  1. Calling that Stewart vs Rogotzke quarter, Truax pulling some PSU magic and seeing the winner in the semis. Salazar looks big, and I don’t think Rogotzke is a good draw on day 1 of the tournament for him.
  2. Croo(k)ham I think will make short work of the resident geriatric at the weight.
  3. This is for anyone who’s watched big ten broadcasts
  4. Well, this (un)surprisingly feels like another bait and switch move by wrestling media. When do the actual brackets come out?
  5. Oh 100%, it’s definitely the smart thing to do. No point to add any wear and tear when the focus has to be healing.
  6. I was just thinking this exact question, you’re not the only one who can’t wait to find out.
  7. Can’t wait to hear that he’s out of the hospital doing better. Dude is such a legend.
  8. Just own that you want to be butthurt about it. In English this is what we call moving the goalposts. You were indignant bc “Nobody ever forfeits out of NCAA’s, but Spencer did because be’s a special level of quitter!” rather than an injured athlete being smart, which is a very regular occurrence, yes even at NCAA’s. You now have proof. The other athletes who are a “special level of quitter” from that year are Peyton Robb, Trent Muñoz and Trent Hilger. All elite quitters over the course of their careers clearly.
  9. That’s factually incorrect, last year alone 4 of the ten weight classes had a placement match decided by med forfeit. 2 of those 4 wrestlers did the full semi-final med forfeit slide.
  10. To put it delicately, this is butt hurt nonsense. He won NCAA’s with no ACl’s. Wrestlers Med Forfeit out to 6th in almost every college tournament that is held. He showed an example of when enough is enough, you have to listen to yourself and do what is right for you. T&T or his teammates aren’t going to do the rehab if he incurred ANOTHER acl injury. Choosing your own health is never a bad thing.
  11. I think he would have told Vito he was done after last year. He would have made the smarter long-term move for Vito, sat him for this year, had him finish his school credits, and be ready for the olympic process. This year absolutely looks like it took the tread off Vito's tires.
  12. At a bare minimum, it shouldn't be called the Starrocci Rule, it could be the Suriano Rule, or more accurately, the Schlatter Rule. He was the pioneer in blowing up brackets with a blown out knee as far as I can remember.
  13. That is f*cking preposterous. I don’t do this often, but to quote rob koll on this very concept, “c’mon, at some point you have to grow up and move in.”
  14. This isn’t very surprising. Beard gets a lot of great press and promotion, but he’s AA’d once and took 7th. People love a good story, but let’s have Beard get past someone like Jaxon Smith or Glazier first before we entertain the exceedingly hypothetical. If they straight up Jet Li poisoned brooks it still might not be a very close match.
  15. Nagao came back for third, and looked like he was really feeling good. His offense is really a limiting factor, he really only has one shot, but if he gets scrappy, he can make good things happen. He did this last year too. He’s probably got some mckee blood to him, doesn’t really bring the hear until the matches really matter.
  16. What I think the #1 seed will be, followed by who I think will win the tournament. 125: Davis, Davis 133: Crookham, Crookham 141: Mendez, Bartlett 149: Lovett, Lovett 157: Haines, Shapiro 165: KOT, Mesenbrink 174: Lewis, Lewis 184: Keckeisen, TJ Stewart 197: Brooks, Brooks 285: Kerk, Bastida
  17. Maryland generally does not mess around when it comes to providing good facilities for things...what with that under armour money and all. They may not always bring in the top top athletes, but their facilities are, just from what I have seen, always going to be top shelf. They probably looked less crowded just because the place was so big.
  18. Very true, I don't think Mark or Cenzo did either, but that was a bit before their collective times. Penn State, and the sport more broadly hasn't always been quite this big on spreading the word of the good book, it kinda goes in waves, or hops sport to sport. Back in the day football used to be (still is, just not as vocally on TV at least), real big on "god family football." I don't remember DT, Ed Ruth, or Retherford ever doing any of that. Cassar was one of the first movers.
  19. I legitimately don’t know the answer here, but Cael brings the Utah brand of “glory to god” into the room. Is there any sort of requirement within Mormonism that says, for example, in interviews or similar situations athletes are required to include a statement like that? Like are they actually coached into saying that?
  20. Oof, that is a possibility, that match could either be a major/tech for stewart, or he could be on his back and sent to the long side of the bracket in 45 seconds. Also, Rogotzke, dude is basically bryce andonian in a 184 frame. He doesn’t just play with fire, he’s practically made of it.
  21. Thomas Stewart from Va Tech is getting very little coverage. He is going to be seeded low and is currently my top pick for being a major bracket buster. That kid can wrestle like few I’ve seen. Seeding gods permitting, I’m calling him taking out Plott handily in a semifinal, and then having an absolute war for the ages with keckeisen in the finals. I hope Pinto doesn’t hit him early bc, as crazy as this sounds, I don’t think Pinto has the horsepower to make his gameplan work against Stewart.
  22. And if he’s what qualifies as a real punk nowadays, we ought rejoice because the quality of individual that takes the mat has gone up 1000% in the past ten years, bc I can think of maybe 5 people I met throughout 4 years of wrestling in college who would qualify as being less abrasive than him. Now, maybe scrubs like me deal with more dumb d-bags, but even so, I can scarcely imagine what would be said about the lion’s share of people I knew who competed back in the late 2000’s.
  23. You can edit posts, you don’t have to talk to yourself. And…c’mon, this level of indignation towards another fellow keyboard warrior is a solid 16.5 shades away from being self aware, unless you somehow sponsor C Starr and paid for him to do some sort of celebration or wear some of your gear that he wasn’t able to follow through on bc he couldn’t wrestle. But, again, c’mon…
  24. We aren’t always worthy of the art that this place gifts us sometimes. This is amazing.
