  1. I saw Minnow just say on Fb Vito has a herniated disc? Anyone else see this anywhere else?
  2. Mauller: 3x AA Lewan: 2x AA Robb: 2x AA Andonian: 2x AA Scott: AA Blockhus: AA That’s a lot of AA finishes on a top side of a bracket not counting the 1 seed
  3. My hot take of the tournament is Haines doesn’t make the finals. Round 2: Mauller or Travis Quarters: Lewan/Saldate/Robb Semis: Scott/Downey/Andonian/Blockhus I know 157 is stacked but that’s a tough path, I could see him losing one of those.
  4. I believe their coach prior to this season left pretty abruptly as well, so now seeing them cut the program in this case it may not have actually been Chertow’s fault. I doubt Queens would have really been a “feeder program” for anyone though, but yes it would have provided more D1 opportunities
  5. If we’re simply talking about Starocci or Suriano’s seedings at B10’s, he didn’t game the system though. The system is set to seed wrestlers based on their performance that season, not whether or not they are injured going into that tournament. His entire suggestion is to make another gray area, recommending that coaches should say to seed their wrestler last when they really shouldn’t be. There are 2 possible solutions IMO: 1. Get rid of wildcards 2. Allow guys to get wildcards without entering the conference tournament I think I’d lean towards option 1
  6. That reminds me, does anyone know what happened to Ryan Anderson? I believe he initially committed to Iowa State maybe, but he ended up initially going to D3 Centenary supposedly for academic reasons. He then started for a year at Binghampton, but I feel like disappeared after that and I wonder if it was academic related.
  7. I made a tangentially related thread to this after he did the Barstool interview and commented about what people were saying in that too. But I don’t think it’s about “feeling bad for being extremely dominant,” it’s that it seems like the pressure got to him, and he cared too much about what other people thought. He’s got to be the most accomplished wrestler I’ve heard talk so much about what other people said about him. I was surprised in this doc he even commented about how his dad told him what people were saying about him on forums when he was like 8 years old!
  8. Yeah I’ve think I said similarly in different threads. My guess would be if you take the 20 D2/D3 champs and put them in the D1 tournament, you’d get something like: 1 AA (7th/8th) or R12 1 R16 4 2-2 6 1-2 8 0-2
  9. So basically Manning’s solution is more honor? I take it he’s never thrown a lung brick?
  10. Man this article makes Manning sound like even more of a baby than he already did. In the tweets, it seemed his main complaint was about B10’s, where PSU probably did know Suriano wasn’t wrestling, and I’m sure Starocci as well. But after getting called out by multiple people with first hand knowledge of the situation that it wasn’t always known that Suriano wasn’t going to wrestle at NCAA’s, Manning doubles down. “What was he practicing, checkers?” is super cringe…
  11. Tell me you’ve never watched a Nebraska dual without telling me you’ve never watched a Nebraska dual
  12. I think people would give Fix the Spencer Lee treatment. I don’t think they would for Vito since he appears to be more injured
  13. Yeah looks like Christian Lance is the answer to the OP’s question of the last time. Interestingly according to the Ft Hays website he redshirted then wrestled in one D2 NCAA tournament but DNP. His path to AA in 2022 wasn’t easy either. He had wins over Tyrie Houghton, Lewis Fernandes and Wyatt Hendrickson while losing to Tony Cassioppi, Greg Kerkvliet and Lucas Davison.
  14. Good info. I don’t think any of this except for Brent Rider really disagrees with what I said though
  15. I would think there are maximums but I have no idea
  16. I posted this when it was announced but if you’ve taken a gander at Leeth’s x/twitter account, I feel pretty confident in saying he’ll like Stephenville much better.
  17. I’d argue that “D1 reserves smoking good D2/D3 wrestlers” is mostly referring to reserves from the top 15 or so teams. “Good D2/D3 wrestlers” can often beat or at least compete with the bottom third of D1 teams’ starters (who would also get beat by the reserves from the top 15 or so teams).
  18. This is a good question. Also interesting because there could be team trophy implications
  19. Apparently they started at like -300 according to the x/twitters, but quickly went to -700, I guess now -1200
  20. It may be harder to AA now, but the transfer portal has helped PSU put together this super team, considering 40% of their lineup is transfers
  21. This clearly wasn’t the case since this thread was started before last season was over.
  22. Yeah that’s my point. 7 AA’s is basically worst case scenario for them, which is pretty crazy.
