  1. Day 2 finals starts in 35 minutes. Jump in the water is warm.
  2. "a pretty good price" - had a laugh there I wonder how much the re-filled bottles will fetch?
  3. It isn't about freedom of speech. It is about actions having consequences. He tweets in support of anti-Semitic ideas on Twitter.com (happy, @ionel?) and then he is surprised that advertisers do not want to be associated with that activity. Of course, he cannot say it is his own fault that he is killing twitter.com so he says it is the advertisers fault for pulling their ads from a company whose owner uses its product to support anti-Semitic ideas. Then he attempts to dress the whole thing up as freedom of speech or censorship. And some people are stupid enough to fall for that thinnest of argu, ents. He clearly has freedom of speech and he clearly has no censors, not an internal censor nor a CEO that is empowered to stop him from doing stupid things that harms the business he owns,. As evidence of this I point to all of his many, many, many tweets. He calls people pedophiles, files lawsuits to stop people from publishing reports about his product, and any number of other self-inflicted wounds. But it is never his fault. It is some evil cabal out to get him. And when he tells the very people he blames for ruining his company by refusing to buy his product they can F... themselves, how is anyone surprised that they do not spend money on his product? Why would they ever at this point? He is just too toxic a presence. Then you get guys like @headshuck who think it is war. The stupidity of that take is hard to quantify, and I spend all day, every day quantifying things. These are customers, sorry, were customers, who he is, in theory, trying to win business from, not enemies attacking him.
  4. So everyone is censoring speech? This runs deeper than I realized.
  5. The day I turned 16 my parents could not give me the keys to the car fast enough so that they did not have to sit in a chlorine sauna anymore. Any chance your son is a 15-18 distance swimmer and you get the pleasure of sitting around until the last event on Sunday? I got good at fractions by doing them in my head while swimming 1650's and 1500's.
  6. A couple things I find hilarious about this post: There is a whole other thread on here about how EVs are bad for the environment. Which is it? They are bad? They are good? Or does it depend on who is making the claim? Equating not advertising on Twitter with censoring speech is a ridiculous stretch. I assume you do not advertise on Twitter either, censor. He did not tell companies trying to censor free speech to F... themselves. He told companies he and his CEO are trying to woo to do business with him to F... themselves.
  7. Shipping is fine. Its always the handling that gets you.
  8. That op/ed is about sexualized juvenile content on Disney streaming services. What does any of that have to do with Musk or advertising on Twitter? Are you suggesting Musk is responsible for putting sexualized juvenile content on Disney?
  9. Who will provide that leverage? The banks burned by lending him money to buy Twitter? Haha. Of course they will. Memories are short in capital markets. But how does dousing Twitter in gasoline and throwing a lit match at it make Disney cheaper?
  10. How bad does Linda Yaccarino hate being Elon Musk's "boss" right now? Elon Musk tells advertisers who have stopped spending on X "Go f... themselves"
  11. Yeah, I will take the under on that $4 large. The NCAA says they hold 90 championships in 24 sports across 3 divisions. Lets say all 90 awarded fourth without head-to-head (they didn't), that comes to $44,444 per trophy and associated costs. Remove the obvious: swimming, track and field, gymnastics, cross country, and diving (6 sports x 2 genders x 3 divisions = 36) and you have only 54 trophies at $74k per. Maybe the NCAA just needs better accountants.
  12. I have not been able to find any confirmation of this from an NCAA source. Can anyone confirm?
  13. They always sign up late. And Casey Cunningham said in his pre-season email that they kept the first semester schedule light so that anyone who wanted to enter Sr. Nationals could do so.
  14. Thank God for that. For those of you who were busy, Katie Ledecky did Katie Ledecky things. Started in front and stretched her lead every single 50. She is amazing. She is on an 11 year unbeaten streak at the distance AND SHE IS ONLY 26. While she did not swim her fastest (or close to it) it means she still only has the fastest 30 times ever at the distance. Sadly, Bobby Finke did not do Bobby Finke things and finished third in the opening heat. Finke is the king of the negative split, but he got badly beaten over the second half of the race by Ohio State's Charlie Clarke.
  15. Amen to that, but I can empty a room in a heartbeat when you get me talking about distance swimming. 800m heats tonight. Gonna be a humdinger.
  16. I would think Crookham should be slight favorite even at Rec Hall.
