    Yes he is. I believe @Wrestleknownothing has shown the chart with average finish or something in the last 10-15 years and Iowa was well ahead of the third place team, which I think was Cornell IIRC.

    I get what you’re saying, but he makes good money “selling juice and coaching club.” Iowa would need to make it worth his while, it’s not like he’s just going to be willing to uproot his entire life just because he wants a challenge. I don’t see them offering what it would take to get him, or even moreso, firing the second most successful active coach to bring in a guy with no college coaching experience.

    He was talking about graduate programs. I’m sure a lot of these guys had no intention initially of going to graduate school at the same place they did undergrad if at all. But the free Covid year gave them the opportunity for an additional year of eligibility and to potentially get paid to wrestle while using it. People like to complain about the free Covid year, but encouraging guys to use it while getting a graduate degree is certainly one good thing about it.

    I don’t think they are, just assuming he uses his redshirt if Bartlett comes back which seemed to be the plan this year before SVN got hurt, or goes 141 if Bartlett doesn’t come back which was also the plan this year before SVN got hurt.

    I thought that at first until I heard him talk about how Cael etc would have done it if they had the chance and he really didn’t seem to care about that. I don’t think he’s back, unless maybe he hits the portal

    Why would 2026 be any better than next year without their 6th year seniors? They scored 69.5 with just Haines (26), Mesenbrink (19.5), Kasak (19), Nagao (3), and Davis (2), all of whom should still be on the team in 2026, plus Van Ness coming back and all of their top recruits. I’m not a PSU fan, just a realist

    As mentioned he took an ORS in 2020, he also took a year off school in 2021 when the Ivies did not compete

    I was wrong on my hot take of Haines not making the finals. I also thought Starocci was mostly healthy but apparently not. Honestly him raising the hand of the trainer might’ve been one of the cooler moments of the tournament

    Crazy to me that PSU scored as much as they did, despite Bartlett and Mesenbrink losing in the finals, Davis and Nagao not even placing, and Truax getting his lowest finish of his career.

    I’m sure Cornell guys do get NIL. They can also seemingly get scholarships for people that aren’t rich. They just can’t get transfers. I’m not a fan of Cornell, but impressive performance. They also did it after having to withdraw Cornella

    Absolutely agree that we need bigger mats and that the rule gets manipulated by wrestlers, which is why guys get hit for stalling for doing it. But it is the rule and it clearly wasn’t intentional in this case, so when it gets challenged you have to call it.

    Lewis kicked Coleman Scott I believe sitting in the chair on the next mat over. Technically it is the right call to call that OOB. I could have seen at least giving Pasiuk the TD though.

    That’s what I thought but I wasn’t sure. IIRC Campbell got their first AA with an assist from a forfeit against Suriano. Now that could be where Manning could have a legitimate gripe if he chose to…

    I don’t remember, did they pull Suriano out of NCAA’s with enough time for an alternate to enter?
