  1. They need to create the list of WTT challenge tourney qualifiers at 92kg, as this article was published prior to Cox declining his bye to Final X.
  2. Cox declined his 92kg bye to Final X. As the US Open champ at 97kg, he will go against Snyder at Final X. There will be WTT tournaments on May 21st at 61kg, 92kg, and 125kg, as there were either no returning world medalists or the returning medalist (Cox) declined their bye.
  3. Any predictions on how long it will take Zahid to join Anthony on the Mexican national team?
  4. I understand where 8+ years ago it made sense to give a bye to the finals for returning world medalists. Given Team USA’s improved performance over recent years, should the bye only be extended to returning world champs (or finalists)? It is not out of the ordinary to see multiple US wrestlers in the UWW top ten rankings. This year also offers an interesting anomaly, in that Russia did not participate in the 2022 World Championships, perhaps over-inflating some of the byes. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Didn’t he essentially accomplish the task at hand - qualify for WTT? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. All true... and people still spell his name incorrectly.
  7. Why don’t you open the multi-page thread already started on this topic and read the opinions for yourself? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I saw a Facebook on Tom Elling's Wrestling Page that leads me to believe that Gettysburg (PA) HS could possibly be inspiration behind the often-ridiculed polo-wearing coach in Vision Quest. The second photo below comes from the 1978 PIAA District III Section 1 program.

    Wow

Admittedly, this belongs on either the HS or International board… but just had to share. The full match is also posted in the thread. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. Point taken. I was just being recent in my comment.
  11. corrected previous post to state, "lost challenge"
  12. Like them all. Not a huge fan of the beard rule, but I can see where it is necessary from a non-discrimination viewpoint. Would still like to see the 1-point penalty for a list challenge. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. This is the only photo from that bout that has any value...
  14. Definitely a great match. I can see myself in the video, watching from my front row seat.
  15. I'd take Cenzo v, IMar at 165. Suggest you mute the volume to avoid having to hear Byers' call. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1253352818051113
  16. I had a similar a-ha moment regarding Dake. Dake's dual debut at Cornell was at home against 4th ranked Maryland SR Alex Krom, who was coming off an NCAA 5th place finish the prior season. I was aware of Krom from his HS days at Easton, but had never heard of Dake. Watched the stream live. Dake was down, 3-2 and RT with just over a minute to go. He escaped, locked Krom up in a bear hug and threw him to his back to win, 8-3. https://www.flowrestling.org/video/5170197-dirty-dake
  17. Dake (137-4 career) won an EIWA title at 141 as a frosh in 2010, with two non-conference losses that season (Reece Humphrey and Zack Bailey at the CKLV). His other losses were during the 2011-12 season to Donnie Vinson (December dual) and Kevin LeValley (2011 EIWA final). Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. Kemp's modern weight class would be 165. He was a 150 as a frosh, moving up to 158 for this three championship seasons.
  19. They still are a good wrestling family. Nathan Desmond (2x PIAA AAA champ) is the son of Sara Ciasulli Desmond. A lot of athletic talent in that family - her daughter, Nicole, is an elite-level gymnast, who recently competed in a qualifier for the Junior World team. Their youngest son competed in the PJW States last weekend.
  20. True. But I was staying within the current framework of ten weight classes.
  21. It's not that difficult to blend-in the weight classes prior to the 1998 seven-pound increase (1970-1998). Or, if you're adventurous, include the eras prior to 1970. This covers you back to 1952, when ten weight classes were introduced. 115/115/118/125 123/123/126/133 130/130/134/141 137/137/142/149 147/145/150/157 157/152/158/165 167/167/167/174 177/177/177/184 191/191/190/197 UNL/UNL/HWT/285
  22. Your post might make sense if Truax was a full-feed 197. Reality is he was only three pounds over 184+1 on day two if this year’s tourney. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. No He’s indicated in past interviews that 157 is the perfect weight for him. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
