  1. “Terry” deserves it’s own individual mention here even though it falls under the Flo bundle.
  2. ASU room has to be a different kind of place, it is/has been home to some of the (purportedly) worst behavior at a few different levels, and past a certain point that attracts a specific personality. I look to the valencia brothers as a perfect example. Both the elder two were studs coming out of high school, the elder who seems a much more straight laced dude kinda vanished, and, well, we know about mr nose candy 92kg. If you’re not that speed of person, being around d-bags can be really draining. Definitely not a performance enhancer.
  3. So is this the battle of the backup 197’s who decided to stop cutting weight? Edit:all due respect, they are on the mat in a big ten match
  4. This sounds silly, but allred looks small. Is he at 197 bc he can’t best pinto? Pinto also looks enormous at 184.
  5. Does robb have any lasting side effects from his leg ordeal last year? He's an absolute hero for even being on the mat.
  6. Dang, that kid was the epitome of cool under pressure
  7. This is what I was wondering, to be ranked that high and get whooped up on like that looks like a poorly managed cut to me
  8. Any chance he saved up a bunch of videos and is gradually posting them over time? and geeze I hope not. It really looks like the rest of the team have had more than their fill of the two elder brothers.
  9. My bad, in hindsight it is a random addition, I just meant that it was an era during which the “stalling” calls from the rafters were very justified. If you go back and watch the average match from that era it was terrible. It’s 100% not a coincidence that internationally this was the US’s worst decade ever. College wrestling was all about stalling, there was such incredibly limited technical progression bc emphasis was entirely on when and where to just hang on and do nothing.
  10. Ah, well, I was not around for the 80's stuff. But the 00's was when I was wrestling high school/college, and my god was that a boring era of wrestling. It was the decade of the dropdown single leg ride, the side headlock, and living life on the out of bounds line. All the rules that have been implemented to make the sport better are because of the bad/lazy competitive behavior of that decade.
  11. Sorry malik, caliendo looks extremely athletic. Dude is built like a brick sh*thouse.
  12. To be fair, back in the day, esp in the 00's, stalling was THE strategy to success that the entire sport adopted. Wrestling back then was boring as hell. The stalling calls did used to be warranted, especially against those okie state teams.
  13. I hope Franek gets his offense figured out, he earned this NIL opportunity for himself with a killer year last year, regular performances like that always make me worry about an early exit in march, which would be lame.
  14. This is a wrestling board, so "rest of the world" here means the wrestling world. And yes, I have watched three of those four sports, even soccer when times are desperate. If you enjoy cross-sport allegories, Iowa wrestling in Carver is the Ohio State or Michigan of College football depending on the year, the tom brady patriots of the nfl, and the jon jones/anderson silva of the mma world.
  15. Dude come on. I can agree with everything you are saying about "general sports fan bases," but you have to know that carver is amongst the most lopsidedly officiated environments of any sport.
  16. Most definitely not, Iowa fans are great people, they’re just the Pats fans of wrestling, so dedicated to a team that passion overpowers objectivity. We all do it for something.
  17. The lack of self awareness and gentle indignation is what makes this perfect. What you are referring to as “sports fans behavior” is what the rest if the world recognizes as Iowa fan behavior.
