  1. Wasn't on the ropes eliminated as a qualifying criteria last year?
  2. Dresser actual broke a rule. He just wasn't punished for it.
  3. Yes, last time round they were on Peacock.
  4. I interviewed him for the position, but he could only count to two.
  5. Attention: Mark Manning: When I clicked on the link I was surprised it did not take me to Twitter.
  6. https://ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/championships/sports/wrestling/d1/men/2023-24D1MWR_ChampionshipsTimeline.pdf This document suggests the replacements are decided at the time of weigh-in on 3/21
  7. There are two. This is the older more trafficked site: https://pennstate.forums.rivals.com/forums/the-wrestling-room.16/ This is the newer site that split from the older site: https://www.on3.com/boards/forums/the-wrestling-room.50/
  8. Carter Starocci's own actions would suggest otherwise, but so what? Starocci earned the #1 seed, Wilson earned the #12 seed.
  9. This is a massive undertaking. Thank you so much for doing this and sharing with everyone. Man of the people.
  10. Found it. 2018. Turns out it is tough when you are corn fed. Nebraska freshman 133-pounder Jason Renteria did not make weight Thursday morning and was scratched from the tournament. Northwestern's Colin Valdiviez replaced Renteria in the bracket as an alternate. Scott DelVecchio had to be happy with the development, even though he and Renteria were on opposite sides of the bracket. Renteria beat the Rutgers senior three times this season, including twice at the Big Ten Championships two weeks ago. DelVecchio owns two wins against Valdiviez this season.
  11. I think @gimpeltf had info about this. If I recall correctly, the first alternate can be on site in case of a last minute change (like missed weight). The only missed weight I can remember was one in 2019 (or maybe 2018).
  12. Apparently, only the people down that hall have discovered the internet.
  13. Manning is saying exactly that. He gave an example of how he thinks Cael Sanderson should have handled Carter Starocci's situation. He is very clear on the subject.
  14. Yes, it is the coach's responsibility to win each year. Where the good of the sport comes in is the rule set. If the coach wins by breaking the rules, that is bad for the sport. As a result there are remedies for coaches who break the rules. And the remedies are designed, or should be designed, to make non-compliance more penal than compliance. If the argument is that the rules are bad because there was an outcome that the rule makers did not anticipate, then there is a remedy for that as well. Change the rules. As a matter of fact, we have seen massive rule changes in the past year alone, from how matches are scored to what it takes to qualify for the tournament, and what the seeding criteria are. And in this very instance, both the new qualification rule and the new seeding criteria came into play. Meanwhile, from a "pure casual fan, good of the sport" perspective, it is much better to have a three time champion who is going for four and did not receive any preferential treatment, in the the NCAA tournament, than to have a wrestler possibly make the tournament on a technicality after a season of results that do not justify his inclusion.
  15. Turns out Ferrari was the paid Iowa hater Tom Brands was talking about.
  16. I find nothing wrong with gamesmanship. That is just what people call strategy when they have been out-strategized. Most people fail to read and understand the rules of the game they participate in, even professionally. If they either do not know the rules, or do not like the rules, then change the rules. It is important to note that in this case the rules were changed, and Starocci is the #9 seed as a result. It is also worth noting that Starocci EARNED the #1 seed at the conference tournament. If Manning thinks it would be noble of him to reveal how injured he is, and truly believes that, so be it. It is naïve in the extreme. Claiming Wilson, or anyone else, should be bailed out of the seed they earned by someone else's unconfirmed injury (remember none of you, I, Manning, or @jajensen09 yet know if Starocci will wrestle Thursday) is also naïve, and an awful idea.
  17. I will take the over. His threads have been good lately.
  18. Perhaps. But, as someone who is not a big believer in coincidences, Manning chose to complain because it was about his wrestler more than it was about the process. I have my doubts Manning would have said, let me tell you about my guys' injuries so that you can lower their seeds.
  19. But needing to go to the bench is always occasional. You can add Nick Lee's freshman year to that when they pulled his redshirt after Jered Cortez got hurt.
  20. It is curious that he used Schlatter as an example. Schlatter also entered both tournaments and double defaulted both tournaments. Schlatter also kept someone out of the NCAA tournament. He is only different from Starocci because of his seed at the B1G tournament. I also find it humorous because Starocci did not keep Wilson out of the tournament. If Starocci is seeded 14 and double injury defaults, he is still in and Wilson is still 35th in a 33 man bracket. And you can play the, yeah but what if the bracket was different game. If Starocci was the #14 and everyone bumped up then Wilson gets Maylor in round 1, who he had lost to in the dual (4-2) to start his 2-6 slide to end the season, and end his season.
  21. All payouts are structured as a percentage of the downstroke. I think you should start that addition on the house, or get that new set of wheels you have been eyeing up.
  22. I assume that does not include bonus points.
