not a huge fan of the get unless they get Alirez as well just don't think they have enough fire power to go top 2 but it is awesome for Merrill training wise.
-
on flow they had mentioned that the portal window opened when John retired rather than the new hiring, I'm not sure if that is definitive but thats what they seemed to think.
-
Kinda hope they do not dump the money into him for 1 year, I assume he will not be an RTC guy. A year for Merrill to train with him I suppose may be worth it but I'm guessing he will be getting six figures which seems like a ton for legitimately one year and probably somewhere between a 2-5 placing.
-
I think keeping Zo on would be smart Ladarion mentioned how much he has helped him too, I believe Jax's dad and Jody were in his corner for the trials but I could be off I know his dad was.
-
Thinking about everyone in the NCAA I feel like Hamiti has the most untapped potential. I cannot even think of a guy that could hope to push him in that room nor did he have coaches that could get the most out of his style. He has always showed moments of brilliance (the first 5 minutes against MM) I think the sky could truly be the limit for him in this new training environment.
-
To my knowledge they train mostly at young guns, Jody corner Jax at pretty much everything. That being said I think his relationship with Daton is a big reason David made sure to keep daton on at Oklahoma state.
-
he got a temporary waiver to compete I don't know that I would consider that being cleared.

I'd like to preface this by saying RBY won the match 14-4 but he got takedown and turned by Kael Larudisen who was doing at grey shirt at the OTC this year. I believe Kael went 2-2 at u20's and is 18 or 19 so if he can turn RBY I feel like he cannot give spencer a single opportunity on top. Now this could be an overanalyzes by me and RBY could have just taken him lightly but just something of note.

I was under the impression that grad transfers can transfer at any time, I thought that is what gomez did this year and I believe it has happened in college football as well.
-
I feel like essentially claiming he got this prescription because he was struggling to study overseas on a podcast was probably not the best decision either.
-
RBY has not looked good to me in freestyle, I think the cut is very much a thing for him. He does have a style that would on paper be bad for Spencer given his athleticism but I'm not sure if the power is there. I ultimately assume there is a reason RBY opted to represent Mexico rather than trying to make the US team and I'm guessing it was Thomas Gillman goes in the room related.

I remember I think 2 years ago at worlds little yazdani forfeited to finesilver has that ever happened at the olympics? I cannot imagine spending you entire life training for something that happens every 4 years and having to ff to a guy that you would likely tech. also look forward to the bet he will probably lose r1 now :[

I 100% agree with you that his traditional top game is not good I truly don't know the last time I saw him hit a lace or a gut.

I shall sig bet with you and yes my fav to win the weight lost to our #4 86kg rep at 92 but also has a win over our rep and 8x medalist at 97 and is a 2x u23 world champ at 97kg. He also beat Zahid earlier that year the only other time he wrestled 92kg but then missed weight I Believe on day 2 im not sure if that was scratch or 2kg. I think a big reason he lost to zahid was the cut hes been a 97kg guy since 2021 when he won his first u23's at 18 or 19. I should have not phrased it as hes my favorite he is certainly not the favorite to win the weight he is however my pick and if they do betting lines again I will be betting him heavily.
-
He was sucked out for 92kg he beats Snyder 6-3 in the same tournament Snyder beat Ghasempour 4-0 I think it's safe to assume he's beating Ghasempour since he's their rep right now and I would have ghasempour at least as a medal threat. Being 22 i'm also assuming he's still getting better fairly rapidly.
-
at worlds last year I think he got quite a few turns he would bar guys and then bring them up and kinda suple/tilt them.
-
The head of the Russian wrestling fed seems pretty confident he will be there.
-
Snyders draw will be enormous as Maligned mentioned Azarpira will be drawn in and he may personally be my favorite to win the tournament he is very very good and seems to be getting better and better. If rankings points hold he will have Sadulaev in the quarter if he avoids Azarpira getting drawn in then if he gets past Sadulaev he will have the Azerbaijani most likely that hes beaten a few times. If he were to fall to Azarpira early I think Azarpira beats Sadulaev in his current form but then Snyder would have to beat Sadulaev on the back half. Ultimately as mentioned Snyder always medals and I have faith he can again, I also believe he could potentially win the entire thing but Azarpira is a serious landmine. For reference Snyder beat him 3-0 last year while Azarpira was a bit of an in between 92kg and 97 probably more of a true 97. Then this year when they wrestled Azarpira beat him 6-3 which is a pretty stark change especially given how stingy Snyder is,

In the instance of Yianni,Vito,Daton,Alirez all of them were top 2-3 at the weight at the time of their red shirt. You could argue Alirez but having teched Aliyev over the summer I think he knew at that point he had a real shot at making the team. I believe in all of these guys cases as well they never red-shirted (aside from daton) with ivy's not allowing it outside of an olympic and I believe Alirez started right away. So in that sense they were just leveling the playing field. -
this is purely a freestyle turn but one I don't see get a ton of use however the Iowa guys seem to really like it is that move where the head is buried between the legs and then they pull them up to a quad pod esque position and roll I've seen both Austin and spencer use it to success.

With the talks of who David will bring into the RTC, and the mention of Hidlay, PSU guys, Gable, Alirez etc... would it make more sense to punt the next year or two for worlds and go all in on one of Gable or Alirez and then Bassett and Forrest with already having Lockett. you can never Guarantee an Olympic or world team member, but I think that puts you in a position where you have three guys that will have a good shot at the 2028 and 2032 teams, and not to mention guys that could win multiple NCAA titles. You also have Cody Merrill who I know has not competed as much as a lot of the super hyped talent, but he beat Cole Mirasola 10-0 at Fargo last summer and it was not just a takedown to a lace.
-
the high thigh figure 4 to a cross face I think would throw a lot of guys it also lets you chew up clock as long as you have them exposed, Zain used that in his third-place match. As hammer mentioned it's hard to get to that position with how little time, they get to work which would be the draw back.

I believe WFS was 6 for 6 prior I don't think we qualified anyone at LCQ Bey fell one match short so I think we have 3 guys, but someone should fact check me.
