  1. Word. And since God is not beholden to the will of man, even those who do get right with the Lord will suffer the consequences.
  2. Hot take: In 5 years when the kids that hit puberty at the heights of the lockdown become upperclassmen, the pendulum will swing back. You'll have a whole generation of men with baked-in PTSD and nihilistic abandon. Some innovative coach will harness the trauma and anger.. We'll see a monstrously brutal Iowa Style.
  3. This makes sense, but their claim isn't about a covenant of works, that God rewards them for their faith and goid deeds. Their claim is just that they are instruments of the divine and mysterious plan. That they win has nothing to do with the strength of their belief. Why they win is something that mortals can't know.
  4. Yeah, idk. The thumos doesn't square with the agape.
  5. No doubt, that's not how they think about it. But, having been on the losing end of matches like theirs, it is how I would describe the feeling. Hardell Moore is a nice guy, but I didn't feel like a man after that.
  6. However, what their actions prove time and again and in devastating fashion is that they have a thirst for domination. Maybe this thirst is sublimated, but they demonstrate it every time they emasculate their opponents.
  7. Can he run the gauntlet? The safer money is on the field. But if I had to get one kid, I go with any kid wearing that magic belt.
  8. Can the atheist / agnostics really argue with him?
  9. Tell us more bc I'm not following. This seems relevatory.
  10. Brooks, et al remind me of Ariel Pink and his political musings: he writes some catchy tunes but Ludvig Von Mises he's not. . . and that's ok. It takes a long time to get good at one thing -- writing songs, beating up people, or whatever -- can't expect these folks to be experts on everything. It's like Brooks delivers a 7 minute phd-level treatise on how to humiliate another man in front of the dude's family and friends and then reverts to the cliches of 7-year-olds about mercy and how God-loves-the-little-children for his 30 second interview.
  11. This won't go anywhere, but I wouldnt say he is waiting. He is attempting to make the guy shoot. In my mind it's not that different from Desanto (?) attempting to make the guy give up inside control on the right side before scoring with the dump. You might say that he too was "waiting" for that monkey-grip tie before attempting a takedown. I don't think this is stalling. In fact, there were a lot of folks claiming that RBY was stalling because he didn't let Desanto lure him into that tie. So by some really twisted logic, you could argue that the guy not shooting on Lewan is the one stalling.
  12. We can agree that there are a variety of ways to secure a takedown, no? One way is to counter a leg attack. So if Lewan attempts to lure a guy into taking a shot so that he can counter, then he isn't stalling by this definition.
  13. Idk. He doesn't run. He walks right at the guy and wrestles with his hands. Yeah, he rarely commits to leg attacks and doesnt seem to force a short offence game plan. He is just supremely confident in his shot defense. (He was dead-to-rights 2x (5?) last night, and the guy didn't score.) I don't think this is stalling.
  14. That said: why wasn't Davis stalling when he was burying his head while Deaugustino was digging in underhooks? Btw that inside trip attempt was .. ummm "ill-advised"(?) If would have been cool- looking if it worked, I guess. But that put the circus in crazymfncircusmove.
  15. Idk. It looks like they are playing a different sport than everybody else. They make stuff that's hella hard look like they are drilling. Yesterday, Brooks was running a middle school style bar-half. I thought Stieber freakish when he did it on light weights. Wtf.
  16. Emotional hedging. I like it, and 100% real.
  17. HS ... Jr Hodge is hard to argue with, but what about Patrick Bond or Jeremy Ferry (Dream team / 1st Team Asics AA '95)? Post-HS is more difficult. Lots of GB and CB guys lit it up in HS but had middling college careers. Tucker would be my choice, but what about Carl Perry or Devin Carter? Idk
  18. Recency bias. The last two Iowa duals have been ugly.
  19. VA = Gray Simons OK = I'll ignore the obvious, boring answer(s) and go with Jacob Newby.
  20. The Miller from the Canterbury Tales, hands down. He won the ram.
  21. I didn't read the posts below, but I imagine there will be some questions about whether he call the birthplace of aviation his home.
