  1. Zain was pretty good, too! DT is an all-time great but "only" won twice, so I think he's out of the conversation. If they get four (five), Brooks and Starocci are both all-timers on anyone's list, but lack of bonus, greyshirting and Covid years have kinda muddied things up a bit. I may even like Ed Ruth over the two for these reasons.
  2. This makes sense. I've never seen a seatbelt or bodylock throw in freestyle.
  3. Shane Sparks and Robert Urich? Who knew?
  4. "fellar" Ummm... probably the best translation for the Plato quote is "Ignorance is the root of MISFORTUNE.' You are trying to school me, but end up using an adjective instead of a noun. Real brainiac! I guess you are ignorant, making you misfortunate! The "keggers' guy! I was just pointing out the hypocrisy, and you gave me more hypocrisy! There was literally an article in the local PSU paper saying injuries were probably going to cost them the title. Their solution to plug these holes was going to be a guy coming off an ACL surgery. This was only back in 2020, when many of the current PSU bunch were in school. 2020! PSU guys are injured at a fairly high rate. It just hasn't cause them to miss a lot of time since covid. Recency bias
  5. At no point did I say that I was invoking irony. Indeed, I am sincere. I am sincerely focusing on the double standard.
  6. (Anytime a guy with a black and gold singlet gets hurt, it is blamed on "1970s training techniques, " "load management," etc.; even if the guy arrived in Iowa City with previous injuries. I'm just (tongue in cheek) applying the same logic to PSU, who also has had plenty of injuries)
  7. One guy took 4th at the other school and then injured himself again at PSU. "Improperly managed injuries.' Another guy chose to wrestle freestyle during the season. "Improperly managed athlete who had multiple seasons lost to injuries at PSU." But this has quickly been forgotten about. I think PSU probably needs to dial back the "1970s style training methods."
  8. Because voting to ignore past results got his 125 the #1 seed over Glory. Thus, he didn't mind Yianni at #1. It is not what is best for the sport, it is about what is best for his team.
  9. Like this? https://www.yorkdispatch.com/story/sports/college/psu/football/2020/01/08/penn-state-suffers-two-wrestling-injuries-could-derail-title-hopes/2842535001/
  10. Yianni's coach voted to keep the seeds the way they were at EIWA!
  11. Despite what PSU says, I find it hard to say that Brooks won B1G as a true freshman. He was a greyshirt and focused on training for a year after high school,
  12. I thought he retired? https://www.nj.com/highschoolsports/2020/03/126-pound-final-bergen-catholics-robert-howard-leaves-legacy-for-all-to-see.html
  13. Are you saying PSU mismanaged an injury? I thought only Iowa did that!
  14. Showing that people of different sizes can compete? I don't get what is wrong?
  15. Completely unrelated to the topic, but I also think Terry's actual development took longer. I once heard him say that Tom wrestled almost entirely with a left lead, whereas Terry wrestled both. Tom was primarily single to your right leg and high crotch to your left. Terry said it took him an extra year or so to be really good, because he was trying to perfect both shots to both sides.
  16. They reference that zoo fact from time to time. This was something else that Pyles didn't want Askren to talk about because Pyles was worried about the fallout. "Cheating allegations" was a term that was used.
  17. Maybe they were talking about Witchcraft's potential to throw Glory? That would explain why I thought they were talking EIWA and you thought they were talking OSU?
  18. Kinda like when Sasso wrestle Yianni. Sasso's scrambles, that seem to work so well against everyone else, tend to fall short.
  19. I'm not insinuating anything, but I am curious as to what Askren was insinuating. My guess is you may be on to something based upon what the Flo Bros were discussing when Ben brought up the "rumor."
  20. Yes. You have achieved what you intended to achieve. Congrats on that. My issue has never been with Iowa seeds, and I am not sure why I am being congratulated on Iowa's B1G performance. I was almost 700 miles away in Raleigh (and I didn't wrestle.) My issue is with your flawed reasoning and the insult levied at the military. My Wolfpack has decent seeds, although Hidlay looks to be in a lot of trouble.
  21. I have a problem with this. And 2nd place in B1G is literally not "middling." You may have some issues.
