    Gomez

IF Gomez wins out, I think he ends up earning the 1 seed, right? He needs to be opposite of Henson, because I don't think he wins that match. Let Lovett beat him in the bottom semi-finals.
  2. One thing that would be going against Carr is that if he loses to O'Toole, that gives him at least his 2nd loss. If Ramirez and him both finish with two losses that would mean that O'Toole lost once as well. If O'Toole sweeps the series in the regular season, I don't see how he isn't the one. That, however, would put Carr at three losses and Ramirez at two. Even if CR and common opponents are favor of Carr, winning percentage, conference championship and head to head would not be. Add in that While 165 has four guys all highly favored to pull AA this year, EIWA may qualify more guys (they currently have more 'ranked' in the Top 33). That would also mean that Ramirez would hold the Quality Wins advantage. In this scenario, Carr would need the committee to move him above Ramirez, which I don't see happening because Ramirez did beat him. Honestly if Ramirez wins out and Carr loses twice to O'Toole the coaches might not rank Carr ahead of Ramirez anyways.
  3. You're using an example of a weight that was clear-cut, though. 1-4 mattered, yes, but it was because he lost to the three seed who lost to the two seed who lost to the one seed. You don't seed NCAAs based off results at that NCAAs... it isn't possible. A better example is 133lbs, where RBY was moved ahead of Fix at 133lbs. I don't think it matters... Arujau was legitimately unbeatable at that tournament and for the next several months on the International stage... That said, matches are wrestled for a reason and had RBY gotten Arujau in the semi-finals with the winner facing the Fix-McGee winner up top (McGee won for 3rd, but semi-finals is different... also of note is that McGee gave Arujau all he could handle earlier in the season). That is a weight I would say that the seeding mattered. The committee intervened and moved RBY up, however they did so based on last season's results - which should not have been a thing and is explicitly stated that they do not do in the seeding criteria.
  4. Remember how Lugo couldn't do anything with Degan because of a ~three foot height difference?
  5. If the mold is to fit Dan Gable -> Gable Stevenson then we will see Cael Sanderson -> Sanderson Edward. It will be a mirror - flip. Instead of going N-NW 4.5 hours this kid will go N-NE 4.5 hours and go to Cornell after growing up in Cody, Wyoming. The other school in contention for his services? South Dakota State... but Cornell will him. He is going to be the only four time undefeated champion from four different weights, 133, 149, 165, 184 and he will then win Olympic Gold at 97 KG. It has been foretold.
  6. Also in addition to what @Le dukehas said, if Bekzod cannot beat Zhamlov out for the spot and does not yet wish to retire, 86 KG might be the only option for him.
  7. Ah yeah. Who was the 2nd one they moved up?
  8. The committee can move guys up or down up to three positions. They did it with RBY last year to give him the #1 seed as well as O'Toole (I think?).
  9. It is different because of two things. - We are assuming Mesenbrink remains undefeated in this scenario. No 184lber was undefeated. - Brooks 1 loss was to a guy who ended up being seeded 5th. O'Toole's would presumably be to a guy who would be seeded no worse than third. The scenarios aren't apples and oranges, but they aren't the same either.
  10. Lemley failed skin check at 141. Travel rules are 15 can travel. B1G rules are if you have one dual on the road that weekend you can only travel with 13.
  11. I can't ***ducking** believe JC whiffed on the opportunity to call it team Ionel...
  12. I know that. IF David Carr loses to O'Toole, he will also have two losses. Add in Hall and Izzy are both in the B12 and Ramirez has... Mulvaney? Cerniglia? Kim? They're world's different as far as depth goes, BUT EIWA could have 5 or 6 AQ, which will help Ramirez in the QW department.
  13. I don't think sportsmanship is a criteria anymore. It shouldn't be in either case. Steveson won, after all.
  14. Additional info to chew on. https://www.flowrestling.org/articles/10709742-aaron-brooks-the-3-here-are-7-surprising-ncaa-wrestling-championship-seeds
  15. He is small compared to some other 165lbers. That doesn't mean he is undersized. I would call him average sized.
  16. If you cared to pay attention, you would know that I am well aware that the ASC plays in to the coaches ranking. Seeds and predictions are all quite different animals. Seeds are based off results, which rankings try to take in to account as well. Predictions are typically well off because then you have more of an opinion factored in and you are able to take in to account who you THINK the best at the weight is. Aaron Brooks as the 3 seed made sense. He popped out as the 3 seed in the seeding formula. He had a worse RPI, worse winning percentage, less quality wins and worse results against common opponents (Coleman for Keckeisen). The seeding formula is a formula. The only opinion based thing on opinion there is Coaches Ranking, which I am pretty sure he was #1 on still. You keep saying there is precedence and using a piss-poor example. Brooks had actually lost and that dropped him down on a lot of criteria, especially since his match count was less than the other guys with one loss (Hidlay/Keckeisen). The same will be said for Mesenbrink if he takes a loss. There are quite a few other guys that will have a better winning percentage because of his match count. For example, if O'Toole and Carr both go 1-1 on the way out, with one of them winning the title, the one who loses will lose the conference title criteria of the seeding formula to an undefeated Mesenbrink. He also loses winning percentage. Those are two that he is already behind on. Here is a thread that Nomad had started last year regarding this...
  17. He had no difficulty with Amine, who is well touted by his opponents for being the strongest they have wrestled.
  18. Not really apples to apples, mate. PK and TH both had one loss on the season prior and they split. Brooks had one loss to someone who wasn't either of them. Brooks had one loss to someone who wasn't even a title contender in most people's eyes (the coach's being the most important one to consider due to Coach's Rank).
  19. It's actually worse than what they had with Davis. They were consistently beating a consistently better Sparty team with Davis, weren't they?
  20. A damn fine showing by tOSU gents all-around. Some head scratchers early on, but definitely a great win for the team.
  21. I agree on this take. Bartlett wrestles close matches against guys afraid to lose and he tends to win comfortably against guys who aren't afraid to open up a little bit. Mendez isn't afraid to press the accelerator to the floor. It will either work or it won't. A 3 to 1 advantage one way or the other is how I see it.
