them. Finding coaches that are at their level isn't easy and if it was you'd see a lot more programs doing a lot better.

It is often harder to win the B1G than the NCAA tournament. Cael has more NCAA titles than he does B1G titles.

This is such a weird thread. We have people advocating for special treatment of two wrestlers as if the wrestlers should get to decide who they wrestle and when. It's not how it works. Not even close.

Why do they need separated? Why would they manipulate the seeding in an attempt to get a finals matchup they want? What is the point of having seeding criteria if they just ignore it so they can generate matchups they want? They should simply use the formula/criteria like they always have and ignore who matches up against who and when.

As a PSU fan myself I have a hard time listening to AB proselytize in every interview. Like yourself I want some insight into the match and with AB we almost never get that, we just get the religion stuff. I almost never even watch his interviews.

I have mentioned this before but how would this be different from last year when Aaron Brooks lost to Coleman of Cornell but won the B1G and was ranked #3 because two other guys were conference champs and undefeated? Everyone knew Aaron Brooks was the best guy at 184lbs but his loss dropped him to three. If Carr wins the conference and so does MM then Carr would be in the same position as Aaron Brooks last year, with a conference title but has a loss. How could they justify putting Carr at #1 when they did not give that benefit to a 2x defending champion last year who was in an identical situation? Since we have precedent (last year) what is the argument here to put a 1-loss Carr who won the Big12 over an undefeated Mesinbrink who won the B1G?

The only argument I think makes sense is that because KOT was able to wrestle in 2021 it sped up his development by an entire year.

Nope. The dual was at home and Cael is still the coach. They also get calls due to Cael Sanderson and the dominance of the PSU team in general. It's a combination. Davis got the home cooking/Cael Sanderson effect. And I say that as a PSU fan.

Do PSU guys get calls? Yup. Do all superstars in sports get calls? Yup. Specific PSU guys get calls because they are elite and Cael in general gets calls because of the program he has built. Refs are human. The best guys will get the benefit of the doubt more times than not and Penn State has had the most best guys for a long time now.
