  1. You've made this point before without say where the info comes from. Put up or... ya know.
  2. I'd have to yes. Would I also receive a non-zero benefit from the raised taxes? Probably. Would others, in a worse situation, get more benefit from those raised taxes? I hope so. Would it be worth it? Yes. Do you feel it would not be worth someone less well off to get a benefit from someone who can afford it, paying higher taxes?
  3. Is it? Where? I'm in favor of spending money to make money. Education, a better healthcare system, and helping people become citizens are investments. Much research has been done that returns on these investments are substantially higher. If this is the case would you be in favor of it?
  4. Why is that bad? They still pay taxes in other ways, right? And often in higher % of income then any other taxes. So what's the problem.
  5. My theory is, that regardless of where they came from and their status as a citizen, anyone with knowledge of this country that has an opinion of how it could be improved should be listened to. That's all we were talking about. You, as I understand it, disagree. If so, why?
  6. It is too low. I wish I could afford to pay more. But I can't. If I made more, I'd pay more and that's fine with me. I want people in much worse places than me to get a leg up and not suffer for the bad luck of being born in their situation. Money doesn't trickle down. We know this. As a non-rich person. It does me no good to vote for people that try to help rich people keep their money. Taxing them more will not make them suffer or fall out of their rich-ness. But will help many poor people become contributing members of society. Which I imagine is something everyone can get behind.
  7. Why do you think this is point in your favor? If you have a point to make why don't you make it. Instead of shut down a conversation. Shutting down someone feels great and all but why not convince them of your point? Who wins when you do that?
  8. 1. Our country might be better then there's but still not as good as it could be. Is your opinion that our country is as good as it could ever be. 1 should their opinion be excluded because they're in a country that is not their original home? 2. I guess it does. 3. Negating my questions isn't an answer. They 'shouldn't be' because you haven't given an answer why they should. We give ALL the rights then start to take them away. Not the other way around. 4. Leaning a bit in the condescending and arrogant tone. Not really appreciating it. I don't think I've struck a tone at all close to this but to each their own. Still no response to this. It still makes no sense. Care to edit? Something Still not convinced you know what I'm talking about. You're turn.
  9. If you look at this sentence, it makes no sense. But regardless, you seem to be doubling down on petty. Care to get back to why you don't think non-citizens shouldn't have their opinions heard?
  10. So then where did this come from? I asked for clarification. Said, I am not getting it. And you responded with.... adding no clarification. Just to point out that you weren't clear enough for me to get your point. But offering no way for me to continue in the conversation. Is that what you're hoping for, that I just can't follow and the conversation ends?
  11. You didn't add the question(pointing up) that you were responding to. Too many posts to keep it straight. Care to clarify?
  12. Also, you didn't answer my question. Do you have an idea of what my theory is or no. Because your response doesn't get at it. Makes me think 'no'. If you want me to spell it out, I can, if its not clear. Just making sure we're on the same page so we don't get confused and frustrated and start lashing out.
  13. You not being clear or concise is not a fault of mine. But I appreciate the pettiness. Says a lot.
  14. You don't think we, or other countries, have people there that have even the slightest bit of influence over how they do things? I'll bet we do. I'll bet plenty of other countries do. Our embassies are there. They have some, if only a little bit, of influence. Greater than zero I'll bet.
  15. But we still haven't brought up an issue that might be in conflict with the constitution. If we have please let me know?
