  1. Yes, “in theory” is of course just a guess and a lot can change by next year. I don’t like either of them either. Just saying I don’t think next year’s teams will be all that different especially when you consider tonight’s results. Anthony likely isn’t beating Swiderski or Paniro if he’s not in jail, and Iowa won 184 (Angelo) and 197 (AJ) tonight. Like I said, could come down to Kueter vs Bastida. Or not, no one knows.
  2. Here is the Chittum replay
  3. Lol you seem triggered. Long time until next year, maybe Iowa gets some more portal guys
  4. Check the video a couple posts up. I agree with no TD, but it’s awfully close
  5. As he pointed out though, they restarted and wrestled 1 second… I was more commenting on prior to that.
  6. @jross I actually just watched this like 20x and I actually could see this being called either way. It does seem like there is an ever so slight pause while Woods has his knee down, that you could probably argue was “reaction time.” Reaction time really needs to be defined…
  7. Oh shoot I think you’re right, forgot about that. That part of the rule seems contradictory
  8. Why not just enter unattached though?
  9. Not sure who else Iowa will have at 157 or 141 next year, but off the top of my head ISU probably becomes the favorites at those weights with Iowa becoming the favorite at 165, which would give them the dual if in theory the rest of the matches have the same outcome as tonight.
  10. Also, what would be the advantage of wrestling attached at the Soldier Salute?
  11. FWIW, Minnow claims that Swafford was suspended for gambling at least for tonight, possibly the season…
  12. Next year should still be close no? Of tonight’s winners, ISU loses only Carr, while Iowa loses Woods and Franek. Could come down to Bastida vs Kueter
  13. Yeah I think this is what’s been happening in practice, and yes for that reason I think fewer matches will go into overtime.
  14. I’m not a fan of either team so no I probably wouldn’t have “cared,” but I would have thought it was the wrong call. Chittum was closer to a takedown than Woods IMO, and seems like the refs agreed.
  15. Ha. Very true. Can probably add 125
  16. Actually Brain seems upset about this one, and did point out that they did actually wrestle the last second…
  17. Maybe. And I was surprised he didn’t challenge and probably would have if I was him. Just don’t think it “lost them the dual”
  18. I don’t think Echemendia had the TD. End of Chittum was reviewed. What other situation would’ve made a difference to challenge?
  19. Good point, but maybe Gaitan knew the score? If just listening to coaches why would he attempt a turn?
  20. To be fair Gaitan did come close to turning him. Gaitan getting a turn there probably a similar chance as another TD given the little time left
  21. Well you need control beyond reaction time so no TD, but basically yes
  22. I was surprised he didn't challenge in the moment, but looked like the correct call after rewatching
  23. Which brings up the question, how long is "reaction time" anyway? I think Chittum had "control" as the clock went to zero, but not enough time for reaction time
  24. Not gifted, but just squeaked by opponents they should have been pushing for bonus against
  25. No, IMO after re-watching due to reaction time
