  1. Was it ever disclosed if Ventresca had some sort of injury this year? I know that was speculated but never confirmed that I saw.
  2. Done wrestling. Basch seemed to imply it on one of his pods, and you know Bartlett is one of “his guys.” It seemed highly likely if he won, but still a decent possibility even if he didn’t.
  3. Yeah, my guess is Bartlett doesn’t come back
  4. Well the one thing that really might be would be the Big Ten and SEC leaving the NCAA…
  5. This is why I don’t think the portal is “the end of college wrestling.” There have also been a fair amount of guys transfer out of some of the top schools as well.
  6. Good stuff. Although 2023 125 was really just because the 27 & 28 seeds wrestled for 7th place. The rest of the AA’s were 2, 4, 10 (previous finalist), 8, 3, 1. When did they start seeding all 33 again?
  7. Surprised no Dake mentions yet. I don’t think it’s realistic (or smart) but it’s much more realistic than suggestions that teams like Iowa or Wisconsin should hire him.
  8. Can’t he just want the scoring to more accurately reflect the difficulty, and it not be about how it may have effected his team?
  9. Either increase wins to 2 on frontside and 1 on backside, or decrease bonus points on the backside.
  10. Well like everything with NCAA tournament scoring, it’s heavily weighted by high placers. After PSU, Iowa and Michigan, most of those points were from 1 guy (including OSU). Munoz OrSU 17 Buchanan OU 17 Echemendia ISU 13.5 Noto LH 13.5 Olejnik OkSU 10 Of course OSU would have had more from transfers if Spratley did better which many predicted him to do although we know 125 was crazy.
  11. Delaying kindergarten by a year by doing another year of preschool, and delaying your HS freshman year by a year to do nothing but train and play video games, are apples and oranges. Delaying kindergarten is very common and there is nothing illegal about it, although it is an example of privilege. i know repeating 8th grade for athletes is somewhat common, but I was not aware it was common for kids to do nothing but train and play video games during that year. In my area the kids that repeated 8th grade usually went to private school though (another example of privilege I guess), because I imagine the public schools weren’t on board with holding back a kid that was ready for HS.
  12. He did give up his redshirt for the team, but he still has another year if he wants it. In theory he could redshirt next year instead, so could Lemley.
  13. Fish in the portal too apparently
  14. Is it really that common for holdbacks to not do any schooling though?
  15. It’s not just wrestling fans that poke fun at the Cornell Ag school. Which yes is still far better than the school I went to. I’m also on record as stating the Covid year + transfer portal + NIL is great for athletes that are able to use it to get graduate degrees. I know some of the Michigan guys already had graduate degrees which is awesome, but I’m skeptical that they’ll actually finish their masters in social work, but hopefully they do! At first glance the Real Estate Development certificate does seem like something that can be earned in a year though.
  16. I never said that isn’t the case, but isn’t it true that the Ag School is by far the easiest to get into? This Michigan thing might be worse anyway. Are there any prerequisites to get accepted for a masters of social work? Apparently you can get in with an undergrad degree in journalism.
  17. Right next to Northern Illinois University of the Ivy League
  18. Better than selling magic rocks or whatever
  19. Well the guys I listed do have 7 AA finishes between them. Of course that only one of them AA’ed this year is further proof of the depth of the weight
  20. Not quite all, although looks like Barnett is the only AA with no more eligibility. Plus some other guys like McKee, Kaylor, DeAugustino and Palmer.
