  1. I don't know about everyone, its working really well right now though. despite how common it is, its really hard to teach. Two years ago I was "wrestling" (I was getting killed so badly that term might not be appropriate) an AA who isn't even known as a collar tie guy and his felt like an iron lego snapping onto my head. I had people on my head maybe a million times and never felt anything like it. It wasn't more than ten years ago that I heard a lot of prominent coaches be very wary about letting some athletes touch the head at all, because there are a lot of very effective counters, but PSU has definitively shown that the pros outweigh that danger...
  2. technically, the question is if they turn into a collar tie team quickly or slowly.
  3. Has anyone suggested he make the US team so he can get some sponsors and pay himself....
  4. if taylor himself isn't 200 lbs at this moment i'd be amazed. Give it a few years and taylor will be wrestling a lot less, then they'll get the big guy.
  5. I assume the argument would start with pointing out that he had unbelievable support from his teammates and coaches. Sort of the opposite of how Walter Johnson would be regarded if he hadn't played for the senators. in jordans defence, his importance isn't inflated heavily by what I referred to as cultural significance. By comparison Muhammad Ali was a great athlete whose remains an icon based on his time and place in history.
  6. your opinion implies a lot of important questions about what "greatest athlete" means, as well as how much their cultural significance impacted this should matter, as well as how we should weigh cultural significance today vs when they were active.
  7. someone at Flo is spitting mad you beat them to "The Taylor Effect".
  8. The answer to this question is that when Brooks intertwined his faith with his obvious disdain for taylor, he took it from a meme which wasn't particularly interesting to any who was reasonably intelligent, to something that's weird, utilitarian and not very wholesome.
  9. Can someone mention some guys who weren't state champs or were underwhelming in high school but won NCAAs?
  10. are you implying this is an achievement? I don't know the rules but it strikes me as a way to grease in a coach under the volunteer assistant.
  11. the one that aren't funny should just be translated: "I'm scared Lee wins and keeps wrestling"
  12. i think the solution that makes the most sense is everyone having that avatar.
  13. this isn't related to the topic because its a general fan comment and not related to conduct on this forum, but once I was sitting with the press people matside at the Iowa OSU meet in carver, and i was amazed at the things people would yell at john smith...it was all the gross things you would think, plus insult along of the lines of "you were a joke when you competed". I was impressed that he never even shot a dirty look because you'd have thought there was a million dollar bounty on one.
  14. he might not know what he is talking about but it takes him a really long time to say it
  15. I stay away, its like kryptonite to my patriarchal powers.
  16. if he got a lesbian dance theory degree I'd be marginally less impressed than if he got a masters in business.
  17. yeah, I'd be a lot less internally cynical about his career if he did.
  18. In my mind, the most annoying fans ever were the OSU fans on here when they seemed unbeatable in the early 2000s. It seemed like half the forum had orange in their name seemed to know even less wrestling than I did at the time...this might seem this way because everyone wasn't really used to verbal jousting on the internet at that point, so it felt clunky or stupid, or about a half dozen bias' specific to me. Iowa fans strike me as fine, but i was generally cheering for them. PSU fans are fine, except the ones who've let iowa into their heads for some reason and will grasp at any straw to imply Tom and Terry are terrible coaches and people.
