  1. Didn’t this already happen at worlds with Micic and Rivera?
  2. The court doesn’t like tough wrestling. j/k, yeah as mentioned I don’t believe there were still any with charges remaining. There were some that pleaded guilty to lesser chargers earlier though, I bet they’re pissed https://apnews.com/article/sports-wagering-cyclones-hawkeyes-56d9ced5e9b21d2800ce87de57c771c7
  3. And apparently it was for all the Iowa State athletes
  4. Was he ever even suspended by the NCAA? I could be wrong but I thought he wasn’t because the allegations were from before he was a student
  5. Yup, definitely makes sense that he would chicken out. But I gotta agree with Askren…if Palacio was afraid of someone showing up that could actually take him down, he probably shouldn’t have done it
  6. Yup. I will say I have enjoyed the Ben/Dylan Palacio beef though
  7. Here is the video linked in the article, was good but didn’t notice any wrestling talk. I didn’t realize NASA was so active on YouTube.
  8. You might like the series JD & Tyler did when they visited a bunch of colleges and stayed at wrestling clubs to raise money for wrestling clubs in Maui
  9. He’s also undefeated in folkstyle since 2021 if we’re not counting Glazier though. And he also officially beat Intermat #19 Novak of Wyoming at Soldier Salute, so it’s not like Ferrari looked awful prior to the double birds. edit: I agree “beating” Focus wouldn’t help Glazier. I’m saying it’s pretty much irrelevant
  10. How would it hurt Glazier though? Ferrari was a former national champ and didn’t lose to anyone (else) at Soldier Salute
  11. I didn’t think it was too bad considering there’s nothing really coming up until conference tourneys, but I’ll admit Ollie was kinda annoying. I liked him when he was first on like a year or 2 ago before he disappeared for awhile. Since he’s come back he seems to be trying to force the humor which isn’t really working IMO. I do like Tyler though, I think he could be a decent replacement for Ben if they don’t bring in someone completely new. Overall I’m not sure if they need 4 people on at a time anyway, it’s kinda a lot.
  12. I agree it makes sense, but the Focus match doesn’t count anyway
  13. Cardenas has only lost to guys ahead of him, I don’t think he should be ranked ahead of Cardenas. Of the top 10 guys, based on this season’s resume he kinda has an argument over Elam IMO, who lost to the aforementioned Cardenas and doesn’t have a win better than Allred. His ranking is just predicated on finishing 3rd last year. Nitpicking a but, but I see Flo has Glazier at 12 behind Stout of Princeton (Intermat has Glazier 11/Stout 12). Considering Stout has 5 losses including one to Poznanski, and shares Glazier’s best win, I’d think Glazier should at least be higher than him (and looks like the coaches agree)
  14. Depends on the ranking service. If he beats Brooks, I’d bet Flo puts him at 1
  15. Yup, I believe he was the highest returning placer from 2022
  16. Are you assuming PSU’s floor is a lineup that does not include Starocci?
  17. Who do you think are the title contenders?
  18. “what has he done to make you believe he could put together the five consecutive matches that it will take to win the NCAA title?” You could say this about pretty much everyone at 125 except Ramos and McKee, who I believe are the only guys in the field to wrestle an NCAA tournament and lose less than twice, and Provo because of the gauntlet he ran at CKLV. And those guys have a combined 13 NCAA losses this year. That’s why Smith and like 20 other guys have a chance. This year alone, he’s beaten: Ramos, DeAugustino, Spratley, Kaylor and Davis. Among others in the current field he’s also beaten McKee and Poulin. He’s certainly capable of winning it all.
  19. Ok him I meant to add but forgot lol
  20. Yes, I had originally asked what he was on probation for. But edited it after I found a similar article
  21. IMO, in order, and who I think has a non-negligible chance to win. (Edit: I guess I’m still assuming Starocci wins, for the purpose of this exercise are we assuming he’s out? That’s really the only chance another team would have of winning, and of course quite a few of the teams below would still have no chance, but it was fun to see who I thought could have a shot at 2 champs) Cornell: Vito, Shapiro, maybe throw in Foca Nebraska: Lovett, Robb, Smith, Pinto OK State: Fix, Plott, Spratley Lehigh: Crookham, Stanich, maybe throw in Beard Arizona State: Parco, Figueroa, Teemer Iowa State: Carr, Bastida, maybe throw in Echemendia, Chittum, and Swiderski Missouri: O’Toole, Surtin, Mauller if he doesn’t wrestle Shapiro Michigan: DeAugustino, Gomez, Ragusin, Lewan (please God I hope Lewan doesn’t make the finals but he could), maybe throw in Lemley Iowa: Woods, Ayala Minnesota: Blockhus, McKee, Salazar NC State: Camacho, Jack, Arrington, Hidlay, Scott Virginia Tech: Henson, Flynn Oregon State: Munoz, Kaylor Stanford: Cardenas, Provo Lock Haven: Noto, Henson
  22. No one is a dark horse at 125 (particularly the guy who went undefeated in redshirt last year including a win over the current #1), but kinda to @ionel’s point, while Figueroa is probably the lowest ranked guy with the best chance of winning, I wouldn’t say he has the highest potential. Among guys ranked below him on both Intermat & Flo, I’d give all of the below a shot to win: Peterson (22/20) Sotelo (23/26) Molton (20/29) Palmer (25/UR)
