I don't think he is smart enough or able to actually pull it off. He is just trying to keep from dying in prison. Which is probably why he declared his candidacy for re-election on the day after his inauguration. Political donations are free money and grifters gonna grift and suckers are born every minute. He refused to release his taxes even though it was legal to do so. I would assume, knowing full well that when they did come out that THIS. WOULD. HAPPEN. TO. HIM!
