I'm sorry. To answer your question. I get that from your lack of understanding of people in that situation and lack of sympathy to their situation. That typically comes off as disdain or contempt. And not knowing if they are actual or declared survivors, your reaction would have you feeling disdain for some actual survivors. So you DO, in fact, have disdain for sexual assault survivors by your own admittance.
-
Have you met anyone that has survived a situation like that? Better question, what do the overwhelming number of experts in this field say is an average response to surviving a situation like that? Hint: common responses to surviving sexual assault A big one is embarrassment. Feeling like it was your fault and not wanting anyone to know. Does that seem like something that would make the telling of your story, easy or timely?
-
Did you not put together your two questions in the middle with my response? Take another look. The last question I felt is rhetorical. If you would like to posit your response to the opposing sentiment in the form of a similar question it would go a long way to help me determine what you're asking and how to answer.

You're comfortable where you are at in life and don't want to sacrifice any little bit of your life to help others. Fine. If you worked for it, that's your choice. All while I try to convince you otherwise. You treat these as personal attacks. So you lash out. Like anyone would if they were being attacked. Then try to convince everyone that its not lashing it out. That is perfectly healthy name calling/trolling/gaslighting and that you shouldn't be taken seriously. But you should talk to someone. It might help you find peace. Good luck.

I'm ok with this one = woman. If they want to present themselves as a woman, they can be considered a woman. If you had to refer to everyone by their names, only. Would it be difficult to address a big strong man as Tiffany if they asked? I don't really see a difference. Accept one wants to change the whole appearance to fit the name and one just wants to change the name. Why draw a line at all? Sex vs Gender remember even within sex there are exceptions. You can agree or disagree with these. If you could elaborate a bit as to why, that would help move things forward. To your response to gender affirming care: I understand that's your opinion but shouldn't medical procedures (that have been tested and tried, that are also endorsed by many medical associations as useful/beneficial) be left to the parents, the children, and the doctors to determine is right for them? I'll just guess that your answer is some version of 'no'. So my follow up question, if you would be so kind, where would this end? Because if your answer to this is different, there's another conversation that pregnant people would like an answer to. Medicine that has been done and shown to have beneficial effects is now banned for no good reason other than 'I think its icky' (the experiment angle is done, this stuff is not an experiment, its been tested and measured). That it happens to be practiced on children, at times, should give you no more pause then giving kids chemo for leukemia(similar side effects to gender affirming care). Does that bother you? (the chemo part, kids having leukemia bothers everyone, it sucks) The argument can be made that the treatment is used to help save their lives. One is from cancer. The other is from something less tangible but still devastating to members of the community.

Why are you so scared of exploring your trauma? You clearly have some. Try using some of the mental health care opportunities that will soon NOT be offered to struggling children in Ohio. That's the important thing. Keep the marginalized under your boot where they belong. Until you can trot them out to scare people away from voting.

There you have it. Right from the horse's.... mouth. Flex on ChatJBT. You earned it! Bring him all the muffins and bagels in the land. The day is yours. You have vanquished another semantic argument that still makes you look like a hateful bigot! All while ignoring the fact that medical care for kids has been banned, because, I don't know, demons or something. Not sure the payoff was worth it. C'est la vie.

This is where it feels like you are being purposefully dishonest. Maybe I'm wrong. We know those racist practices happened. For decades. Red lining by banks to force certain groups into certain areas and law makers then moved high ways to cut them off and prevent investment from adding value to the neighborhoods which led to schools getting less funding and more crime. We know these things happened. People were actively trying to keep a group from gaining wealth. IT HAPPENED. My question is where do you draw the line between; when those things happened and directly and indirectly effected people to the point where we are no longer responsible for the consequences? Where is that line? My health care example was not group specific. I mentioned that in the post. Just another example of things keeping people from being able to grow their wealth and elevate their station. Another crappy thing about this country that other countries do better. And your response to that is pretty typical of someone with no experience or sympathy with struggling people. If the public transportation in your neglected neighborhood is shoddy at best how do you suppose someone afford to get to a better job? The ability to take a risk to apply for another job or take work off to go on an interview is not as ubiquitous as you may think. The same reason for mail in voting or a voting holiday exists here. Giving someone just a little bit of flexibility would improve the outcome, maybe not a ton, but a bit. Attack on business? Is that what you think I'm doing? And why are you defending them as if they need it? Is there some trauma there? Safe space! Honest questions; in your opinion, the companies that made record profits during rampant inflation, did they come by those honestly? Your paranoia is new. You keep bringing up emotion. That I mention empathy and sympathy I guess are giveaways. I care about people, I don't like seeing me hurt. As much as the law should show no passion or prejudice in the application. I feel creating the laws should take the opposite track.

When you call someone a liar you take on the burden of proof, a la 45. Do you have $88m I could come after? If you would've asked where I saw that info I probably would've offered it. As it is easy to find, I'll let you twist in the wind until you feel the need to find it yourself. If you had been honest, curious, or non-judgmental(thanks Ted!) I may have given you a pass.
-
And there you go deflecting again. I commend you and your flexibility to not answer an inconvenient question and pivot to nonsense. (applause)

If you answered the questions I posed in my first response you, likely, wouldn't need to ask this follow up question. Take another swing at it.

'What policies are in place currently that is keeping some group from gaining ground?' Funding for public education. Property taxes in poor areas aren't enough to meet the needs of the area. Areas that have been woefully underfunded since RED LINING! The money needed to bring schools up to a reasonable average, at this point, is too high. So we can raise taxes. You're not a fan. Take money from affluent areas to help less fortunate areas. You're not a fan. Or we can just have the government pony up more for those areas than others. You're not a fan, because that isn't fair. Seems like you're not a fan of paying for poor kids to get a better education. Health care policy. Paying a higher % of your salary to medical care would keep someone from saving or investing. Eliminate that cost and people would be able to move to a better job or take a risk to start a business. This one is across the board btw, all groups are hit with this one, some more then others but all are effected. 'How would you provide a more equal floor for every single person in the US??' Tax uber rich and corporations that stole money from us during inflation. Cap their profits so they are more inclined to reinvest in R&D, higher wages and tax bonuses. Take the money swim in it like Scrooge McDuck then hand it out to struggling schools to replace lead pipes and moldy tile and crumbling walls and pay for teachers and books and equipment so that a minimum standard of education can be attained throughout the country. Universal pre-school and pre-k too. That'll also help working families. Throw a ton of money at that too. Like, a ton. Its expensive and needed. Something can't be fair if its also unequal.

Just out of curiosity, do you feel the same way about the other court cases he'll be attending this campaign season?

It was Flavor-Aid

I hope they never have to.

Your disdain for assault survivors is showing. Don't forget kids that are abused have just as difficult a time remembering details as adults do. Are they still frivolous or something?

Touched a nerve, huh? Have you asked me what my thoughts are on reparations? Not in this thread at least. Seems like you're responding to a question I never answered and are upset with it. Take a breath. Ask a question. Do you even want the answer or is your mind made up and unwavering? Reparations is an incredibly complicated issue. Firstly we must ask who to consider and why to consider them. Descendants of slaves and Native Americans for instance. Slaves(among others), following emancipation were not allowed to vote for 100 years, that would effect your ability to move up. Not having any or many people like you to represent your interests. Red lining in cities all over the country. With some digging you could put a value to what was possible and denied to them for no reason other then looks. The many massacres that happened in places all over america motivated by a group attaining a little bit of wealth and affluence and the people around them being racist and envious. Oh, and knowing with near certainty that they'd be able to get away with it. Which they did! and for the last time, its not to even things out. Its to help provide a more equal floor(minimum starting point vs ceiling seemingly infinite landing point) with which people can start. Where they go after, for many, is up to them. This is predicated on public resources being divided equally to help everyone at the same level. People were systematically held back for reasons they had no control of and would be illegal today. They were cruel then and yet not illegal. Those were the values of the time. Glad they have changed. Your argument to just leave things as they are considering what we know, is puzzling. What makes people hesitate to treat someone wrong if they are so inclined? It could be that its wrong in the eyes of society and that if caught the punishment will be equal to or greater than the benefit of the illicit act. Regardless of where your ancestors came from, they and you have benefited from the practices that kept other groups from gaining ground. Money that was diverted from schools and other programs to more affluent areas. Better access to schools, roads, public transportation, even grocery stores. Those are all benefits of not being a group that has been systematically oppressed. Do you have to be rich to have benefitted and have privilege? No. If you have a family member that took advantage of the GI bill at any point prior to 1956, they and through them, you benefitted from opportunities denied to millions of people because of color.

Can I ask, why would Lavar Burton have to do anything and who would hold him accountable to that? I commend him for taking that leap. Hearing that information must've been quite a shock. No. No one HAS to do anything. But refusing to even consider it says a lot. Yes, he possibly could. Some folks you wouldn't think have been effected by racism, have been effected by racism. That's why we ask the questions. Nope. No give back.

It is confusing. Agreed. The more we talk about it, honestly, the less confusing it will be.
