  1. What, you don't know how to drive? March in North Dakota with a Spring blizzard - people will pack the arena. Even bring sleeping bags so they don't have to leave between sessions. When they do leave they can go to the museum and see the Wood Chipper from the movie FARGO. it is even signed by BOTH of the Coen Brothers. NO place else can match that!
  2. Just look at that Hat and that Mat. Squawkeyes don't have anything that even comes close. Dan Gable never wrestled for Iowa and he won't be coaching Gable Steveson - the Double Trouble Munchkins will try it and we know what they did to Spencer Lee. So - Fighting Camels, here he comes to blaze his own trail.
  3. Why not FARGO? Be like homecoming for a lot of the wrestlers as they rekindle their HS summers.
  4. Asked after they were visiting. Good wrestlers in HS and right into the military. Now in top units and being offered schooling at Uncle Sams dime as it is related to their MOS and current/future prospects while on active duty. They wrestle wherever they have been stationed and have done well against some good competition and have always wondered "what did I miss". D1 would be a challenge. The schools with academic programs they are looking at have wrestling programs as well, so they are wondering. At the same time don't want to approach coaches at various schools. Do the distance learning/college credits while serving count towards eligibility? Anyone know? None of it was on campus but now the chance to spend a few years pursuing degrees - all paid for - has them wondering about trying the Collegiate mats for real.
  5. Who was the Russian wrestler that also went unscored on during those Olympic Games?
  6. Can only hope John Smith can get the program going again and get over loooking disgusted by the kids on the mat during competition.
  7. Looking at friends serving in the military. As they are on active duty they can take courses for College Credit. Then the military will pay their way to some Schools to pursue a degree and some advanced degrees. How do the distance learning courses figure into Collegiate eligibility? As in a serving member is taking and completing a distance learning College course while serving active duty in a foreign country or combat zone. Some of them would like to participate in Sports at a University if it is possible, given they are still on active service. Might mean a year or more of school - on campus, interrupted at times by TDY assignments and then back to school for a bit until they get to the Degree sought. How does the NCAA handle this?
  8. Will be back as a Stealth link to the Iowa Board viewable only by The Cinnabutt.
  9. Gambling - unless AJ is assaulting the Cinnabutt.
  10. He will be hiding out in AJ Ferrari's basement so they can work out together while planning a Tag Team Freestyle wrestling bid for the Olympic Games.
  11. Our high today is 62. July 5 early morning a bit West of us hit 34 for the overnight low. North Dakota farmers who planted Canola are doing well as the crop loves cool weather. Now if it would only give us about 3 inches of rain nice & steady over 24 hours all would be well.
  12. Considering the great success Iowa wrestlers are having these days on the International circuit maybe he should go to Cornell?
  13. What about Hunter Biden?! Didn't he supply betting slips tainted with Cocaine from the White House Library? Maybe the MY PILLOW guy will investigate and make a 2 Million $$$ documentary showing it is all a lie and Iowa has really won the last 10 NCAA titles? Rumors are just that and don't change no matter how many times you repeat them.
  14. You certainly don't win any great Omaha steaks or fresh farm food. Bighorn Sheep to Sage Grouse. Open space to roam with great hunting and fishing. No cheezy East Coast types or Californicators needed. Now North Dakota...
  15. Your question does not say "Wrestlers". So..., US Navy SEALS ROK Special Forces troops British SAS commandos
  16. Getting so excited about J'den not telling one all about the injury - while so many give Spencer Lee a complete pass for his no-show/injury/too damned tired to finish an NCAA tournament and go against Suriano for the US Team.
  17. Many other sports allow more than one entrant per event. Wrestling and Boxing both should have two per weight.
  18. Many great wrestlers were not great coaches. Kevin Jackson comes to mind here as a head coach. A lot of promise and talent but never quite got the team firing on all cylinders. Sammy Henson and so many others somehow can't get the team to perform. Cael, Smith, Gable, Jones - they are the exception, not the rule. What other sport finds the coach going live against their athletes in practice? Or, in actual competition - like Midlands? The number of good coaches who spend actual mat time with their wrestlers is a surprise to many not familiar with the sport. For many who pick a school with an accomplished coach the excitement of going live with that coach on the mat is part of the attraction. Guys went with Gable knowing they could roll with him on the mat. Myron Roderick, John Smith and so many others do/did the same. Not many swimming/football/basketball coaches go live with their athletes. A number of wrestling coaches do.
  19. Spencer was very good on the mat. Impressive given his physical challenges with the knees. His downside is being known as a quitter. Can't win a 4th title, take my marbles and go home! He did not wrestle back, he quit. No matter the reason - he quit. Jordan Burroughs is a winner, plain and simple. Don't know if either can actually run a program and coach but would choose Burroughs any day over the Squawkeye.
  20. "Even though Steveson is not a pinfaller" Pinner. He doesn't pin opponents. "pinfall" is the girlyman term for those who don't appreciate wrestling.
  21. The Mormons will sue you for religious discrimination against their 2 year missionary tours. The Military may send a SEAL team to your house because this will have an effect on both active duty and veterans who may space out their college experience. Always hope for you, maybe Binnabutt needs an assistant?
  22. Mats & Hats..., and a good wrestling program. Perfect for Gable Steveson. Almost surprised Cael isn't looking into the Portal to see if Coaches can move that way.
  23. OSU has to work on how they look. Especially during matches with John Smith looking like a grumpy old guy who kicks cats and pees on neighbors bushes. On the upside Carter Young is tops in the All Cutie team - especially when his hair is longer. Teach Coach to smile sometimes and Young to grow his hair and maybe OSU will do a lot better. (I mean a real smile for John, not the serial killer grin)
  24. Every STATE University should have a program. If a system, the premier School should have it, if not more of them. That a State like Texas fails to have Longhorn Wrestling is shameful. Don't know of Bo would have bee quite as good wrestling for them but forcing all those kids to go away is not good. Then we have Florida. Are gators GirlyMen afraid to roll around on the mats?
  25. After looking at mats, logos & such Campbell Fighting Camels is tops. https://shopcamelgear.merchorders.com/ShopDetails.aspx?company=CAM&territory=cam1&category=headwear&subCategory=&productCode=6-38-YB1002&sub=3&multiLogoID=0&baseDirectory=CAM Just LOOK at that hat. Bolermakers, sqwakeyes..., even Banana Slugs don't have soch a good logo. A free hat alone is almost enough to get Steveson to Campbell University. No, I don't work for them and Yes, I did buy a hat, more than one..., actually. In checking they do have a good wrestling program and are a good school. Love the LOGO and the hat gets interesting comments.
