Definitely a tough one. That was his closest match of the year, but also his worst. After a very uninspiring 1-6 first period, KOT outscored Hall 7-1 the rest of the way, which I think is probably more indicative of how close the two are. That match almost guarantees though that KOT will not look past him next week.

I would recommend staying away from Westport. There are some decent bars and restaurants, but violence and shootings there are not uncommon. River Market is a very cool area, and Zona Rosa (up I-29) and The Legends (west on 70) are neat shopping, dining, and drinking areas about 20 minutes from the arena. The Power and Light district around the arena though is the best area in the city for food drink and fun, and everything is within walking distance. Ameristar Casino is also very nice, about 15 min. north. Also, all streetcars and buses in the metro are free. If you happen to get lost, don't stray too far east of the Power and Light-Midtown-Plaza strip. Some of those neighborhoods can get real sketchy real fast.

KOT and Carr are 2-2 over the last 14 months vs each other. I think KOT will win 165, but 99% confidence with Carr, MM, and Hamiti there is just slightly dumb..

And Santa Claus is better than the Easter bunny, but who gives a shit, neither one helped you win a Big Ten title.

Nothing against Carl because this is what you try to do as a coach. But anyone outside of PSU can see that this is terrible for the sport.

You like coaches who fight for their guys, but the SDSU coaches look like jerks arguing every call.

You think fans bought their tournament tickets to watch 2 Mizzou guys wrestle in the consolation bracket.

Looked like they banged heads. Titus went through a quick concussion test on the mat and couldn't continue.

I understand that there has to be some penalty for a late entry, but giving the wrestler the 14th seed is just stupid. It can screw up the whole bracket if that seed is way off, and it has the potential to royally screw the #3 seed who should ostensibly be wrestling the worst guy on the bracket in the first round. (Sorry, just saw that whole other thread about this.)

This remains to be seen. Wasn't he round of 12 last year? And he's ranked right around there this year. He could finish anywhere from high AA to DNP and it wouldn't be a surprise. No, he went 1-2 at natties, losing to the #19 and #20 ranked guys. Flo had him at #21 at the end of last season. Right now they have him at #8.

Damn, that's one of those no win/no lose situations. I trust Smith, and I think Hawks has a better chance to AA. Just wish Smith would have made the call earlier.

I was going by coaches rankings, but I did miss Fish. And the decision over Carr is nice, but I don't think it outweighs getting majored by KOT, in addition to his other loss as well. At best, Ramirez heads to nationals with 2 losses, more than any of the other 3 will have should Carr beat KOT. His only hope at a 2 seed is if both Carr and MM lose, and then maybe.

Don't see that happening. Ramirez won't get #2 with his loss to Olejnik and getting majored by KOT in the dual. And no offense to MM, he's been very impressive, but he's only wrestled 1 top ten guy this season (so far). I don't see that getting him over Carr, and leaving Carr and KOT at 2 and 3. If Carr beats KOT at Big 12's, I see it 1.Carr, 2.MM, 3.KOT, 4.Ramirez.

My bad, 3. I looked at Cunningham's jr. year when he was 142.

According to Starocci, "Coach Casey would fold that man like an accordion" . If he had a clue he'd know that Clemsen is about 8 years younger than Cunningham, and was an AA 5 weight classes heavier. I know where I'd put my money.

Resting? I don't think injuries and illness constitute resting.

Well, we know Moore is out at 133 still, and Gioffre has missed the last few, hopefully he'll be back this weekend but we'll see. Whiting did not wrestle the last dual either, and Smith has not been shy about limiting R. Elam this season. I'd be surprised though if KOT is out. He just seems like such a competitor (see E. Ruth) that unless he's just unable to go, then I'd expect to see him out there.

Sunday is match day. Mizzou is at UNI tonight.

Being a Mizzou guy has nothing to do with it. They've wrestled 3x, and KOT is 1-2. I'd say around a 50/50 bet is pretty realistic.

Cool storyline, but KOT has Carr to worry about. Hate to say it, but I'd go around a 50/50 bet there.

I'm guessing Brands, Gilman, and Smith have done their fair share to fuel the bad blood. And the fact that Brands and Smith are 7-7-1 vs each other probably doesn't help.
