How many days were the teams in LV prior to the tournament? Maybe some jet lag or something? His quarterfinal match would’ve been like 10 PM eastern time (and against a west coast guy)

Because if it could actually be executed I think it solves the alleged problem of guys being too defensive. But yeah, it probably can’t be. Interesting to see so much pushback despite “who initiated it” being part of the freestyle rule set and the common claim (albeit probably not from the people that replied here) that “FS is better than folk,” …

Not saying I don’t, but are there other sports that actually care much about teams that place 4th? Outside of making the “Final Four” in basketball I guess. How are they going to decide who gets the third trophy there though? (/sarcasm)

I actually saw a suggestion on HR which wasn’t horrible and would help with the alleged defensiveness - TD is worth 3 if you initiate the move and 2 if you don’t. Makes sense in theory but does add more complication and ref subjectivity

FWIW the only D1 starter he’s beaten so far this year is the guy from Sacred Heart. Seems like a low bar for athlete of the week.

Agreed. I imagine he may not have been super thrilled that Nickal didn't wrestle longer, but probably better to have him training MMA in State College than wrestling somewhere else.

Well I think there's a difference between "helping guys become MMA fighters" and "practicing striking during PSU practices." I mean there's also an MMA gym in the same parking lot as Taylor's M2 building...I bet Cael's been in there.
