  1. For duals (and NCAA finals) I would think you could do that, tournaments probably not. Shane Sparks wouldn’t be happy but I know Dollamur makes the smaller sections that you should be able to just add around the edge
  2. I don’t think anyone cares about guys like Myles Amine competing for other countries, because they are clearly behind the US rep. But when they first transferred people may have said the same about Micic, Rivera and Gomez, all of which never won an NCAA title (well I guess Gomez still can). Are there any other American brothers competing for different countries? I know it’s rare to have siblings that are both that good to begin with, but I feel like all the other ones I’ve seen (which I guess is just the Amines and Finesilvers) all compete for the same country…
  3. Didn’t Kizhan Clarke beat him? Could we see a Lee/Clarke NCAA finals rematch at last chance?
  4. The argument isn’t that criteria is “satisfying.” It’s that it would make the last 30 seconds-1 minute of matches more exciting because someone would always be losing so guys won’t just hang around and wait for overtime. It’s a scenario pretty specific to wrestling, I can’t really think of a comparison to another sport. Are you “satisfied” when Will Lewan wins due to 1 second of RT in double OT? Again, I’m not saying folkstyle should definitely put in criteria. But it’s not a terrible idea. It would also save time particularly in tournaments. Speaking of which, saving time is another reason to get rid of anklebands. 10 seconds a match can add up over a 3 day tournament.
  5. Yeah this would be my biggest question. I like the “keep wrestling as long as there’s a pinky toe in bounds” rule. We just need mats with bigger areas outside of the circle. Overall, while the subjectivity isn’t great, I prefer how folkstyle stalling is called compared to freestyle passivity. Half the time to me it seems like they just alternate who they put on the shot clock. @Hammerlock3 are you suggesting they get rid of “regular stalling” too? I know Cael kinda suggested that. It’s intriguing, but I’m not sure if it’d be any better.
  6. The pro leagues may not have criteria, but they have been experimenting with changes to deciding ties. As I alluded to in the OP, I could kinda take it or leave it. The biggest concern for me is confusion for fans (particularly the ones attending live). But I think it probably would make the end of matches more exciting.
  7. So will the Big 10 and SEC schools be part of the NCAA for the sports other than football and basketball?
  8. Doesn’t have to be red/green, can be white for home or something
  9. I still prefer folkstyle, but I’ll admit there are some things freestyle does better. I know the most common requests to bring from free to folk are probably, in no particular order: 1) criteria 2) push out point, and 3) shot clock. I’m not necessarily opposed to those, particularly 1 & 2, but those would be significant changes. But what about some things that would be relatively easy to implement? Such as 1) Losing a point for a lost challenge. Would really help lung bricks 2) Home and away singlets - we need to get rid of ankle bands 3) No headgear required. Cauliflower ear is gross, but I don’t think wearing headgear during matches really prevents it, and often gets in the way or caused delays. Headgear should be required for practice, but not matches
  10. So do we know if Anthony not enrolling in the spring was his decision or Iowa’s?
  11. I hadn’t really thought of the impact to women’s wrestling. It seems the biggest thing it had going for it was helping with Title IX compliance. I know it’s been speculated that some schools not in the Big Ten/SEC could drop football which will make Title IX compliance much easier…
  12. Ya called it. Also bumping this thread for some good discussion about who could have challenged for the spots
  13. I don’t see any actual chatter that he’s gone from the WWE? Usually media outlets pick up on stuff like that if his social media has actually been scrubbed. In fact most of the recent conversation seems to be bringing him up because some female wrestler also got booed. And here’s an “article” from just a few days ago recapping Steveson’s match, they mention they think he’s a “lost cause,” but nothing about him maybe already being gone. https://www.wrestlecrap.com/inductions/gable-steveson-debut/
  14. Yianni did challenge him and lost/got injured
  15. Interesting, thanks. And he can’t use a redshirt during it, correct?
  16. I mean I don’t hate the idea, but I’m not sure it would be an “identical analogy” unless you had 3 chances to qualify for NCAA’s, 2 of them occurred 5 and 10 months before NCAA’s and one was in fact after the wrestle off?
  17. Yes, exactly. You act like refs call every penalty exactly by the book. There probably could have been 5 team points deducted during the recent Iowa/OSU dual with the number of times Brands and Smith came on the mat. But none were.
  18. It occurred after the race was over, including the lane he went into, so kinda, yeah. This seems comparable to the high school “taking down your singlet straps” rule (although at least it’s just a team point and not a DQ). It can be called a lot more than it is even though it’s technically “no judgement allowed”
  19. Meh, didn’t most of the top guys have the opportunity to challenge for this (and of course Yianni did)? One notable exception I believe being Spencer
  20. I honestly don’t know how the scoring works. Would that outscore a gold from Micic and bronze from Amine? Regardless, I guess if Dake wins that might give it to NLWC. Would a silver from Dake outscore two bronzes from Parris and Gomez? Although I know Kerk could also be the US rep
  21. Looking like CKWC might outscore NLWC at Olympics?
