  1. Chittum was one NLI bag away from not starting next year. I know the Iowa haters want to think the worst of the Brands but there is more to this than the prospect of the Ferraris joining the team.
  2. Dude, I posted the following Ferrari meme. I know they aren't boy scouts. That being said, for Chittum to leave when it is entirely possible/probable that they aren't even coming suggests his tenure in Iowa City was going to be tenuous at best. I would assume Iowa's willingness to take Griffith, which would have pushed Kennedy to 157 was as big a consideration. Clearly, if the Brands thought Chittum was the long term solution at 157, they wouldn't be going that route, right? Chittum can give any reason he wants for leaving. It doesn't mean I have to be so gullible as to take his word at face value.
  3. Despite this being a troll job, there is some truth to the OP. If simply the prospect of a single person joining the team is enough to send Chittum packing, he is either hopelessly fragile or had one foot out the door already. Or both. I suspect blaming Ferrari was just cover for the fact that his spot in the lineup wasn't as secure as some think.
  4. Can Chittum even beat Siebrecht? Sounds like Iowa was planning to move Kennedy down to 157 to get Griffith in the lineup. You don't need to invoke the Ferraris to realize that Chittum's spot in the lineup wasn't guaranteed. Believing a soundbite from Chittum on his reasons for moving is like taking Larry Lee's comments on Spencer pulling out of the US Open at face value. There may be some truth in what is being said but there is certainly more to the story here.
  5. There was talk of Kennedy moving to 157 if they picked up Shane Griffith. I am wondering if that miffed Chittum enough to head for the door. The idea that Anthony Ferrari, a guy that will probably never wrestle a match for Iowa, is the reason for Chittum leaving seems strange to me.
  6. That's what Treigning Lab and East Coast Treigning Lab are for. The math teacher-turned amateur triathlete seems to have it all figured out--just ask TJ Dillishaw...
  7. Pretty sure Farbman could do it all...
  8. If we're talking about a Karl Farbman armoire, he's golden.
  9. I thought it was understood that we're talking about the US MFS GOAT. Longevity is relevant when considering the typical arc of a career where the most dominant years are often in the middle (or at least not at the beginning) of a long reign. Gable looks like a hoss straight out of the gate. Again, let's see what happens at Worlds this year. If he curb-stomps everyone, he gets special consideration because he passes the eye test with his style at heavyweight.
  10. Agree with this sentiment. A limited total body of work isn't necessarily what should eliminate Steveson from consideration. He generally has the capacity to keep the match where is best and when that happens, he looks like a GOAT. However, the last time he was taken down he was turned like a top. Let's see how he looks at Worlds. If he is as dominant there as he was last week, the idea that he is the GOAT isn't as ridiculous as some think.
  11. I am very much in favor of Zahid getting a shot at the Worlds and Olympics. He can medal with the right draw. If he does transfer, I propose a new nickname: "The Mule".
  12. LOL, I can just imagine TNT and Larry Lee hashing this out in the basement of Carver. That is something I'd pay to watch.
  13. I feel his withdrawal from the tournament has more to do with the mentality displayed in this tweet than any physical hinderance at this point:
  14. LOL, I like Askren but this hasn't been a good week for him on Twitter.
  15. Luckily for DeSanto's development, he moved on from former Cornell coaches...
  16. Nah, last time he wrestled a Cornell guy, he beat Nashon Garrett.
  17. I seem to remember that they burned the kid's redshirt at an open tournament. I could understand being salty if a redshirt was burned needlessly but at the end of the day, there wasn't a spot in the lineup for him on a timescale relevant to his eligibility.
  18. I think during the drama related to whether Kemerer was going to wrestle, it was a relative of one of the backups affected by the decision. In every case, I just assume it is someone tangentially associated with the situation at hand that wants to stir the pot and/or be important.
  19. So who is actually feeding Mineo all this information. I assume, perhaps incorrectly, that there must be a source, however unreliable. It seems like it must be a rogues' gallery of NCAA wrestling degenerates.
  20. I think he is on record stating that he's would only be interested in the Wisconsin or Mizzou positions. I'd like to see what he could do at UW when that job becomes available again. I don't view Bono as the future if he's unable to mend fences his Askren and can't really recruit that well nationally.
  21. Wow, an absolute disaster if true. Unfortunately for OU fans, this job doesn't have the appeal it once did, despite the attractive salary and resources.
  22. Jealous of who, Cael? This thread isn't poking fun at him. I admired him as a wrestler and think he's a great coach. I don't have a "team". I enjoy cheering for any wrestler of great skill who plays within the rules and shows humility, regardless of their collegiate affiliation or country of origin. And while I find it suspicious that some of their athletes are hanging around Treigning Lab, outside of one or two notable exceptions, the Penn State greats are easy to cheer for. The original post was teasing the PSU homers coming to Cael's defense when he needs no defending. BTW, what happened to @TBar1977?
