Anyone have a source on the brackets? I know Greco is winding down and we are about to get FS draws. I've been hunting Greco brackets so I'd know where to go for FS but I'm at a loss. Sorry guys. All updates and sources appreciated.

I think if he can figure out how to not be dead when he cuts he has a chance of competing with those guys. On the other hand.... I don't think he can ever grow into a real 74kg guy, he's just too small for the weight
-
He's chasing a dream, and he's giving himself the best possible shot at making the team. It's this or represent another country and have Pyles hunt him down for reprimand

FRL 1005 “Pan-Am Drama”
Spladle08 replied to FanOfPurdueWrestling's topic in International Wrestling
Eh, it just feels like what we all already said here on the forums. I dont think Pyles has many relevant points. Ben was right, its nice to see our wrestlers get a chance where-ever they can. And they all were right. These were 2 guys we didn't think could actually beat us and dont have a real shot at a medal in the olympics. Just felt like they formed their opinions from these message boards lol but yeah Go Ben, the voice of reason -

While they both genuinely have close to no chance, I'd say RBY has more of a chance of getting a "good" draw, and getting drawn back in only needing to pull 1 big-time upset. Wait we aren't even talking about RBY lol Cruz, we are talking about Cruz, yeah sorry he has 0% chance of medaling, lets go back to Gomez (Sorry I don't know how I got off-track) Rivera last year got that once in a lifetime draw at 65kg and pulled that 1 big-time upset in wild match with Tevanyan where he needed a miracle. Heck he got a good draw the previous year and made it to the semis needing one big win over Yainni, could've been a 2x finalist, got another chance at an upset for bronze because of that sweet draw but that was at worlds and I just don't believe it can happen for Austin Gomez The Olympics is just such a different beast it's so condensed. Amouzad Whoever Japan is sending Muz Rashidov (I guess, but I like Mamedov) Aliyev Ochir Tobier Tevanyan Dudaev India will have a decent rep. I can't see him avoiding one of these people early (all of which I favor over him significantly). I cant see him pulling a rabbit and beating one in the semis. And if he loses in the semi's I can't see him beating whatever terrible savage that person beat to face him in the semis. I mean he's a longshot +2000 or worse to win 2 matches. Is this Nick Lee win his only significant win on the world stage? I know he beat an Indian guy with no credentials before he lost to Nick Lee last year. Yeah I guess 5% chance at a medal if the circumstances were IDEAL -

LITERALLY ANYONE. ANYONE WHO TRANSFERS.... there's been a ton of people. Nobody cares as long as it doesn't directly hinder our advancement. We underperformed at 2 weights and the f*cking sky is falling because of Austin Gomez and Darian Cruz. Narrative: These guys stole our American training methods and sabotaged the United States by transferring to other countries and competing against us, when they should be our reps, earning Olympic Gold for the USA. (I just listened to Pyles stupid 12 minute Rant) Reality: A few American wrestlers who had little to no shot of making the American team, figured they'd roll the dice at the Pan-Am qualifier and hope they got a favorable draw and a chance to live their dream of competing in the Olympics games. (Nobody's b*tching about Shannon Hanna). Unfortunately for 2 of the wrestlers they ran into their Team USA counterparts, who have beaten them convincingly in the past. These wrestlers with 0% chance of medalling at the Olympic games, beat the guys we chose to send. WOW what an accomplishment (I applaud them personally but its not universal)........ had they lost. Had the 2 guys that defeated our reps lost or qualified on the other side of the bracket. There wouldn't be a peep from anyone. This whole Hindsight-patriot thing is the weakest form of weakness -
Pan-Am Olympic Qualifier 2/28 - 3/1

No reason to, finalists qualify, thats the prize -
Definitely too late for that to happen, I think Brooks adds to the reasons we didn't get to see him this year, and yeah hopefully next year. His performance against Glazier showed he hasn't fallen off. But wrestling is a difficult sport to come in and out of, its kind of a constant building process, and its hard to find substitutes for elite level competition. I hope we see him commit to it, but if it's not next fall its not at all in my opinion.

Oh yeah the free year right?> So 4th year 5th year. (I havent been as tuned into college as I have in the past) Well then, would be fun if Ferrari came back next year and we got the splits rematch. But 2x AA I agree, he can do this. off the top of my head I like Brooks, Hidlay, Buchanan, Sloan, probably Cardenas quite a bit more than him . Elam, Deprez, Smith Beard... a little more than him man feel like I'm forgetting somebody . Honestly, he's probably on that second level. if he gets 5-8th, no surprise at all. But i think he needs a little luck to do better.
-
Warner doesn't have comfortable matches, everything is by the skin of your teeth But yes he should AA. I really hope it for the kid. But Strange things happen when they pressure is on. Final Season. blah blah blah
-
Coming out of HS had he been thrown into that 197 spot, I think he'd be a consistent AA. Obviously AJ was more developed and just better at the weight, but I think the move to heavy hurt is overall development. Then injuries and yadda yadda. I think he has the talent to AA but just going to depend on how he shows up. Genuinely disappointing for me. Loved the talent.
-
He's exactly the same level as Warner. No debate

IM PLAYING!!!! 125 - Noah Surtin: he can beat anyone ahead of him and lose to a few behind him. He's my round of 12 Betsy 133 - Latona was a great pick OP, but I'm feeling Teske 141 - Hate to say it, cause I'm a fan, but Cole Mathews, burnout, injury, whatever, he has 9 or 10 losses this year. You got a win over this guy, you got a shot at the top 8. 149 - For me is D'Emilio, think he is a thoroughbred round of 12 non-AA 157 - This one is easy, Mr. Consistently not a top guy but you better be game Teague Travis 165 - Caleb Fish is the only answer here 174 - I like Mocco for this one, he's not great but wrestles good guys tough, anyone who beats him can make that top 8 184 - I like the OP said Feldkamp who may be the most one dimensional wrestler in all the NCAAs. If you can't figure him out you can't place.... but let me go with a freshman gatekeeper (I think Freshman)... Dylan Fishback from NCST, I think he's solid enough to be right there with most people ahead of him and a tough out for anyone behind him 197 - Stemmet is the first person I think of, I wish Surber wasn't in this category but I think he's a great measuring stick for AA or not. 285 - Lewis Fernandes all day don't trust him to beat anyone good, but he ain't losing to anyone bad. Mr. Round of 12.

Oh hey college guys, haven't been around here in awhile. I agree H82Lose, and it's been my stance the entire time. AJ is ridiculous and without the arrest, may go down as an absolute legend for the right reasons no matter how cringy they were. The girl, the wreck, blah blah blah, it got out of control and he can't seem to reign it back in... he should probably just be done with wrestling and go be the villain int he octagon. Anthony has had the most problems everywhere he goes. He's clearly unstable and he's not talented enough for anyone to really want to deal with the whole persona and the results. Angelo feels like he has a much better grasp on "playing" the part, while doing all the right stuff. I think he will finish his 4 years. I think AJ could influence him to do things like switch schools so they could compete together or something, but I don't think he's as big a liability as the other 2. I think he's a wrestler all the way.

What if Zahid had joined Team Mexico?
Spladle08 replied to peanut's topic in International Wrestling
Unlike some of you guys, with the amount of talent we have at some of these weights, I would much rather see our 3rd-4th-5th guys, try to make it to the big dance by transferring countries, instead of taking their talents to the Octagon right away. I love seeing Americans do their thing elsewhere when they genuinely had no shot here. -

Zahid would have a similar career as Amine on the World Stage (without the glory of Euros) Always a medal threat, never a title threat. I almost wish he had gone that route, sucks to see all that talent go to waste. -
Also I wish some of us could ban-together and put out articles someday, I think they'd be good for the community
-
In the most respectful way. No changes need to be made, any of the top 5 guys believe they are going to make the team at both weights 57kg and 65kg. And believe they have a shot at an Olympic medal. So questioning their motivation is ridiculous. They would also be favored in any match, against anyone from Pan-Am countries. Our Continental qualifier is truly a cakewalk of non-medal contenders at the Olympic games. It's easy to hindsight that "Anyone of our top guys except Retherford would've beaten Destribats"... if he and Retherford wrestled again right now would you bet me 1000 even money you get Destribats I get Retherford. Same for Gomez/Lee... I would say same for Richards vs Cruz, but RIchards always makes me uneasy, I couldn't do that one. We get unlucky sometimes, no matter how you slice it, we just didn't perform it's unpredictable even though it seems predictable AF.

This "announcement" I've seen circulating around social media that USA, Puerto RIco, and Russia are all tied for the lead having 4 qualified in MFS is bothering me. While factually accurate, it's ridiculous and has absolutely no meaning. I know most of our loving fanbase doesn't know much. But when I see "Hey we're the only major wrestling country to have been through our qualifying tournament and we are tied with Puerto RIco yippee" I'm sad. and the comments are like "Russia better watch out, we're killin it, I didnt know Puerto Rico was soo good".... I want to say "Um uhhh , a lot to unpack here but don't feel like we have the time " sigh, I hate marketing.

Pan-Am Olympic Qualifier 2/28 - 3/1
Spladle08 replied to Wrestleknownothing's topic in International Wrestling
Yeah, I don't think Kurugliev has any seeding criteria so he could be a tough first round opponent for anyone. Throw in whoever Russia sends. This weight could be a little more interesting than in years past. But yes Yaz and DT are the best -

Yeah theres several big names but most will be taken off the board by last chance. There is definitely going to be a landmine or 2 but ... We should make it, but also could have a bad opening match and hasta. I'm wondering more about 57kg, we have some horses here as well so love our chances but just wonder what the field will look like
