  1. Not sure if this is a thread already but seemed like a good one to have. To start a conversation, I was thinking about the class of 2026 and was wondering if as a coach you guys would rather get both Rayney brothers (I assume they are a package deal) or one of Bassett/Forrest.
  2. Very true I always felt like Dake could get one if he needed it though, like after DT doubled him in the finals he immediately went and got that back. Carter early on definitely relied more on winning one position matches. Its hard to say yet with Angelo having not seen him in college but I feel like Arnold keeps every match relatively close whereas Carter at least separated from guys that were never going to sniff the blood round. I just think it's hard to go 20-0 at Ncaa's if you aren't cruising in some matches. He's going to be a RS freshman next year though so he could certainly make jumps in his offense however that does not seem to be the Iowa way.
  3. Gabe and Angelo are both guys that rely super heavily on their defense. Thats not necessarily a bad thing but unless they expand their offense I think to be able to win 4 national titles you need more than a few go to attacks and super stingy defense.
  4. I was not familiar with his game I saw his record when I was doing some NCAA drafts I feel like he could jump levels in that room.
  5. I don't even know if Teemer helps them that much. Id rather have Caliendo if the rumors are true he can make that weight or PK. even with both of them they still have nobody for 141 unless Ryder block can get down Im optimistic Kale Peterson will be good but hes probably not a big point scorer right away.
  6. I had heard something about ASU when the season was still going on seems like a good fit.
  7. 2-1 at Fargo last year 10-0 and 5-3 at u17 trials
  8. Morgan Turner could be on her way as well. she's beaten Jaclyn bouzakis 3 times and is 3-0 against her and Bouzakis beat two NCAA's 1 ranked woman by tech this season. She has a cadet cold and is probably on her way to another one this year. Took third in Illinois big class boys states last year at 106 and I think she weighed like 95lbs.
  9. hoping he goes to Missouri they need a 157/165 whichever weight steed does not go and if they get him and Hendrickson they will have a very very good team.
  10. he hit the same move to beat Connor Mirasola at who's 1 I believe definitely his bread and butter.
  11. Levis style does not seem ideal for freestyle yet I'd probably still take lockett at 74, Meyer and duke would be awesome because Meyer pulls up into upper body ties a ton if his shots get stuffed which will definitely lead to some upper body exchanges.
  12. list of guys I can see doing it from most to least confident Marcus Blaze (watching Lilledahl torch the field this week but not being able to really touch blazes legs kinda speaks volumes on just how good this kid is) Bo Bassett: my only real concern with Bo is burnout or injury I love his work ethic but waking up before 5 am during your developmental years constantly to train and it seems hes been doing it for years feels like it could come back to bite you but I may be reading too much into that I just think in a 7 minute match its gonna be hard for guys to stop him + he has 2 years of high school left) Ben Davino: I think hes lost once in 2-3 years in high school has not wrestled senior level like some of his peers but he has the last wins over blaze, forrest, knox I also think hes a career 133 which bodes well for him imo and I expect him to red shirt. Jax Forrest: This weekend was a bump in the road for Jax but im wondering if making 125.4 two weekends in a row and going through tough competition Is too much for him. Hes wrestled between 121 and 126 for like 2 years now and he has a huge frame would like to see him take time to grow like Bo did. The talent is not a question and his feel I think is just something you're born with the two more years of high school is also in his favor here. PJ duke: I wanted to see him against higher level comp and he blew me away.Probably not a real concern its just one match but he did seem tired against Webster in the second, Webster was just trying to make something happen and walked into an inside trip so I guess I have a small concern about his tank for 7 minutes but he has another year of high school so im not all too concerned Luke Lilledahl: Only thing that hurts my confidence in Luke is I think hes going right away and I believe hes a bit better at free than folk. That being said I absolutely think he could win it next year PSU if they have anything going against them is their 125 track record. Aedon Sinclair: If he goes right away for Missouri I don't think he gets it done, hes incredible but he did struggle with the physicality of the more mature guys at the LCQ so I think he needs some time to mature. Connor Mirasola: For a heavier guy this kids ability to score in different ways on his feet are absolutely unreal. Ladarion Lockett: Would like to see his handfight evolve a bit he may have issues with guys that are super positionally sound if he can't open them up. Melvin Miller: He's only a freshman in high school but this kids ability to find angles on his feet are beautiful to watch if you have not watched him wrestled Id watch his run through cadets its unreal. Hes also probably going to end up somewhere between 174-197 which given his skillset I think is a huge plus. I just think one of the other guys will do it first. Dreshaun ross: just a specimen of a human being kids like 7 feet tall and moves like a lighter guy, Unfortunately I think we may lose him to football.
  13. the biggest thing I took from this interview is that hes gonna be a 141+ in college Im not sure if you saw any of his interviews at trials but my god were his eyes sucked in compared to this.
  14. PJs Judo background is super evident in his wrestling not someone you want to get in any upper body exchanges with. I expect he gets Webster again at trials and I think it'll be a little closer the score was a wider margin than the skill gap on the mat felt like at least to me.
  15. mulvaney was an awa kid In high school not sure about Mike macc
  16. If we are glazing Dake I'd like to say I still think the most impressive thing he's done is going up to 86 and nearly winning the spot from cox. while probably being a 74-79kg hybrid naturally. I think it's easy to lump new guys in with the legends but honestly the only guy wrestling right now I think has a shot to being on a DT,Dake, snyder,Burroughs level is AB. Although I could see this being the last time Jesse mendez is not on a team for near a decade potentially and then you have the high schoolers coming up.
  17. I think there is decent enough money in RTC's and sponsorships now + a lot of these guys will coach in some capacity so I'm sure a lot of them will be on the scene a bit longer. I believe Pletcher and Henderson may already be done as they stepped into bigger coaching roles for their porgrams.
  18. That would explain why zahid kicked the brick back if they had previously been warned.
  19. I think they could break the record obviously, but I think it's very unlikely. Lilledahl I believe will AA so that will be a + but I have a hard time asking a TF to do much more than AA. I think this is going to be Nagao and Davis will RS. Nagao just did not seem that competitive with the guys that ended up on the podium. Orine killed him and unless he improves his leg defense I'm stilling probably putting him r12. Bartlett had two pins right at the end of the match which boosted his total as well as I think the pecking order is Alirez/Mendez 1A, 1B and beau behind them. SVN is tricky I honestly think Kasak is more of a sure thing just because SVN has had all the injuries but ill agree on third or better This is where I don't know if I agree I don't think Mitchell will go 157 and I definitely don't think Levi will. I think we could see levi at 174 or him red shirt this year and facudno at 174 so im going to have 157 as a loss just because I do not think either guy goes that weight. MM + for sure I thought facundo looked awesome at the trials but compared to carters points itll be a neg. I do not have nearly enough confidence in Barr to say hes going to outscore Bernie so I disagree with that. Carters bonus rate I believe will be lower at the tournament Aaron bonused to the finals with two pins. Kerk looked honestly bad at trials to his standards so ill go the same for now.
  20. Was watching Joel Adams throw some people on their heads early today so I went to check Michigans roster to see where he was projected to go and did not see him on their wrestlestat. Is he not going to college and just doing greco full time? I know hes most known for his greco accolades but this is a guy that has a few wins over Tyler kasak their final year of HS.
  21. on FRL a few weeks ago they said Mizzou not sure how much substance there is to that.
  22. I think the cut is pretty insane for him so he may be taking some time off and just doing the u20 trials. Duke is more than likely going to finish top2 I am just quite high on gilcher I thought he looked good at the LCQ despite being quite undersized and Cannon is funky and wrestles at a crazy pace and I think has been making big jumps so hes probably a bit of an out of pocket pick but I'm going with it.

  24. https://rokfin.com/article/17161/Cadet-Trials-Contenders-and-Picks https://rokfin.com/article/17185/JR-Open-Preview--Picks will post my picks in a bit, this is my favorite tournament of the year especially as of recently its pretty much the most sought after title for high schoolers now and it gives you a good look at the future. @Husker_Du will you and basch or fellers be doing a show for this?
