  1. 2019 Hodge race was looking like co-winners heading into NCAA tournament: Nolf and Nickal. Nolf's razor thin win in semi over older Hidlay seemed to cost him.
  2. Metzger was a 4 time AA. and another to add to the list based on international success is Kevin Jackson - Olympic gold, I think 2 world golds as well. college not too bad either (4x AA?) but never a champ.
  3. didn't know that history with the Purler brothers, thanks
  4. Colin Kilrain is another good one from Massachusetts. Took 3rd three times for Lehigh.
  5. kind of surprised Ty Moore made your list for all-time college. Phenomenal HS career but never AAd in college. RIP Ty Moore.
  6. Sammie was a 2 time NCAA champ. Internationally in addition to the Olympic silver, he was also world champ one year and won bronze another.
  7. How much longer do you all think Smith will stay on at Mizzou? He’s 55 or so I think.
  8. Barry Davis, Lenny Zalesky, Jim Zalesky. 1982
  9. yeah Mark Schultz wrestled in the '79 tournament for UCLA
  10. Article mentions Oregon and Washington having programs in the past, but not UCLA. Think UCLA dropped around same time Washington did, shortly after having a national champ, heavyweight Fred Bohna. To answer the question, I doubt we see any of the 4 add/bring back wrestling. I hope I am wrong.
  11. who wrestles tonight in Starocci's place if he is out?
  12. trying to think of some other dominant teams that might have had all 10 highly seeded at NCAAs. Looked at the '86 Iowa team that scored over 150 with 5 champs. unfortunately for sake of this discussion they don't meet the criteria as they didn't even have qualifiers at 118 and Hvy. but 126 through 190 were seeded 3,2,1,2,3,1,3,1. that's just sick.
  13. Iowa ‘92 all 10 were seeded top 7 at NCAA tournament so maybe at some point that year? Seeds from 118 up were 2,1,1,1,5,2,7,6,3,7
  14. Ah missed that but Portland St maybe still qualifies
  15. Wade Schalles/Clarion. Dan Cuestas/Cal St Bakersfield. Rick Sanders/Portland St.
  16. KOT needs to get his 3rd first and CStar his 4th. If that happens and they come back for a 5th tournament next year, I really hope they avoid each other in regular season. Goes against everything I usually want to see, best vs best as often as possible, but for a guy going for 5th title vs guy going for 4th I want them both undefeated and the lead up to that final to be insane.
  17. Oklahoma St beat them 30-10 '03-'04 season
  18. quick look so definitely could have missed some, Ok St beat them 27-12 '18-'19 season, PSU beat them 28-13 '17-'18 season, back a little further Minnesota beat them 25-9 '05-'06.
  19. guessing top 5 in order Pa, Oklahoma, Ohio, Iowa, Illinois
  20. Mitch Clark / Barry Weldon NCAA final, pretty significant difference in height here
  21. True, but NCState did benefit greatly from one transfer. Gwiz coming over with Coach Pop really got things moving for the Wolfpack.
  22. Watched The Last Champion last night. Wrestling scenes were decent.
  23. this was linked in the greco discussion I mentioned 'Watching Dominoes Fall' Part II: In Too Deep (fivepointmove.com)
  24. there was a good bit of discussion on the international forums a while back on how shitty USAW treats Greco
  25. I remember being very impressed with Greg Strobel after watching this for the first time years back. RIP Coach Strobel
